"Why does this ID, 'Beat Up the Sausage Dragon,' look kind of familiar?"
Texas had a chocolate stick in her mouth. The ID definitely seemed familiar somehow. No, familiar wasn't quite right. Déjà vu was more accurate.
"I think it looks familiar too. Come to think of it, 'Sausage Dragon' sounds really familiar as well..."
"The last time I heard that nickname was when Sir Chen and Sir Swire were arguing, and we were watching the show in the Lungmen Guard Department interrogation room."
Since they were frequent visitors to the Lungmen Guard Department, the girls immediately figured out who the player facing Mizuki was. Meanwhile, in the Guard Department dorms, Ch'en watched her dear colleague get crushed with a thoroughly delighted expression.
"Damn it! Is this brat using cheats?"
"You call cheats when you can't win? What, the dignified young lady of the Beatrix family can't afford to lose?"
Watching Swire suffer, and suffer even worse than she had yesterday, made Ch'en incredibly happy. Sure enough, seeing someone else get humiliated was just refreshing.
"Damn it, Sausage Dragon, where did you find such an expert?"
Swire could not help scratching her head. They had fought thirty rounds from then until now, and every single time, she had been thrown out of the ring and instantly defeated in under thirty seconds. It was as though the other side had predicted every move she would make.
The stakes had risen from three hundred per round to thirty thousand per round, and Swire was clearly getting carried away. But Swire was never short on money. Even though she had lost nearly three hundred thousand to Mizuki, that was pocket change to her, not even what she earned in a day.
Everyone knew she was rich, but aside from getting carried away like this, she did not spend money recklessly. Normally, she ate at little restaurants, twelve for a bowl of noodles.
"I didn't find him. He beat me last night too."
"And you call yourself the runner-up in fighting games. Pathetic."
"Still better than someone handing over three hundred thousand for free."
Ch'en casually tossed out the jab, and the tension between the two gradually rose. Hoshiguma, who was making their late-night snack, helplessly shook her head. These two enemies were really something else. They were either arguing or about to start fighting.
But at that moment, Swire received a message from Mizuki, along with a notification that her money had been refunded.
[Thank you, big sister. I had lots of fun playing with you. I don't want the money. I hope we can play together again next time o(≧▽≦)o]
The emoticon at the end made the entire message seem much cuter. Swire immediately felt that the person on the other side had to be a polite, sensible kid. Damn it, she had nearly lost all of next year's allowance because of that Sausage Dragon.
[Want to have dinner tomorrow? Are you free?]
Mizuki froze slightly when he saw Swire's message. Then he felt Exusiai and Skadi place their hands on his waist, while Texas and Sora lightly pinched his ears. Specter hugged him more tightly, and Ho'olheyak's tail around his foot also tightened a little.
[No, no, I'm going to sleep. Let's play together next time, big sister! (>_<)]
After sending that, Mizuki immediately shut off and put away the game console, lest the six of them deal with him. Suddenly, he felt that Croissant in his arms was wonderful. At least she would not control him like this.
However, Croissant had only realized one thing: Mizuki was Exusiai's boyfriend. Was it really appropriate for her to sit on his lap and lean into his arms like this?
(But Mizuki really smells so nice. Do boys have body scents too? How unusual.)
Croissant subconsciously sniffed twice. He really did smell nice, but that action successfully drew Exusiai's icy gaze. Frightened, she quickly jumped out of Mizuki's arms.
"Ah... the rain is really heavy today. I'm all soaked. I'll go take a bath first!"
Watching Croissant flee in panic, nearly smashing her head into the doorframe, the others could not help covering their mouths and laughing. Skadi did not care about any of that. She simply hugged her beloved little brother and rubbed against him.
"Still, the rain lately has been pretty strange. I've never seen it rain for this long."
Texas rubbed her brow with a headache and could not help complaining.
"Texas, do you not like rain?"
"I wouldn't say I hate it. Siracusa's rainy season is annoying too, because getting my tail wet feels uncomfortable."
"Then it's better if it doesn't rain."
Mizuki immediately understood Texas's difficulties. He himself rather liked the rain, though. So did Skadi and Specter. The rain had made the air much more humid, allowing the two Abyssal Hunters to use much more of their strength.
Less than half a minute after Mizuki said that, Texas suddenly could no longer hear the rain. She walked to the door and pushed it open for a look. Not a single drop was falling.
Yet Mizuki merely got up and prepared to return to his room to sleep, paying no attention to what was happening outside. It was as if the rain truly had nothing to do with him.
"The rain stopped..."
Amaia held out her hand and looked up at the dark sky. As a bishop of the Church of the Deep, she could roughly guess that the rain was connected to Mizuki. No, it should be that the dark clouds blanketing all of Lungmen had some kind of connection to Mizuki.
