The day of parting had finally come.
Morning sunlight spilled over the harbor of Cocoyasi Village, where the Going Merry stood fully prepared to depart.
"Careful! Don't damage the roots!"
On deck, Usopp directed Johnny and Joseph as they carefully transplanted three flourishing orange trees onto the stern deck.
They were the orange trees Bell-mère had left behind, holding Nami's deepest attachment to her mother and hometown.
"Don't worry, Miss Nami!" Usopp wiped the soot from beneath his nose and proudly puffed out his chest.
"I'm a genius designer! I specifically planned a small garden on deck so these orange trees can enjoy the best sunlight and sea breeze!"
"Hmph, you're somewhat useful after all." Nami looked at those familiar orange trees, a trace of tenderness in her eyes.
By then, the shore was packed with villagers who had come to see them off.
Just as Luffy was about to board, a callused hand pressed down on his shoulder.
Genzo, the scar-covered policeman with a pinwheel stuck in his hat, pulled Luffy aside with a grave expression.
"Straw Hat Kid."
Genzo pointed to the pinwheel spinning in the wind atop his hat, his voice low and solemn.
"Do you know who I put this pinwheel on for? It was to make that child who loved to cry since she was little smile."
"I'm leaving Nami to you. But... if you dare make Nami's smile disappear..."
"Even if I have to chase you to the ends of the earth, I won't let you go!!"
Faced with that murderous warning, Luffy was not intimidated.
He held down the Straw Hat on his head, grinned, and revealed that signature smile.
"Shishishi! Victor won't do that!"

Genzo froze for a moment, then sighed helplessly. "You little... Forget it. Get out of here already."
