A young man stood there, dressed in a silver-white casual suit. He was tall and straight-backed, with a devilishly handsome face.
He looked no older than twenty-five or twenty-six. A faint, ambiguous smile hung on his lips, and his slightly upturned peach-blossom eyes carried a touch of roguishness, yet were so profound that they seemed capable of seeing through the human heart.
He stood there casually, his back to Lin Ming and facing the terrifying blood-red palm seal crashing down—one powerful enough to shatter a small mountain. He even... took the time to raise a hand and straighten a cuff that was not the least bit rumpled.
Then he raised his other hand, extended a finger, and lightly tapped at the blood-red palm seal that blotted out the sky.
The movement was gentle and effortless, as though he was not resisting an attack capable of destroying heaven and earth, but merely popping an illusory soap bubble.
A tiny, crisp sound rang out, yet it clearly reached the depths of every soul.
The massive blood-red palm seal, brimming with murderous force and seemingly capable of suppressing everything, shattered, collapsed, and dissipated inch by inch the instant it touched that fingertip, like snow meeting the blazing sun.
There was no earth-shattering explosion, no violent energy spilling outward. It simply... vanished into thin air.
As though its world-destroying might had been nothing more than a ridiculous illusion.
Dead silence.
The wind stopped, the clouds froze, and even the clamor of the distant base city seemed to disappear.
Everyone—including Chen Haidong, Gao Bancheng, the two gray-robed elders, Xia He, and Lin Ming, who had just been prepared to fight to the death—stared blankly at the young man who had appeared out of nowhere and casually neutralized a Fifth Tier killing move. Their minds were utterly blank.
W-What kind of method was that?!
One finger had shattered a Fifth Tier expert's full-force attack?!
Was this a joke?!
The fury and killing intent on Chen Haidong's face instantly froze, turning into boundless shock and disbelief.
He stared fixedly at the devilishly handsome young man, sensing the unfathomable aura around him, as vast as the starry sky. A terrifying thought that made even his soul tremble surfaced uncontrollably.
"Y-You... who are you?!"
Chen Haidong's voice held a barely perceptible tremor.
The devilishly handsome young man was none other than Xiao Wuhen, the inspector of South River Base City's Peak Martial Arts Hall.
Only then did he slowly turn around. He first gave the battered but still cold and calm-eyed Lin Ming behind him an interested look before raising his head to gaze at Chen Haidong, who was hovering in the air as though facing a great enemy. A teasing smile curled at his lips.
"South River, Xiao Wuhen." He spoke lightly, his voice not loud, yet carrying a strange penetrating quality that made it clearly audible to everyone.
Xiao Wuhen?!
The name exploded like thunder in the hearts of Chen Haidong, Gao Bancheng, and the others!
The inspector of South River Base City's Peak Martial Arts Hall! That legendary figure with an unimaginably powerful background, unfathomable strength, and a completely unscrupulous way of doing things.
W-Why was he here?! And from the looks of it, he was here to protect Lin Ming?!
"This person." Xiao Wuhen raised a finger and casually pointed at Lin Ming behind him, his tone calm yet carrying an unquestionable dominance.
"Peak Martial Arts Hall wants him."
The moment those words fell, the atmosphere shifted from deathly silence to suffocating oppression.
If you can't find a book by searching its title, try searching for the author. It may have simply been renamed!
Chen Haidong's expression immediately turned hideous, as though he had swallowed a dead fly. His fists clenched tightly, his nails digging deep into his palms until blood seeped out.
The fury and killing intent in his chest were like an erupting volcano, nearly devouring him whole.
But he did not dare move. Because he knew exactly what the name Xiao Wuhen represented.
That was Peak Martial Arts Hall!
If he offended him, let alone avenge his son, the entire Chen Household might be reduced to ashes overnight!
But... the murder of his son was an irreconcilable blood feud! That little beast Lin Ming had killed his only son in public and acted so arrogantly, making him, Chen Haidong, and the entire Chen Household lose all face!
If he did not avenge this grudge, how could he stand in this world? How could he face his ancestors?
No! He could not let this end like this! So what if it was Xiao Wuhen? So what if it was Peak Martial Arts Hall? This was the Wilderness! It was within the territory of East Forest Base City!
He, Chen Haidong, was a Fifth Tier expert! He was the local power here! Even if it meant offending the Xiao Household, he would kill that little beast and avenge Biao! At worst, he could flee far away afterward and live under an assumed name!
A frenzied thought gnawed at his reason like a venomous snake. The look in his eyes as he gazed at Xiao Wuhen gradually became savage and resolute.
"Inspector Xiao!" Chen Haidong took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing his boiling killing intent as he spoke in a hoarse voice.
"This Lin Ming killed my beloved son. He and my Chen Household share an irreconcilable blood feud! I hope the inspector will show Chen some regard and refrain from interfering in this matter! Chen will surely reward you handsomely afterward!"
He was practically begging, yet his tone still carried a trace of unwilling struggle.
"Oh? An irreconcilable blood feud?" Xiao Wuhen raised an eyebrow, seemingly finding it amusing.
"Chen Haidong, have you misunderstood something? Since when has Peak Martial Arts Hall needed to consider someone else's 'regard' or care about any 'sentiment' when we do things?"
The smile on his face gradually faded, and his gaze turned cold and sharp, like a divine weapon drawn from its sheath, stabbing directly at Chen Haidong.
"I said Peak Martial Arts Hall wants this person. Are you incapable of understanding human speech?"
His final sentence was not loud, yet it carried a chill that stabbed at the soul and an invisible pressure that crashed down upon Chen Haidong!
Chen Haidong's entire body shook violently. He felt as though an invisible warhammer had smashed viciously into his chest. With a muffled groan, blood trickled from the corner of his mouth, and the blood-red aura around him dimmed considerably. His eyes were filled with horror.
The pressure from just one sentence had inflicted internal injuries on him?! Xiao Wuhen's strength...
"Y-You actually..." Chen Haidong stared fixedly at Xiao Wuhen, his voice trembling from extreme shock and fear. "You've reached the Sixth Tier?!"
Sixth Tier! The True Blood Realm! A terrifying existence that had awakened an Innate Divine Ability, transcended humanity completely, and whose blood and vitality surged into the heavens like smoke signals!
Such a person would be a colossal figure in any base city, capable of causing an earthquake with a mere stomp! Xiao Wuhen looked only twenty-five or twenty-six, yet he had already reached the Sixth Tier?! How was that possible?!
"You only figured it out now?" Xiao Wuhen sneered and shook his head, as though he had lost his patience. "It seems you really can't understand human speech. Fine..."
Before he finished speaking, his figure vanished from where he stood.
In the next instant, he appeared less than a meter in front of Chen Haidong.
So fast! Chen Haidong's pupils contracted sharply. He had no time to react at all. He only saw a slender, fair hand that seemed utterly powerless rapidly enlarge in his vision before lightly pressing against his chest.
Bang!!!
A muffled boom, heavy beyond measure, rang out!
Chen Haidong was like a man struck head-on by a speeding starship. His entire body became a streak of blood-red light, shooting backward even faster than he had arrived!
Blood sprayed wildly from his mouth as though it cost nothing, drawing a tragic blood-red rainbow through the air!
The clothes over his chest instantly exploded, revealing a distinct, deeply sunken palm print. Who knew how many ribs had been broken? His internal organs seemed to have shifted and ruptured!
