Background / History

Qian Daochen was not originally from Douluo Continent. After transmigrating there, he became Qian Daoliu's elder brother. He rapidly rose to the continent's peak, crushed his contemporaries, and established a glorious reputation before touching unspecified taboos and disappearing without trace. As the decades passed, his name faded from public memory. 1

Although the Qian family traditionally inherited the Seraphim Martial Soul, Qian Daochen awakened an incomplete sword-type Martial Soul known as the Remnant Sword. Rather than abandon cultivation or argue with those who dismissed his potential, he repeatedly practiced basic sword movements through changing seasons. Each swing brought a small but continuous improvement to his sword intent, physique, and cultivation. His Martial Soul eventually became a complete longsword, and the Angel God acknowledged that his swordsmanship had touched the domain of the gods. 114 150 151 152 153

The Angel God offered him her inheritance and the opportunity to inherit the Angel Godhood, but Qian Daochen rejected it and continued following his own path. He traveled across the continent, honing his swordsmanship in battles with Soul Beasts and guiding cultivators he encountered. Among those who followed him was Yu Leilong, an ancestor of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Spirit Hall's ancient records also identify Qian Daochen and Qian Daoliu as having established Spirit Hall together. 148 153 155

Thirty years before the Heavenly Dao Ranking's descent, Qian Daochen was already the strongest member of the Angel Clan. Qian Daoliu and Tang Chen visited him during their travels; despite Tang Chen being a Rank 99 assault-type Peerless Douluo, Qian Daochen defeated him without drawing his sword, using two fingers to sever Tang Chen's connection to the Clear Sky Hammer and Ring Detonation. 33 34

He later went to Sea God Island, where he practiced swordsmanship and guided both Tang Chen and Qian Daoliu toward a more focused path of cultivation. There, Bo Saixi confessed to him. During his absence, Qian Daochen remained hidden and waited for an opportunity to alter the future path arranged by the Divine Realm. After returning, Qian Daochen became involved in the Heaven Dou Empire's affairs. Following his conflict with Prince Xue Beng and the imperial guards, he defeated Dugu Bo, gained the loyalty of Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan, revived the Ice and Fire Dragon Kings at the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, and formed a contract granting him authority over the fire and ice elemental origins. 76 79 80 88 95 97

The Heaven Dou Empire subsequently abandoned its pursuit of him and publicly submitted to his authority while retaining control of its own government and military. Qian Daochen then traveled to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's ancestral land, restored the Godslaying Sword, and forged a golden sword intended for Qian Daoliu. After reuniting with Qian Renxue, Qian Daochen arranged the Light Dragon God Butterfly's fusion with her Martial Soul in the Star Dou Great Forest. Personality

Qian Daochen is relaxed, self-assured, and difficult to provoke. He prefers drinking wine, observing people, and speaking with understated confidence rather than displaying his strength unnecessarily. 1

As a teacher, he is blunt but insightful. He criticizes Chen Xin for pursuing another person's sword rather than developing his own, and he identifies Tang Chen's emotional distractions as the weakness behind his overwhelming hammer techniques. 28 34 35

He is also deeply protective of the Qian family and Spirit Hall's Angel Clan lineage. After returning, he resolves that Spirit Hall belongs to the Qian family and intends to correct Qian Daoliu's handling of its internal power struggle. 40

Qian Daochen has a severe personal sense of justice. He considers status no protection for those who oppress others, killing Xue Beng after determining that the prince had ordered the guards' crimes. At the same time, he does not kill indiscriminately: after decisively defeating Dugu Bo, he spared him because of Dugu Yan's repeated pleas and warned him against creating enemies for her. 76 79

His restraint also informs his teaching. He repeatedly reprimanded the younger Qian Daoliu for treating the sword solely as an instrument of execution, teaching him both when to draw and when to sheathe it.
