Background / History

Qian Daoliu is the biological younger brother of Qian Daochen, the Angel Clan's strongest known member from thirty years earlier. Qian Daochen personally taught many of Qian Daoliu's abilities and remained the standard Qian Daoliu pursued throughout his life 4 16.

Qian Daoliu followed his elder brother's cultivation from childhood, watching him practice swordsmanship and sometimes attempting to take his wine jug. He also personally witnessed Qian Daochen's Martial Soul awakening, when his brother manifested an iron-gray broken sword rather than the Angel Clan's hereditary Seraphim. Spirit Hall's ancient records credit the two brothers with establishing Spirit Hall together 43 68 148 150.

In his youth, Qian Daoliu traveled the continent alongside Tang Chen. Their first battle lasted an entire day without a decisive result, establishing a relationship of mutual admiration despite their rivalry. The pair later journeyed to Sea God's Island, fought formidable enemies together, and were defeated by Bo Saixi while she wielded Sea God Island's power 32 33.

Before departing for Sea God's Island, Qian Daoliu returned to meet Qian Daochen. He treated his elder brother with pronounced deference, folding away his Seraphim wings and addressing him as “Big Brother” from a respectful distance 33. When Tang Chen challenged Qian Daochen, Qian Daoliu warned him against it; Tang Chen was nevertheless defeated without Qian Daochen drawing his sword 33 34.

Although Qian Daoliu possessed superior mobility and aerial advantages through the Seraphim Martial Soul, he repeatedly lost direct confrontations with Tang Chen's Clear Sky Hammer in their youth. After their fifth recorded exchange, he sought Qian Daochen's instruction rather than concealing the defeat, persistently begging to be taught a path capable of overcoming Tang Chen 54 56.

Qian Daochen eventually taught him the Heaven-Slaying Sword-Draw Technique. Qian Daoliu practiced it relentlessly, first achieving the ability to cleave a thousand-meter mountain after one hundred days, then refining it for years and integrating its sword intent into his Angel God Power 56 57 59. His resulting growth allowed him to defeat the Seven Killing Sword master Chen Jianjun with a single restrained strike and ultimately surpass the limits of his former combat power 60 61.

While on Sea God's Island, Qian Daoliu and Tang Chen followed Qian Daochen's advice to set aside their romantic pursuits and concentrate on cultivation. Qian Daoliu eventually relinquished his feelings for Bo Saixi and devoted himself to following his elder brother's path 35 48. When Tang Chen later departed to seek godhood, Qian Daoliu pursued him for several miles in an unsuccessful attempt to secure their promised rematch and test his new sword technique 58.

After leaving Sea God's Island, Qian Daoliu challenged powerhouses across the continent with the Angel Sacred Sword. He inherited the position of Grand Consecrator of the Angel God's Temple, and his aerial strength earned him the title Sky Invincible 36.

After Qian Daochen vanished, Qian Daoliu remained in Spirit Hall for thirty years. He guarded the Angel God's Temple and, following Qian Xunji's death, yielded much of Spirit Hall's administrative power to Bibi Dong, allowing the Papal Hall to expand while the Worship Hall withdrew from daily management 4 40.

The Heavenly Dao Ranking's arrival confirms to Qian Daoliu that Qian Daochen's warnings about the Sun Moon Continent had been true. When Qian Renxue reports meeting a man claiming to be her granduncle, Qian Daoliu recognizes the description and realizes that his brother has returned 16.

The Heavenly Dao later ranks Qian Daoliu fourth on the Supreme Powerhouse Ranking, above Bo Saixi and Tang Chen. His rewards grant him a seven-hundred-thousand-year Spirit Ring, the Wing God Sword, an Incomplete Godhood, and the Sacred Angel Left Arm Bone; their fusion evolves his Seraphim into the Divine Archangel Martial Soul 52 61 62 63. He intends to fully digest these gains before seeking a long-awaited spar with Qian Daochen 63 68.

