Euron's Storytelling Session
The arrival of Jon and Margaery raised the atmosphere in the hall even higher.
Noble guests from all walks of life made way for the soon-to-be husband and wife, who walked past the crowd with smiles on their faces.
Looking at her daughter's happy expression, Mace, despite her previous dissatisfaction with Jon, now found herself finding him increasingly pleasing to the eye.
Olenna is similar. Perhaps Jon's background wasn't so great, but he is now an undisputed Stark and can bring Margaery the honor of "Lady of Casterly Rock".
Their children will take control of Casterly Rock in the future, and Casterly Rock and Highgarden will be staunch allies.
This is a treasure more precious than anything else.
Willas and Garlan congratulated Jon and Margaery as they walked past them, but Loras remained uneasy.
Catelyn, Sansa, Arya, Oberyn, Lyman, Rhaegar Frey, Selyse — Jon looked at these faces, some familiar and some unfamiliar, and it felt like a dream.
However, Jon did not bask in this atmosphere; he remained constantly aware of the distance between himself and Euron.
Jon was confident he could kill Euron here, but killing him in public would create far too many problems.
Moreover, even if he were killed, his soul might transfer to the bodies of those Dumb Sailor Puppet, thus failing to achieve his goal. However, not being able to kill him in public doesn't mean he can't be killed. There are still two days until the formal wedding, Jon plans to use this time to find all the puppet sailors he has hidden in the city.
Furthermore, his ship must be kept under surveillance to ensure his escape route is cut off.
Soon, Jon and Margaery had walked through the entire hall, Mace stepped forward, excitedly announcing, "Look, everyone!"
A maid pushed a cart to the center of the hall. The cart was covered with a piece of blue silk, and underneath the silk was a noticeable bulge.
Because of Mace's boasting, many people already knew what it was, but they were still incredibly excited to see it again.
"It's Dragon Egg. I heard that thing is Dragon Egg," Lyman whispered to Arya. He had arrived earlier Arya, so he had heard about it.
"Can Dragon Egg hatch into a giant dragon?" Arya asked softly, her head lowered.
The crowd whispered among themselves as they looked at the Dragon Egg on the cart. They remarked that the king before the Mad King Aerys was Aegon V.
Aegon V summoned Pyromancer from the Free Cities, and in the Summerhall, the Apostles used Wildfire to hatch dragons.
Those were the Targaryen's last Dragon Egg, but the Pyromancer clearly failed to control the Wildfire. Not only did Summerhall perish in the flames, but Aegon V himself also perished, which allowed Aerys to succeed him.
In other words, there have been no known Dragon Egg in Westeros for decades.
Not only were the dragons extinct, but even their Dragon Egg disappeared without a trace.
Now that they finally had the chance to feast their eyes, all the guests were eagerly anticipating the spectacle.
"Dragon Egg, it's a pity we couldn't even cut one out of Meraxes's belly back then," Oberyn said in a somewhat gloomy tone from the crowd.
The Aegon the Conqueror's dragon was named Balerion, and his two wives rode Vhagar and Meraxes respectively.
However, Meraxes was killed during the war in Dorne, Rhaenys, who rode Meraxes, also died in Dorne.
The Dornishmen, of course, also obtained the dragon's corpse.
However, Oberyn's eyes remained fixed on the blue silk.
"A few days ago, a valiant adventurer came to me, saying he wanted to give me something that no one else in all of Westeros had as a wedding gift for my daughter. That man is Aeron Swanson!" Mace announced, gesturing to introduce Euron to the crowd.
Euron also bowed politely to everyone. Aeron was his alias, and Swanson was a surname he made up.
"Sir Aeron told me that he and his companions ventured deep into the lost lands of Doom of Valyria, a place countless explorers had never returned to! And they finally found this thing," Mace said mysteriously.
"Our Duke really loves to keep things mysterious," Oberyn said helplessly to Willas beside him, Willas smiled back.
The main reason was that Willas forgave him for breaking his leg; he felt guilty in front of Willas, otherwise Oberyn would have directly swore at him.
"The wedding gift Aeron gave my daughter was—" Mace deliberately drew out the word, then quickly pulled on a corner of the silk—"Dragon Egg!"
"Wow"
As if to echo Mace's sentiments, some minor nobles exclaimed in surprise.
The other nobles were also aware of the Duke's preferences, and even though they had already heard about them, they all showed great surprise.
The blue Dragon Egg lay there quietly, Mace had a dragon-shaped base specially made to highlight Dragon Egg preciousness.