The rain could suppress Originium activity and render Originium Arts powerless. At the same time, it could turn the places beneath the clouds into something as special as the sea, allowing Seaborn to move within them. And anywhere rainwater existed, Mizuki's tentacles could appear.
If the rain fell across all of Terra, then by the next morning, every nation would face destruction.
"Is this the power of a god?"
Amaia was somewhat shocked by Mizuki's strength. Even after losing his memories, he could accomplish this much through instinct alone. No wonder the Seaborn had told her to protect Mizuki.
"This rainwater..."
Looking at the rainwater in her palm, Amaia lowered her head and drank it, then instantly widened her eyes.
No, Mizuki did not need her protection at all. He could even tear this city apart with ease.
The rain he summoned looked unremarkable, but if he wished it, it could effortlessly destroy Lungmen. This was not rain at all. It was poison! Poison capable of easily killing everything!
Only Mizuki himself could probably trigger its toxicity. Just like delicious crab could not be eaten with oranges, this rainwater appeared completely ordinary and could be freely consumed as normal. But if Mizuki wished it, not even a fly in all of Lungmen would survive.
Mizuki knew none of this, nor did he know he possessed such tremendous power. He simply lay leisurely on his bed, gently swinging his pale legs as he considered what he would do in the coming days.
He definitely had to go to Chernobog. Not only because of Penguin Logistics's work arrangements, but also to meet that Doctor.
Mizuki had forgotten many things. He had forgotten his own name, where he came from, why he had appeared on the snowfields and been found by someone. He had even forgotten his own sister Skadi and his previous girlfriend, Muelsyse. Yet under such circumstances, he could still remember things related to the Doctor.
That alone showed just what kind of place the Doctor had held in his heart before.
"Muelsyse..."
Mizuki murmured the name. It sounded very familiar. Muelsyse was Mizuki's previous girlfriend. Of course, she could not really be called his ex-girlfriend. From Mizuki's description, he most likely had never broken up with her.
That created a rather troublesome problem. If he met Muelsyse again, how should he face her?
If he had not reached this point with Exusiai before learning of Muelsyse's existence, Mizuki and Exusiai would never have developed a romantic relationship. But the problem was that they were genuinely boyfriend and girlfriend now, while Muelsyse had come first.
"Thinking about your other girlfriend?"
Exusiai lightly pressed herself against Mizuki's back and bit his ear with a hint of jealousy. She had clearly heard what Mizuki said earlier.
"I just don't know how to face her."
"Mm."
Exusiai hugged Mizuki and rubbed against him, saying nothing more.
"Xiao Le, aren't you angry?"
"Angry about what? The halo over my head is practically turning green already. What's one more?"
Exusiai rolled her eyes irritably, then lay down beside Mizuki.
"Anyway, if she can be more agreeable when the time comes, we can consider splitting you seventy-thirty. But I definitely won't give you up."
"Splitting?"
"Yeah, splitting you up. Now hurry and make me a late-night snack."
After everything with Texas and Sora, Exusiai felt that her mental resilience had grown much stronger. Besides, what Texas said during the day was not without reason. If they did not hurry and unite their side's fighting strength, they might not be able to compete with the others.
She just did not know what clever tricks her sister had up her sleeve.
"Still no reply?"
Late at night, Lemuen and Muelsyse, exhausted from their journey, had already fallen asleep. Mostima handed Fiammetta a cup of hot tea. Seeing the trace of worry in her eyes and the game console in her hands, she immediately understood that Fiammetta had been waiting again to see whether Mizuki came online.
"No reply... His last online record was two months ago."
Fiammetta put away her game console. Following Mostima around was stressful, and she always needed something to relax with. But ever since she met Mizuki, the console had instead become a communication device between them.
"That doesn't make sense. Mizuki wouldn't stay offline for two months. Do you think the boyfriend Muelsyse mentioned is him?"
"...It'd be best if he wasn't."
Fiammetta hugged her knees, looking rather depressed. How could she not be upset? How could she have known that she would only realize these feelings after leaving him?
A-Neng! Your Sister Is Here to Check Him Out!
"Lungmen... Mizuki..."
Lungmen lay right before her, and Muelsyse's heart was filled with mixed emotions. The Melnade Foundation report had detailed Mizuki's amnesia, so Muelsyse did not dare assume he still remembered much about her.
"Let's part here. We can have a meal together sometime."
Lemuen smiled and waved. She had enjoyed getting along with Muelsyse over the past two days. Muelsyse was lively, and the group had quickly become good friends. They had even exchanged contact information.
"Thank you so much. If it weren't for you, I don't know when I would have made it here."
"Don't mention it. I hope you can tie your boyfriend up and bring him back."
"And I hope your little sister finds a good man. Make sure you vet him properly."
