Fu Hengzhou narrowed his eyes. "Interested in working for me?"

"Cough, cough... What did you say?" Xue Chen nearly choked on his own saliva. A beat late, he turned his head and stared at Fu Hengzhou with wide eyes.

"If you work for me, I guarantee that you'll hold a pivotal position in China's business world within a short time. I can help you resolve whatever problems you need dealt with, and I can give you better resources. You can work in any industry you want." As though he had not noticed Xue Chen's loss of composure, Fu Hengzhou continued speaking and laid out his most tempting terms.

"Sorry! I don't think there's any need for us to continue this conversation." Though slightly tipsy, Xue Chen still shook his head, turned, and started walking away.

He would never agree to it. Although the man's terms had indeed moved him, he was not foolish enough to mistake him for some great philanthropist.

This time, Fu Hengzhou did not call him back. He stood where he was and watched Xue Chen's retreating back until he disappeared from sight, then turned to look at the distant Xie Household Manor.

"Boss, are we really just letting him leave like this?" A-Cheng, sitting in the passenger seat, turned to look at Fu Hengzhou in the back after seeing Xue Chen leave.

"There will be plenty of time in the future, and plenty of chances to meet. There's no rush. Maybe we'll run into each other again soon." Fu Hengzhou spoke calmly.

A-Cheng's eye twitched.

Xue Chen looked young, yet he had made so much money in the stock market and gotten away unscathed. Even the Xie family and several other Lineages held him in such high regard. He was clearly highly capable. A-Cheng had different thoughts about his boss's approach.

"Hurry up. Any slower, and he'll get away!" Fu Hengzhou said blandly, then closed his eyes.

"Yes!"

After hearing that, A-Cheng started the engine, and the car quickly left the Xie Household Manor.

After walking out of the Xie Household Manor grounds, Xue Chen was still wondering how Fu Hengzhou had set his sights on him when he heard an engine behind him. The window of that Lincoln slowly rolled down, revealing that face.

Xue Chen stopped, turned around, and looked at the man in the car.

"I know what you're worried about. But there's no need to worry. Whether our cooperation succeeds or not, it won't harm your interests. Want a ride? Consider it my good deed for the day." Fu Hengzhou smiled, the corners of his lips curving attractively.

Xue Chen could not help smiling at that. He looked around and figured there would be no cars at this hour. Without further hesitation, he got into the car.

"Thank you for your kind invitation, Mr. Fu. Alice Hotel, please." Perhaps Xue Chen had drunk too much, because his mind was a little sluggish. He simply thought that there was no reason not to take a free ride, though his movements were very brisk.

"Heh, Mr. Xue, you're too polite. Since we're already friends, why thank me?" Fu Hengzhou said with amusement in his eyes as he watched Xue Chen's slightly dazed expression.

Understanding the hint, A-Cheng started the car and drove out of the Xie Household Manor grounds. Just after their car left, a black sedan happened to pull up.

Chen Jiayao leaned out the window, then sat back down. "Qi Si, didn't you say Old Xue went this way? He's unfamiliar with the place. Could he have gone the wrong way? Xie Tian said he seemed to be drunk."

"Xie Tian told me it was this direction. Did he head back to the hotel by himself? Taxis are usually hard to get around here." Qi Si scratched his head and looked around. Seeing no sign of anyone, he said to Chen Jiayao, "It's fine. Didn't Old Xue say he'd call us after getting to the hotel?"

"All right." Chen Jiayao knew Qi Si was right, but Fu Hengzhou's face suddenly came to mind.

"Goodbye." On the other side, Fu Hengzhou watched Xue Chen enter the hotel. A playful smile appeared on his lips before he noticed his assistant looking at him strangely. "If you have something to say, say it."

"Boss, aren't you being too indulgent with Xue Chen? He mocked you so much just now, yet you didn't get angry?" With a gossiping expression on his face, A-Cheng questioned Fu Hengzhou.

"He's a shareholder with potential. Naturally, I'll take better care of him." Fu Hengzhou smiled as he looked out the window, his gaze deep.

The moment A-Cheng heard that, disdain appeared on his face. After following his boss for so many years, he could more or less guess what his boss was thinking, but he did not say it aloud. After all, he was a smart man too.

After entering his room, Xue Chen began wondering what Fu Hengzhou really meant. Work for him? He had finally gotten the chance to strike out on his own. His goal was to become someone like Bill Gates. How could he possibly go work under someone else?

It seemed he needed to hurry up and settle the matters under his control. School would start in half a month, and he still had to rush back to register.

Xue Chen sat beside the table, picked up the landline beside him, and dialed a number. The call was quickly answered. "Xue Chen?"

"I'm at the hotel. See you tomorrow." Xue Chen hung up immediately after saying that, leaving Qin Zhou on the other end frowning slightly.

"How was it?" Xie Tian, seated nearby, looked at Qin Zhou and asked.

"He's already at the hotel." Qin Zhou looked at Xie Tian.

"Good. Then I can rest easy." Xie Tian nodded.

But Qin Zhou frowned. "Who do you think took him back to the hotel? Could it have been Fu Hengzhou?"

"No way, right?" Xie Tian was stunned by Qin Zhou's words.

"Why not?" Qin Zhou snorted. "Fu Hengzhou clearly has ulterior motives toward Xue Chen. It's very possible."

Xie Tian: "..." For some reason, he suddenly felt that his good brother was the one with ulterior motives—and he was awfully jealous, too.

Fu Hengzhou's Intentions

The sunlight was just right, streaming through the window into the room and onto the bed, casting a pale golden glow over the man lying there.
