The longer Specter stayed by Mizuki's side, the more she could sense that her other self was gradually developing the intention to take control of her body. Along with it came anger.
If the real Laurentina woke up, she would definitely clash with Mizuki. Specter's mission was to protect Mizuki, yet as long as she stayed beside him, her other self would inevitably become a threat to him.
Was there any way to make her other self reach an agreement with her current self?
Specter thought about it for a long time. In the end, she could only recall that the night before last, she and her other self had indeed come to an understanding in their thoughts. Both of them had felt pretty good.
So wouldn't it be better to do it a few more times? It could even help the Brood reproduce!
"Hmm?"
Feeling Specter's arm tighten around him, Mizuki turned back curiously. As expected, Specter pressed him into her chest. Luckily, her figure was not as terrifying as Skadi's, so Mizuki did not have to worry about suffocating.
"Don't just do that kind of thing to someone else's boyfriend!"
Exusiai practically wanted to throw the handheld console in her hands at Specter's face. Specter merely flashed a sweet smile and let go, allowing Mizuki to continue playing.
Watching this scene, Ho'olheyak felt that Exusiai did not seem overly bothered by the intimate interactions between Specter and Mizuki. Even Skadi, who was his older sister, got jealous. Why was Exusiai comparatively more accepting of Specter?
Clearly, Ho'olheyak did not yet know that Specter and Exusiai had fought side by side for eight hours. Compared to the battle from the night before last, this was nothing.
"Right, we still need to buy some things today."
Texas could not help frowning. Ho'olheyak and Skadi's arrival meant she had to purchase some new items. Setting aside daily necessities, they also needed new beds. Otherwise, Mizuki and the others would have nowhere to sleep tonight.
More importantly, she was the only one suitable for handling this as the captain. It was not like she could bring Mizuki and Exusiai along for no reason. Mizuki still had to make lunch later.
"Ho'olheyak, come with me too."
"Sure."
Since they were buying things for her, Ho'olheyak could hardly refuse. She also needed to retrieve her staff.
Sora was going to training tonight because she had a concert in a few days. Croissant was tagging along for the fun because she did not want to stay behind and watch people being lovey-dovey. Texas and Sora had left, Ho'olheyak was gone too, Specter returned to her room, and Skadi was still unconscious.
Exusiai had dared to flirt openly with Mizuki in front of her sisters before. If Croissant were the only one left, would that not be even more awkward? She was not a dog. She was not going to eat dog food.
Within just a few minutes, only Exusiai and Mizuki were left in the living room. At last, she could not hold back anymore. She put down her game console and looked at Mizuki, who was still playing.
"I'm angry."
"Mm."
It was a casual response, as though Mizuki did not care about it at all.
"I said I'm angry."
Exusiai raised a finger, intending to poke Mizuki's cheek and make him pay attention to her. Instead, Mizuki turned his head and bit down on her finger, gently holding it between his teeth.
A warm, damp sensation spread from her fingertip. Mizuki put down his game console, gently released her finger, and smiled at his girlfriend, who looked surprised and a little unhappy.
"Don't be angry anymore, Xiao Le, okay?"
"I want to be angry."
Even Exusiai had the occasional girlish temper while dating. Mizuki could understand that. After all, Skadi had truly dealt her quite a blow.
"Let's go to your home next month, okay?"
Mizuki's words instantly cut off all of Exusiai's anger. She stared at him blankly, unable to understand why he had suddenly said that.
"I want to meet your family."
Leaning forward slightly, Mizuki gave Exusiai a light peck on the cheek, then naturally rested against her chest.
His initiative left Exusiai at a loss for a moment. Mizuki had been rather proactive before too, but this was just too much to handle.
"What if someone sees us like this?"
Hearing Exusiai mutter softly, Mizuki wore a sly smile and gently wrapped an arm around her neck.
"Then if no one could see us, what would you want to do, Xiao Le?"
At those words, Exusiai's face immediately turned red. Clearly, some improper thoughts had surfaced in her mind.
"Right now is fine too. Xiao Le can do whatever she wants."
Mizuki rested his head lightly on Exusiai's shoulder and gently nibbled her earlobe. Every word he spoke plucked at her heartstrings. His warm breath brushed against her ear, and Exusiai felt her traitorous heart race as though it were about to explode.
This was another side of Mizuki that most people did not know about: a touch of mischief and a wicked taste for teasing people beneath that dark charm. It was a side he only showed to those he loved.
The boyfriend in her arms was practically a succubus luring people into corruption, wanting to taint her, a pure angel. But... she was willing to be addicted to Mizuki!