While awaiting the remaining rankings, Qian Daoliu tells Qian Renxue that Qian Daochen had previously revealed the existence of a being beneath the Lake of Life stronger than Di Tian. He initially predicts that this soul beast will take first place while maintaining that his brother must rank above Di Tian 82. After Gu Yuena's placement, he identifies Qian Daochen as the only person on the continent who could rank above her 110.

When a vast sword manifestation rises from the Thunder Mountain Range, Qian Daoliu recognizes Qian Daochen's power. He explains his brother's Godslaying Sword Martial Soul to Qian Renxue and detects a strand of pure light compatible with the Seraphim within the phenomenon. Suspecting that his brother is refining something connected to the Angel inheritance, he anticipates his imminent return 120. The phenomenon is produced by Qian Daochen forging the Mysterious Light Sword for him, although the weapon has not yet been shown delivered to Qian Daoliu 118 120.

Qian Daoliu subsequently sends Qian Renxue to wait for Qian Daochen at the Chen Xin Tavern in Heaven Dou City, affirming that Spirit Hall will always be his brother's home 128. He also orders Snake Lance Douluo and Porcupinefish Douluo to protect Qian Renxue in secret; the two later accompany her and Qian Daochen toward Spirit City 141.

When the Heavenly Dao finally announces Qian Daochen as first on the Supreme Ranking, Qian Daoliu openly weeps with relief. The assembled consecrators congratulate him, and he looks toward his brother standing above Spirit City after their thirty-year separation 146. During the ensuing review of Qian Daochen's childhood, Qian Daoliu recalls personally witnessing his elder brother awaken the broken-sword Martial Soul 150.

Appearance

In the Heavenly Screen's records of his youth, Qian Daoliu is shown in golden robes and possesses six Seraphim wings, which he can fold away at will 33.

Personality

Qian Daoliu was proud and competitive in his youth, much like Tang Chen, but their long rivalry developed into mutual respect 32. He is notably humble before Qian Daochen, whom he considers both his elder brother and his lifelong goal 16 33.

His competitiveness once became a weakness: in seeking to prove the Seraphim superior to Tang Chen's Clear Sky Hammer, he repeatedly abandoned his own advantages in speed and aerial combat to engage in direct clashes. However, he was willing to set aside his pride and persistently seek Qian Daochen's guidance after recognizing this flaw 54 56.

As Spirit Hall's former Judgment Elder, Qian Daoliu was uncompromising toward traitors and evil Soul Masters, earning a reputation as the organization's number one executioner. Qian Daochen later cautioned him that a sword may kill but must not exist solely to kill 53 60.

He remains deeply attached to Spirit Hall and the Angel Clan's inheritance, yet his reluctance to directly restrain Bibi Dong's growing influence creates a lasting imbalance between the Worship Hall and Papal Hall 40. Qian Daoliu nevertheless retains unshakable faith in Qian Daochen, believing his elder brother capable of withstanding even Di Tian's Dragon God's Claw 71 82.

His behavior before Qian Daochen contrasts sharply with his public dignity. He accepts being struck with his brother's scabbard as the beginning of instruction and even clings to his brother's leg to obtain sword training. The Heavenly Screen's public exposure of these incidents embarrasses him, particularly when Qian Renxue teases him about them 55 56.

Qian Daoliu does not resent his brother attracting more attention during his own ranking review, regarding that recognition as natural given the source of his swordsmanship 57. His affection is also expressed through small gestures: during his younger travels, he regularly brought Qian Daochen wine from places such as the Far North and Sea God's Island 43.

Although he once loved Bo Saixi, Qian Daoliu states that he does not regret choosing a different path from his brother. He instead expresses sympathy for her long separation from Qian Daochen 48 49. His emotional restraint breaks when Qian Daochen is confirmed as the ranking's first-place holder, and he makes no attempt to hide his tears of relief 146.
