Background / History

Muzan was born into the Hatake household as Sakumo Hatake's elder son and Kakashi's brother. His frail body could not endure sunlight, forcing Sakumo and Kakashi to keep him covered and protected. Beneath that appearance, Muzan had fused with Demon King Muzan's bloodline and concealed his need for regular blood consumption by claiming to suffer from anemia. 1

His demonic presence was evident from childhood: his pale complexion, scarlet eyes, and unnatural aura could frighten people with weak wills. After anger triggered a surge of power, Sakumo suspected a hidden Hatake bloodline limit and urged him to keep it secret. 1 3

Muzan entered the Ninja Academy alongside Kakashi, developed extraordinary chakra control, and requested an early Graduation Exam after seeing Kakashi become a Genin. He defeated Nozawa Shu with taijutsu, ninjutsu, and one-handed hand seals. 11 He later became Orochimaru's disciple, while also building a reputation as an early graduate, Konoha Hospital doctor, and war hero. 18 64

During the wars, Muzan's methods became increasingly ruthless. He killed enemy shinobi, gathered intelligence from corpses, remodeled his own body, and transformed the mortally wounded Hizashi Hyuga into a Man-Eating Demon. After Konoha discovered that he had used villagers in human experiments, Muzan defected rather than submit. Appearance

Muzan has the Hatake Clan's white hair, a pale complexion thin enough for blood to show beneath the skin, and striking scarlet eyes. His appearance is described as aristocratic and elegant, but unnervingly inhuman. 3

Personality

Muzan initially presents himself as physically weak, lazy, and dependent on his family, but this is partly a façade used to conceal his transformation and ambitions. He is calculating from an early age, carefully hiding his need for blood and the real nature of his bloodline. 1

Despite his cruelty, Muzan is not driven solely by destruction.