It was a Demon Dragon carved from wood, Demon Dragon wings spread as if about to take flight, its wings and head perfectly supporting the blue Dragon Egg.
Mace adjusted the stroller's position so that it could be in the sunlight.
The Dragon Egg shimmered brilliantly in the sunlight, exquisitely beautiful.
Jon glanced at the expressions of those around him, their astonishment evident. After all, it was a treasure that no one had seen in decades.
He looked at Margaery beside him, only to find that Margaery was actually looking at him.
"Miss Margaery must have seen this Dragon Egg before, right?" Jon asked.
"That's right," Margaery said. "Stark gives me the feeling that I've seen Dragon Egg before."
"Yes, that's right."
Seeing Jon's honest answer, Margaery's eyes lit up.
"Is it in the Moon Mountains?" Margaery whispered.
"Try harder, it would be best if we could find my birth mother," Jon joked, secretly tightening his elbow around Margaery's arm as a subtle protest.
To those around them, they would never guess what the two were talking about, simply assuming it was just some lighthearted banter between newlyweds.
"Aeron," Mace, quite pleased with the crowd's reaction, which greatly pleased his vanity. "Come and tell us about your adventures in Valyria."
"It is a great honor, Your Grace." Euron bowed again and approached the Dragon Egg.
He looked around at everyone and then said, "Gentlemen, this is indeed Dragon Egg, but it's just a fossilized Dragon Egg and can no longer hatch into a dragon." Euron said frankly.
"Wrong! There's no need to say that here." Mace looked a little embarrassed and quietly reminded Euron.
Euron smiled and continued, "However, I must tell you all that dragons have returned to the world! Daenerys Targaryen, daughter of the Mad King Aerys, has hatched three Dragon Egg. I saw her dragon with my own eyes near Slaver's Bay when I left Valyria."
Euron dropped this bombshell, leaving everyone somewhat uneasy.
Even Selyse, who always had a poker face and sat upright, couldn't help but sway her body slightly.
She came from the Targaryen era, Selyse knew all too well how powerful the King's faction were back then.
If Mace hadn't made a mistake and delayed the capture of Storm's End, the Reach army would have marched north, and Robert wouldn't have won.
If the news of the Targaryen orphan hatching dragons is true, then when she arrives across the sea with her dragons and army, at least the Reach and Dorne will support her.
The Stannis court is not powerful at present; in fact, it can be described as weak.
Others, however, did not react as strongly; some even listened intently, such as Oberyn, who had a naturally strong curiosity.
"Daenerys ----" It is said that Oberyn's great-great-grandmother was Targaryen princess, also named Daenerys.
Oberyn, who was active in the Free Cities in his early years, even formed a mercenary group. He was more well-informed about the Free Cities and had heard about the dragons.
The House Martell is currently verifying the accuracy of the information, and if it is accurate, they will try to contact the exiled princess.
He took her back to Dorne to marry his little nephew, and then—
Just as Oberyn was deep in thought, Arya asked impatiently, "Is her dragon big?"
Arya's voice was clear and loud, which was a concern for many, but Catelyn patted her daughter on the shoulder, hoping she would develop the manners expected of a lady.
"Not very big. Her dragon is only the size of a foal right now, nothing compared to those terrifying Targaryen beasts," Euron said, smiling at Arya Targaryen. "She probably can't fly on a dragon yet. If we gather a few archers, they should be able to shoot it down."
Euron's words relieved Selyse, but what Mace said next made her wary again.
"Does her dragon grow fast?"
"Why is he asking this?" Selyse pursed her thin, sharp lips and stared at Mace.
Jon realized that his father-in-law didn't think before he spoke, and looked at Selyse, noticing that her expression was indeed strange.
Olenna clearly noticed Selyse's change in mood and said, "The Targaryen spent a whole century preparing on Dragonstone to conquer Westeros. It took them a century for the dragons to grow into behemoths, and a century is far too long. A little girl in a foreign land thousands of miles away, with a dragon, would most likely be devoured by all sides. I heard she also had an older brother, but isn't he dead now?"
Only King Stannis's reign will last forever!
Olenna's words were both a statement and a reassurance.
Although Highgarden is not afraid of Stannis now, it is not a good time to turn against him.
At the very least, we should wait until Jon consolidates the Westerlands and rebuilds a large army before making any decisions.
"Yes! Lady Olenna is right," Euron spoke again. "It's utterly impossible for three flying beasts to conquer such a vast kingdom. Let us continue our celebrations for Lord Jon and Miss Margaery's wedding!"
