"Have you really written a song that can rival Five Hundred Miles?" The courtesan in splendid white robes looked at Viserys.
Though she was older than Viserys, he was taller.
Viserys had short silver-white hair, and his pale violet eyes seemed almost white.
Viserys's beauty had been recognized by all. People said that as a child, Viserys had been more handsome than Rhaegar. Though that might have been flattery from sycophants, it still showed just how striking he was.
"Absolutely." Viserys spoke confidently, his violet eyes extraordinarily captivating.
His sunny confidence even rubbed off on the Female Swordswoman. Viserys did not look like he was putting on an act.
But the Female Swordswoman could never have anything with Viserys. A purely transactional relationship was far more reliable than one built on affection, and she knew she could only handle someone like Xisa.
Viserys was inhumanly beautiful, immensely talented, and wildly ambitious. Getting too close to him would only leave one covered in wounds. If he had not been homeless, he would have been the most noble king.
The Female Swordswoman also felt that Viserys was showing off a little, producing another song in such a short time.
Even if its quality fell somewhat short, that would be understandable.
"No More Meeting?" The Female Swordswoman looked at the song Viserys had written, unable to suppress her curiosity.
"When a ship sank into the sea, when a person became a mystery.
You did not know why they left, and that farewell turned out to be his last words..."
After reading carefully, the Female Swordswoman quickly cast aside her doubts about Viserys's ability. The quality of this song was no worse than the first.
Viserys's songs were entirely different from everyone else's. Perhaps that was the true worth of genius.
"I had another song, Return Like Lightning, but after thinking it over, I felt it was too outrageous." Viserys stroked the slender sword at his side.
King's Landing was also a fortress, and it was also the City of Three Hills. It seemed perfectly normal for Viserys to come up with something like Return Like Lightning.
"A third song..." The Female Swordswoman and Moro were both numb with shock. Was this what a legendary top genius was like, pouring out creations like floodwaters?
But since Viserys said it was unsuitable, the Female Swordswoman did not ask for the third song. Judging from the title, it sounded rather like some strange military tune.
"It seems you truly are unfathomable." The Female Swordswoman praised him sincerely as she put away the lyrics Viserys had given her.
The Female Swordswoman could not help admiring Viserys's boundless energy. He was practically a House Targaryen superman.
A gourmet, singer, literary master, and genius swordsman—an ordinary person might only achieve one of those in an entire lifetime, yet Viserys excelled at every one of them.
Viserys smiled faintly. This was the true worth of being a copycat author.
There was no shortage of anything in the world of the future except an explosion of information.
"I'll give you two hundred gold coins as an advance payment. After that, I'll give you a percentage of the profits, better than last time."
The Female Swordswoman immediately raised Viserys's pay. The famous Silver Traveler would command a higher price.
"Deal." The two immediately came to an agreement.
The Female Swordswoman was a generous partner. Since their previous collaboration had gone well, she would still perform this song.
But the third and fourth songs were another matter. Bigger courtesans might swoop in and steal them away.
Leaving aside the most formidable Black Pearl, even Lady of Darkness, Moonshadow, Nightingale, and the others were not opponents the Female Swordswoman could face head-on.
The Female Swordswoman understood this as well. The powers behind the Seven Courtesans were not something she could contend with, so she had no intention of signing an exclusive contract with Viserys.
Besides, judging from Viserys's manner, he had no such intention either.
"Viserys, I have a feeling we won't be working together for long." The Female Swordswoman sighed.
"Why do you say that?"
"You're simply too remarkable, Viserys. Someone far more important than me will definitely come looking for you. Braavos may be the Secret City, but many people there also make a living from secrets."
"Fame is a double-edged sword."
"Could it be that you're still thinking of returning to King's Landing and reclaiming the Iron Throne?" the Female Swordswoman asked quietly. "You could live very well here. With your talent, no matter what you did..."
Viserys nodded. "But this is my destiny. You should know that a person only has one fate. Just as you pursue the pinnacle of the courtesans, my mission is to win back that iron chair of House Targaryen."
Viserys wanted a settled life, but such a life could only be built upon defeating House Lannister and Baratheon. Otherwise, he would spend his entire life beneath the shadow of assassins.
He had to increase his strength and fight his way back to Westeros properly.
"By the way, I brought you a gift," said the Female Swordswoman. She understood that such obsessions lasted a lifetime and could not be talked away.
The courtesan's guards brought over the gifts, several lovely little trinkets.
She had brought beautiful clothes for Rhaenys and Daenerys, but what she brought Viserys was something inside a small box.
"What is this?" Viserys asked curiously. It was a cedarwood box that looked as though it held jewelry, though he did not know whether it contained a ring or a pendant.
"You'll know when you open it." The Female Swordswoman pointed at it.
Viserys opened the cedarwood box. Inside was a black hairpin.
Viserys picked up the pin. It was pitch-black all over, hard yet light.
"Dragonbone." Viserys was not unfamiliar with the material. When he had been very young, he had owned ornaments like this as well.
But when he fled King's Landing in haste, he had lost all those little trinkets.
Because it contained a great deal of iron, black Dragonbone was as tough as steel, yet lighter and more flexible.
A Dragonbone Bow was worth a fortune. Even small pieces of Dragonbone could be made into other valuable items, such as Dragonbone ornaments or Dragonbone Daggers. This small piece of Dragonbone was valuable as well.
"It's for you, though I forgot that your hair has already been cut short," said the Female Swordswoman.
"That's very thoughtful of you," Viserys said. The Female Swordswoman truly was a sincere friend, and this Dragonbone Hairpin suited him perfectly.
Viserys put away the Dragonbone Hairpin and thanked her in a most gentlemanly manner.
After the courtesan left, Viserys carefully played with the dark Dragonbone Hairpin by himself.
Among the substances that increased strength, he had only discovered Sea Snail so far, but its effects had shown diminishing returns.
It was nowhere near as effective as the first time he had tried it.
Based on the accumulation of magical properties, perhaps he could try this Dragonbone?
Viserys looked at the Dragonbone Hairpin, still somewhat hesitant.
According to science, Dragonbone was primarily iron. Forget whether it could even be bitten through—it also carried the risk of iron poisoning.
After thinking it over, Viserys gritted his teeth and acted.
There had been House Targaryens who swallowed Wildfire in the past. Eating a bit of Dragonbone was practically normal by comparison, and he had his Talent panel.
Glutton's Gift treated dragons, dragon eggs, and dragon corpses as food. Since he did not have such precious materials right now, he could only try using Dragonbone first.
Viserys decided to try a small piece first. He bit down on the incomparably hard Dragonbone. It was so hard that Viserys felt it might get stuck in his throat.
But just as he was about to give up, the Dragonbone seemed to be catalyzed by some force. It turned into crunchy, crackling cartilage and slipped directly into Viserys's stomach.
"No, I wasn't ready yet!" Viserys's eyes widened.
Then, in the next moment, [Strength Attribute ↑], [Agility Attribute ↑]. His attributes rose once more.
Viserys's strength had now reached 1.8, while his agility had reached 1.9. He could now be considered a qualified warrior.
Sure enough, Dragonbone provided a more potent increase in strength.
Viserys sat in his chair, worried that he might be poisoned to death. But after waiting for a long time, there were no side effects. He merely felt his muscles becoming stronger and his body brimming with power.
So this was how Glutton's skill worked in this magical world.
That made Viserys a player who spent Dragonbone to get stronger.
