At the East Exit of Shinjuku Station, Lin Yi parked his beloved motorcycle to one side and squatted nearby, his face full of worry.
He had already discovered that the key to preventing the Shibuya Incident, where Satoru Gojo was sealed away, and the subsequent Culling Game was to kill Kenjaku, the thousand-year-old sorcerer orchestrating everything from behind the scenes.
What was more, he knew how to lure out Kenjaku, that thousand-year-old sorcerer lurking in the shadows.
Or rather, this was a method with a high chance of drawing Kenjaku out.
He just had to find Yuji Itadori, the athletic protagonist of the main story. Yuji was the vessel Kenjaku had specifically brought into the world to imprison Sukuna's soul. Kenjaku had also been secretly watching Yuji's growth, waiting until he came into contact with Jujutsu High as planned, or swallowed the fingers containing fragments of Sukuna's soul and began coexisting with Sukuna.
As long as he found Yuji Itadori and made a move against him, he might be able to bait Kenjaku out.
That left only one problem: with his current strength, he probably could not defeat Kenjaku. The best option was to bring Satoru Gojo along and ambush Kenjaku. That way, he could happily watch Gojo and Suguru Geto play out their tragic lovers' drama afterward.
So, how should I get Satoru Gojo involved? Go directly to Jujutsu High to find him? I'd probably get pinned down on the spot. Anyway, I should first figure out where that athletic kid Yuji Itadori is.
Lin Yi sat by the curb and pondered for quite a while before forming a rough plan. It might not work, but even if it failed, he could at least give Satoru Gojo or Suguru Geto a warning. That was still better than sitting around waiting for the Shibuya Incident and the Culling Game to happen.
Having made up his mind, Lin Yi first went to the message board at Shinjuku East Station and copied down the commissions posted there. Then he mounted his motorcycle and headed straight for Kabukicho First Avenue to ask the local underworld boss for help finding Yuji Itadori.

"Yuji Itadori?"
"Yes. A middle school student who has just entered his third year. Pink hair. He should only have one sick grandfather left at home. His nickname is the Tiger of West Junior High. Old Master Akutsu, I have to trouble you to gather information for me again."
"The surname Itadori isn't very common in Japan, so it shouldn't be difficult to investigate. But Ichiro, is this another one of your commissions?"
"Not really. It's a personal matter. Old Master Akutsu, I'm only asking you to look into a middle school student. It shouldn't be too much trouble, right?"
"It certainly isn't much trouble, but you know the rules, Ichiro. If you ask me for help, you have to help me with something too."
"Of course. So, what do you need my help with, Mr. Akutsu? But let me make this clear first—you know the scope of my work."
"Haha, don't worry, Ichiro. What I need your help with is much the same as what you're asking me to do. It's within your line of work."
Lin Yi accepted the file the old man had his subordinate hand over and understood what the other party wanted after flipping through it. It was nothing more than some underling trying to pull the old usurper's routine, running off with money and hiding.
That was only to be expected from an aging underground boss like him.
"Alright, leave this to me, Mr. Akutsu. I'll have to trouble you with looking into Yuji Itadori."
"Of course. You help me, I help you. Mutual assistance."
Lin Yi tucked away the file and left in satisfaction.
Finding people was not his specialty, but he had plenty of time now. As soon as he returned to the office, Lin Yi threw himself into work.
Using the information supplied by Akutsu, the underground boss, Lin Yi roughly determined that the person he was looking for was in Shibuya Ward. It happened to be the area in Tokyo Metropolis with the densest cursed energy, a high-incidence zone where Cursed Spirit attacks occurred day and night.
"Hiding in a place like that... he's got some nerve. But it's not like I have to look for him myself."
Looking at the map of Tokyo Metropolis pinned to the board, Lin Yi curled his lips into a smile. He took out his phone again and found the number of Kiyotaka Ijichi, the assistant supervisor from Jujutsu High, in his contacts.
"Mr. Ijichi, this is Lin Ichiro. I have some information to provide. Earlier today, I passed through Shibuya Ward..."
That night, Shibuya Ward, Tokyo Metropolis.
Lin Yi wore a conspicuous Mickey-colored trench coat over a green crewneck long-sleeved shirt. Leaning against the railing, he watched the beautiful women passing in front of him and occasionally glanced down at his phone. Clearly, he was waiting for someone.
"Mr. Lin Ichiro."
"Huh? Mr. Nanami, why are you here? I thought it would be Mr. Ijichi."
Seeing Kento Nanami appear, Lin Yi found it strange as well. According to the usual procedure, shouldn't an informant like him provide information about suspected Cursed Spirit activity, then Kiyotaka Ijichi, the assistant supervisor, would come verify it before a sorcerer of the appropriate rank was dispatched to exorcise it?
Why had they sent Kento Nanami, a Grade 1 Sorcerer, right from the start? This guy could handle even some weaker Special-Grade Cursed Spirits.
That completely caught Lin Yi off guard. He had wanted to subtly pry some information about Satoru Gojo's recent movements out of Kiyotaka Ijichi.
Based on what he knew of the characters in Jujutsu Kaisen, Kiyotaka Ijichi's main duty as an assistant supervisor seemed to be coordinating with Satoru Gojo. But Kento Nanami had come instead...
Lin Yi wondered why a Grade 1 Sorcerer like Kento Nanami was the one liaising with him, but then a flash of insight crossed his mind and he thought of a possibility.
What? Was there something wrong with the information?!
"Just as you suspected, Mr. Lin Ichiro, the lead you provided happens to match signs of Cursed Spirit activity we have recently detected. Given the lead you gave Ijichi during the day, I was assigned to liaise with you this time for safety reasons."
Kento Nanami pushed up his glasses and explained why he had come.
After hearing that, Lin Yi instead felt the bizarre sensation of his own actions coming back to bite him.
He had only pulled a small trick on Satoru Gojo that morning, yet by evening, he had been tricked in return. Fortunately, he had changed clothes, and the injuries left over from his battle with Yuta Okkotsu had already healed, so Kento Nanami did not notice anything unusual.
"Ha, what a coincidence. This is my first time going on a mission with you, Mr. Nanami. A sorcerer... just thinking about it feels exciting."
"Please do not think that way. Exorcising Cursed Spirits is my job, not yours, Mr. Lin Ichiro. You are merely an ordinary person with sharp instincts and relatively good physical fitness. Once we confirm the appearance of a Cursed Spirit, you will not need to involve yourself any further. I will handle it."
"Alright. I was rather interested in seeing what you look like when you work, Mr. Nanami. By the way, among the Jujutsu Society materials Mr. Ijichi provided me, I noticed the name Satoru Gojo appearing frequently. Is he your colleague?"
"He is my senior and upperclassman."
"Oh, then is this Satoru Gojo strong?"