Mostima's expression was somewhat strange as she watched Lemuen and Muelsyse chat and tease each other. This was going to be awkward. If she had known, she would not have helped Muelsyse when they met back then. It would be terrifying if they ran into each other at Penguin Logistics.
"Of course. But after traveling together for so long, I still don't know your boyfriend's name, Muelsyse."
"Ah, he's a very cute boy named Mizuki. Once I find him, I'll introduce him to you."
The taxi had arrived. Muelsyse did not notice Lemuen's suddenly stiff expression. She simply smiled and waved before getting into the car.
(Coincidence. It has to be a coincidence. It's definitely a coincidence.)
"Bye-bye~"
Muelsyse waved toward them, delighted at the thought of seeing Mizuki soon. Then, under Mostima and the other two's gazes, she called out to the driver.
"Please take me to Penguin Logistics, thank you."
"Miss, Penguin Logistics isn't easy to find. Those people have more than ten storefronts alone."
Oh no, this was bad. Without another word, Mostima slammed down on the gas pedal and drove the bewildered Lemuen and Fiammetta toward Penguin Logistics. As a former Penguin Logistics employee, she knew best where to find those girls.
They had to find Exusiai and the others before Muelsyse did. This was terrible. His former girlfriend had come looking for him!
Back at Penguin Logistics, though it was not raining, the sky remained gloomy. The dark clouds showed no sign of dispersing. Mizuki lay soaking in the bathtub, his beautiful hair now fully unfurled into slender, pure-white branches that gave off a faint glow, like warm white jade.
"This feels so nice~"
Mizuki could not help stretching his body. Ever since he discovered yesterday that he could take this form, he had wanted to find time to try it. Now, the Rhodes Island girls had all gone out to make deliveries. He was the only one left to cook, while Texas handled the driving.
Of course, the main reason was to make sure someone would be left to bail them out if the whole group got arrested. Skadi and Specter did not need to make deliveries, but since Mizuki was leaving for Chernobog tomorrow, the two girls had gone to help prepare.
"Hm?"
Mizuki leisurely stood up, his hair returning to normal. He sensed that a guest seemed to have arrived outside.
The tentacles used a towel to dry Mizuki's hair and body, then helped him get dressed. They had become completely accustomed to taking care of him this way, and even thoughtfully drained the bathtub afterward.
A few minutes later, Mizuki opened the door to Penguin Logistics and fell into thought when he saw Lin Yuxia standing outside.
"Hello, are you here to commission a delivery? Please come in."
"You're izumikun?"
"That is indeed my username. May I ask who you are?"
"I... I'm Lungmen Underworld Heiress. You can just call me Lin Yuxia."
It was still embarrassing to say an online name out loud. Even though Lin Yuxia's username was not made up, who would call herself an heiress? Compared to that, Mizuki's username, which was pronounced "Izumi," sounded much more normal.
"Ah, you're the big sister from that night!"
Only then did Mizuki remember Lin Yuxia's identity. Few opponents had left an impression on him, but Lin Yuxia definitely counted as one. During his time in Lungmen, she was the first person who had lasted more than three minutes against him in a game.
"That's me..."
Lin Yuxia took a deep breath, stopping the frustration and anger from getting beaten senseless some time ago from clouding her mind. She had truly not expected that the person who had destroyed her so badly that night would be a half-grown kid like this. And her father had actually called him dangerous.
Mizuki looked obedient and adorable, lively but with a faintly mischievous streak. No matter how she looked at him, he did not seem like the stay-at-home type, much less someone threatening.
What Lin Yuxia did not know was that Mizuki's tentacles were already around her. The moment she made any move that could threaten Mizuki, those tentacles, capable of tearing steel apart with ease, would turn her into the purest nourishment.
"I don't accept what happened that night. Let's fight again!"
As a cool and aloof young lady, Lin Yuxia rarely encountered things that stirred her competitive spirit. Yet games happened to be one of them. She was Lungmen's fighting game champion with three consecutive titles. As the heiress of Lungmen's underworld, it was impossible for her not to care about winning and losing.
Losing once or twice would have been fine. But for two whole hours, she had not won even once. Not once. She had not even touched the edge of Mizuki's clothes, getting thoroughly pummeled while he remained untouched for two hours. That was outright humiliation.
Now Mizuki understood. This young lady had come for revenge. Such an impulsive and willful act completely did not match her cold beauty appearance!
Still, guests were guests. And games were something that could successfully ignite Mizuki's interest and fighting spirit, so naturally, he could not refuse.
While Mizuki and Lin Yuxia sat together in fierce battle—yes, in the literal sense—Exusiai only felt the halo above her head grow a little heavier. She helplessly shook her head. No matter how she thought about it, leaving Mizuki home alone was not appropriate.
