Fokichi is highly confident in his status, swordsmanship, and weapon. After gaining the upper hand over Xia Zhiqing, he repeatedly taunts him as weak and mocks the Iron Lump as scrap metal. 46

His confidence turns to greed when Xia Zhiqing reveals the high-quality blade concealed within the Iron Lump; Fokichi immediately declares that he will take it for himself. 47 Even after being wounded, he dismisses Xia as an inexperienced rookie, fatally underestimating his use of substitution, copied swordsmanship, and lightning techniques. 48

Story Role / Major Arcs

Luya Island confrontation

Fokichi leads Marines against Xia Zhiqing and Anna after they leave hiding. He announces his intent to seize Anna for a Celestial Dragon and duels Xia, whose copied swordsmanship proves initially too crude to challenge him. 46

As Xia's Sharingan completes its observation of Fokichi's style, Xia blocks Fokichi's killing blow and rapidly reproduces his swordsmanship and Adamantine Force Slash. Fokichi is then stabbed by Xia Muyang while focused on Xia. 47

Despite sensing a follow-up attack with Observation Haki, Fokichi is wounded by Xia's substitution feint. Xia breaks Sleeve Blood with the lightning-enhanced Thunder-Forged Blade and immobilizes Fokichi with Chidori Stream. 48

Fokichi dies after learning that Xia's blade is a Great Grade Blade; the sustained electrical shock proves fatal. His death prompts outrage at Marine Headquarters and contributes to the pursuit of Thunder Hunter Natsi. 49 50
