Background

Ten years before the story, Xiao Ni transmigrated into the Battle Qi Continent as an orphan with mediocre talent. His Meeting System required him to encounter Xiao Yan three times daily and say, “What a coincidence, Xiao Yan,” offering no major reward until he persisted for a decade. 1

Upon completing the system’s long-term task, Xiao Ni received a major increase in cultivation, twenty-three Heavenly Flames, high-tier cultivation methods, Dou Techniques, and resources. He immediately used these rewards to bargain for Xiao Yan’s ring, expose Yao Lao’s presence, evolve the Flame Mantra, and give Xiao Yan three Heavenly Flames. 1 2

Although initially dismissed as one of Wutan City’s “wastes,” Xiao Ni rapidly overturns that reputation. He defeats Galeo, humiliates Xiao Ning, acquires wealth through alchemy, and forces the Xiao Household elders to recognize his hidden strength. 4 11 21

Lan Suyin’s portrait renews Xiao Ni’s memories of her kindness toward him and begins his investigation into her death. He later learns of possible links involving Gu He, Shen Mi, the Soul Hall, and the Cloud Mist Sect; this investigation becomes one of his principal motives. 4 32 41

Personality

Xiao Ni is playful, shameless, and fond of provoking others—particularly Xiao Xun’er, Yao Lao, Nalan Yanran, and Xiao Ning. He often masks his intentions with a relaxed or teasing demeanor, whether borrowing money from Xun’er as part of a mission or pretending to be his own elderly master at the Mittel Auction House. 3 21 32

He is also calculating and opportunistic. Xiao Ni turns conflicts into profit, exploits the Cloud Mist Sect’s arrogance, and uses the system’s rewards to establish influence around the Xiao Household. His schemes can be ruthless: he uses Nalan Yanran as a shield in battle, kills Mu Li in public, and regards the Cloud Mist Sect disciples as potential pawns. 18 44 50

Despite this, Xiao Ni is fiercely loyal toward people he considers his own. He supports Xiao Yan through the Three-Year Pact, seeks justice for Lan Suyin, supplies Xiao Xun’er with cultivation resources, and offers Little Fairy a path to control her constitution and become an alchemist. 19 41 43 49