"Then... should we go to Texas and the others' room?"
For the Brood, Reproduce With Me — 5/5
"Exactly. Even if she's your sister, she can't act like that, right?"
Lying on Mizuki's lap and complaining about Skadi, Exusiai poured all her dissatisfaction out to him now that no outsiders were around. More than half of that dissatisfaction had already been vented earlier. Fortunately, Texas and the others had not returned yet. Otherwise, if they happened to walk in on them, things would have been rather awkward.
And just in case, the two of them had only messed around for an hour. Mizuki had even helped Exusiai change back into her clothes.
"Mm."
As he listened, Mizuki used the longer lock of hair at the side of his head to lightly tickle Exusiai's cheek.
It was a little itchy. Exusiai complained and reached up to tap her lover's chest, but Mizuki's embrace was so comfortable that she could not bear to leave.
"Stop it. By the way, why does a boy like you have longer hair than I do?"
"It just became a habit. Besides, isn't it nice like this?"
Mizuki never got tired of teasing his girlfriend. He had teased Exusiai plenty while they were in Texas and the others' bedroom just now, enough that thinking back on it still made her blush with embarrassment.
Honestly, Exusiai felt that since meeting Mizuki, she had blushed more times than she had in the previous decade or so.
"Does Xiao Le want to grow her hair out too? I think Xiao Le with long hair would definitely be beautiful. Though you're already beautiful now, of course."
Mizuki never gave Exusiai any room to be unreasonable. He always left her helpless and happy at the same time in this regard. Still, she pretended to be angry and reached out to pinch his cheek. It felt so good that she found it hard to let go.
"With a smooth tongue like this, you must have tricked plenty of girls, huh?"
"I don't know. It was enough that I tricked you."
Mizuki stuck out his tongue and licked Exusiai's finger, making her hurriedly pull it back. Her face flushed red. Mizuki truly had no psychological burden when doing such things. He did not even blush.
"What do you mean, you tricked me? I was clearly the one who tricked you onto Penguin Logistics' pirate ship."
Strictly speaking, Mizuki joining Penguin Logistics had been a helpless compromise. At the time, he had neither identification nor a place to live. He did not even remember who he was. Other than joining Penguin Logistics, he had nowhere else to go.
But of course, this was not the time to go against his beloved's feelings. Mizuki merely lowered his head and rubbed his cheek against Exusiai's.
"I willingly let you trick me."
"There you go saying things like that again... Honestly, you should say more. I love hearing it!"
After venting her dissatisfaction with Skadi, Exusiai felt much better. At the very least, Mizuki was willing to stand on her side and would not abandon her for Skadi.
Looks like this way of placating Xiao Le works surprisingly well.
Mizuki lightly poked Exusiai's cheek. He had thought it would take quite a while to soothe her, but it had gone far better than expected.
"I should go check on my sister."
"Ugh... Do you have to?"
"Of course I do."
Mizuki gently shook his head, then lowered it to kiss Exusiai so her dissatisfaction would not continue piling up.
"She is my sister, and she's your sister too, Xiao Le."
"But she doesn't like me, and I don't like her either."
"But she spent so many years looking for me, and she's been very good to me."
Though he had lost his memories, Mizuki would not become the sort of person who forgot his family after getting a girlfriend. He truly did not remember every little thing between himself and Skadi, but he still felt they shared a bond closer than blood relatives. He naturally held considerable affection for Skadi.
What happened earlier must have hurt Skadi badly. Mizuki still needed to comfort her.
"Then go ahead. I need to go out and buy some things too."
Exusiai was not an unreasonable person. She could guess Mizuki's thoughts, so she had no intention of stopping him.
She planned to buy some clothes. Things had gotten a little too intense earlier, and she had accidentally ruined another set of sleepwear. It was time to replace it. She also needed to buy something more feminine. Mizuki would surely like her as she was now, but she felt that she should occasionally act more like a girlfriend.
"Remember to buy groceries on your way back."
"Sure."
It was a plain exchange, like one between ordinary family members, yet it somehow carried a warm feeling. Exusiai kissed Mizuki.
"Go comfort your sister."
"Okay."
Watching Mizuki head upstairs, Exusiai could not help shaking her head. She thought that although her older sister had a bit of a dark side and enjoyed mischief, she was gentle and understanding. She would definitely like a brother-in-law like Mizuki.
"I wonder when my sister will receive my letter."
Exusiai could not help thinking that. She and Mizuki had already discussed it: next month, they would go to Laterano to meet her sister and introduce her boyfriend. Surely even her sister would not be able to find fault with Mizuki.
