Tang Chen's fingers slowly tightened around the Heaven-Mixing Hammer.
"Just as I thought."
"The person she had loved all along was Qian Daochen."
Below the throne, the Nine-Headed Bat King lowered all nine heads, not daring to make the slightest sound.
Tang Chen looked at the white-clad figure beside Bo Saixi.
That man had never deliberately pursued anything.
He did not fight for fame, nor did he compete for profit.
Yet Bo Saixi had taken the initiative to approach him.
Tang Chen fell silent for a moment, then raised his wine cup.
"Losing to him was no injustice."
Spirit City.
Before Angel God's Temple.
Qian Renxue widened her eyes. Her golden hair shone even more brilliantly beneath the Heavenly Screen's sea-like radiance.
"She really confessed!"
She immediately turned to Qian Daoliu.
"Grandfather, will Great-Grandfather agree?"
Qian Daoliu stood with his hands behind his back, his gaze fixed on the scene.
He too had once liked Bo Saixi.
But in the end, he had chosen to let go and devote all his thoughts to following in his elder brother's footsteps.
Now that he saw this past again, only a sigh remained in Qian Daoliu's heart.
"Great-grandfather has always had his own plans when doing things."
"But Bo Saixi has already said this much. Would he still refuse?"
Qian Renxue took two steps forward.
Her golden gown clung to her tall figure, its hem swaying gently with her movements.
Her eyes were fixed entirely on Qian Daochen, filled with curiosity.
Qian Daoliu glanced at her.
"Keep watching."
"Grandfather must know the answer."
"I know, but I cannot speak for your great-grandfather."
Qian Daoliu turned back to the Heavenly Screen.
His expression remained calm, though there was a hint of anticipation in his eyes.
Big Brother had hardly ever been stirred by anything in his life.
This time, he too wanted to know how Qian Daochen would answer Bo Saixi.
Far North.
Snow covered the endless mountain ranges.
Snow Empress stood upon the ice field, her silver-white gown fluttering lightly in the cold wind.
A pair of fair, slender legs showed beneath the hem, her snow-pale skin blending into the surrounding ice plains.
She was tall and graceful, with cool features and silver hair falling behind her shoulders, like a goddess sculpted from ice and snow.
Snow Empress looked at Bo Saixi on the Heavenly Screen, a trace of jealousy appearing in her eyes.
"She was the one Qian Daochen used to like?"
Ice Empress lay beside a slab of ice, her emerald-green hair falling at her side.
"Sister, haven't you always been indifferent to humans?"
Snow Empress looked away.
"I merely wanted to know why he left Sea God Island."
"But she is very beautiful."
Ice Empress looked at the red-clad figure on the Heavenly Screen.
"She has a fine figure, and she is powerful too. A woman like that confessed to him. It would be stranger if he refused."
Snow Empress did not reply.
She saw Bo Saixi standing beside the reef, quietly waiting for Qian Daochen's answer.
That waiting made her feel a little uncomfortable.
"Qian Daochen does not judge by appearances alone."
"He is different."
Ice Empress pushed herself up and smiled at Snow Empress.
"Sister, are you explaining things for him?"
Snow Empress lifted a hand and brushed the snow from her shoulder.
"I am only stating the facts."
Star Dou Great Forest.
Above Lake of Life, Gu Yuena also looked up at the Heavenly Screen.
She did not understand much about the feelings between human men and women.
But she could see the expectation in Bo Saixi's eyes clearly.
"Humans truly are interesting."
Gu Yuena spoke softly.
"Even after attaining the highest levels of strength, they are still always moved by emotion."
Di Tian stood by the lake without responding.
Bear Lord, however, shrank back a little.
It recalled how it had been unable to move beneath Qian Daochen's sword earlier that day, and its gaze instinctively avoided the white-clad figure on the Heavenly Screen.
Gu Yuena glanced at it.
"Are you afraid?"
"I merely think that human truly is powerful."