As for her parents? Exusiai could only scoff. Forget about those unreliable parents of hers. Their highest expectation for Exusiai was merely, "As long as you bring home a man." Or rather, they had completely given up hope that their biological daughter could find a boyfriend willing to accept her.
After all, with Exusiai's personality, she was already an exceptionally outrageous type even in Laterano. If someone who knew her saw how she had leaned against Mizuki's chest earlier, they would probably be scared enough to wonder whether they needed to visit a psychiatric department.
"Hmm... I'll buy a few dresses, and some decisive underwear too. I wonder if Mizuki likes black."
Muttering to herself, Exusiai stood and stretched. She had gone through such an intense battle the night before last, yet she had still been able to go on a date yesterday afternoon. She had vented her inner dissatisfaction just now too, yet she felt refreshed and entirely free of discomfort. Exusiai touched her stomach.
"I'll buy ten boxes. I don't want to become a mom so soon."
Exusiai, plotting all sorts of things in her head, probably could not have imagined that in the future, some good sister would make use of the protective measures she lost every few days.
Mizuki had no idea what his girlfriend was thinking. He merely arrived at the room and pushed open the door. Skadi was still unconscious—or rather, asleep would be more accurate.
He quietly walked over to her. Since the bed had collapsed last night, Laurentina could only place her on the mattress. Mizuki sat cross-legged beside her and silently watched Skadi.
Just watching her made his heartbeat speed up. Yet this was not driven by romantic feelings. Mizuki could clearly tell that it felt different from being with Exusiai. What he felt for Skadi was not some inexplicable affection either.
It was more like, after a long period of loneliness, discovering someone of his own kind.
He gently reached out, only for Skadi to grab his hand. The moment he looked into those eyes, Mizuki immediately realized that the one awake now was not Skadi, but the other person inside her—the culprit who had collapsed the bed last night.
Ishar-mla did not say much. She simply used her power to pull Mizuki onto the bed, then turned over and pinned him beneath her.
"Izumik... for the Brood, reproduce with me."
Mizuki Always Knows How to Comfort People
Of course, reproducing was impossible. Although he was not as strong as Skadi, Mizuki had his tentacles. He mercilessly tied Ishar-mla up and tossed her back onto the bed, planning to ask Skadi later whether she knew there was another personality inside her.
Seeing that Mizuki did not seem willing to pay attention to her, Ishar-mla closed her eyes in frustration and sank back into sleep. On land, Skadi's body was still unable to break free from Mizuki's tentacles.
"But she called me Izumik?"
Mizuki touched his chest in confusion. Under normal pronunciation, Mizuki should be pronounced Mizuki, but he instinctively felt that he was called Izumi. In that case, Izumik was actually Izumi-kun, a typical Higashi pronunciation.
Not many people knew Mizuki was called Izumik, but Skadi was Mizuki's older sister after all. It was not too surprising that the personality inside her knew that name.
There were too many unanswered questions about the past. Mizuki did not know his own origins, and neither did Skadi. Their meeting had begun during an Aegir assassination operation, when the severely wounded Skadi had been taken home by Mizuki.
At the beginning, Skadi, as an Abyssal Hunter, had recognized Mizuki's identity: Seaborn. Yet strangely, Mizuki had not been influenced by the Seaborn Brood and had retained his complete sense of self. He had saved Skadi out of human compassion.
But there was another matter that left Skadi baffled. After seeing Mizuki again, she found that he no longer seemed to be Seaborn. There was an indescribably strange feeling about him, yet she was certain that Mizuki was still Mizuki. Her younger brother had not changed.
"Where am I...?"
Skadi suddenly found herself in a cozy bedroom, holding a little girl who looked very much like Mizuki in her arms.
Come to think of it, Mizuki had always looked somewhat like a girl. His aura was simply too distinctive, making people mistake his gender at a glance. He was unlike that boy named Ansel whom Skadi had met at Rhodes Island. Thinking about how she had called him "ma'am" back then made her feel rather awkward.
"Could this be my and Mizuki's daughter? Am I dreaming?"
Skadi quickly realized that this should be her dream—and apparently, it was a good dream. Hehe, a child between her and Mizuki. How wonderful.
The little girl in her arms looked very much like Mizuki, though her hair was grayish-white and she bore a thirty percent resemblance to Skadi.
"This is actually quite a nice dream."
As Skadi spoke, a hand reached into her arms and took away the little girl who was still babbling.
"Thank you for helping me take care of my daughter, Sister Skadi. Why don't you stay for dinner? Mizuki is a very good cook."