Bear Lord immediately explained.
"With just a casual stroke of his sword today, he suppressed me. Now it seems he had already been monstrously powerful in his youth."
Gu Yuena did not press further.
Her violet eyes rested on the reef.
Qian Daochen sat there without moving, only the hem of his clothes swaying gently in the sea breeze.
Even when faced with Bo Saixi's confession, he did not answer at once.
The scene on the Heavenly Screen advanced again.
Qian Daochen looked at the woman in red before him.
Bo Saixi's fingers rested against the side of her skirt, and her gaze never wavered.
She had waited far too long.
Ever since Qian Daochen arrived on Sea God Island, she had gone to the shore every day.
She watched him practice his sword, and she drank with him as well.
She knew this man would not make promises lightly.
So she was willing to wait for his answer.
Qian Daochen did not speak immediately.
He recalled his days on Sea God Island.
Bo Saixi had never asked about his past, nor had she deliberately tried to please him because of his strength.
She told him stories of the sea, watched quietly while he practiced his sword, and sat by the reef to keep him company when he drank.
She respected his silence and understood his loneliness.
What they shared had long surpassed simple admiration.
Qian Daochen lifted his eyes.
"I am willing."
Bo Saixi's fingers paused.
She had long prepared herself for rejection, yet she had not expected Qian Daochen to agree so readily.
"What did you say?"
"I am willing to stay on Sea God Island."
Qian Daochen rose to his feet.
His white robes draped down from the reef, the Ancient Sword lying between them.
Bo Saixi looked at him, unable to conceal the joy in her eyes any longer.
"Don't you dislike being bound?"
"Sea God Island is not a shackle."
Qian Daochen reached out and tucked the hair the sea breeze had blown across her face behind her ear.
"You are here."
A faint flush colored Bo Saixi's cheeks.
Her grip on her staff slowly loosened as she stepped forward.
Only inches remained between them.
Qian Daochen looked into her clear eyes, then lowered his head and kissed her.
Bo Saixi froze at first, then closed her eyes and wrapped her arms around his waist and back.
Her red dress pressed against his white robes. The sea breeze lifted her hem and scattered the fine sand beneath their feet.
Moonlight fell upon them.
The Ancient Sword lay quietly beside the reef. When the waves approached, they parted on their own.
The kiss was not fierce, but it lasted a long time.
When Bo Saixi released him, her eyes had grown gentler.
"Qian Daochen."
"Mm."
"You are not allowed to leave Sea God Island again."
Qian Daochen looked at her without answering immediately.
Bo Saixi noticed his hesitation, and her fingers clutched his sleeve again.
"You are leaving?"
"I cannot remain here forever."
Qian Daochen looked toward the distant sea.
"My enemy has not yet been dealt with."
"Is your enemy powerful?"
"Very powerful."
Qian Daochen withdrew his gaze.
"Once he learns of your relationship with me, he will drag you into this as well."
Bo Saixi did not let go of his sleeve.
"Sea God Island fears no enemy."
"I know."
"But I do not want you to bear what I should bear."
Qian Daochen raised a hand and gently placed it on her shoulder.
"Wait for my return."
Bo Saixi looked at him.
"How long?"
"I do not know."
"Then remember this."
She set her golden staff aside, cupped Qian Daochen's face in both hands, and kissed him again.
"I will wait for you forever."
Qian Daochen said nothing more.
He lowered his head and returned the kiss.
A moment later, he released Bo Saixi and turned toward the distant shore.
The white-clad figure stepped onto the sea.
The water parted beneath his feet, revealing a straight path.
Bo Saixi stood beside the reef, her red dress billowing behind her in the sea breeze.
She did not chase after him. She only watched as that figure grew farther and farther away.
Qian Daochen stopped and looked back at her.
"Wait for my return."
This time, he did not linger.
The Ancient Sword became a streak of white light.
The white-clad figure crossed the sea and vanished into the end of the night.
