"Meloetta, I need you."
Xia Yan looked down at Meloetta and spoke solemnly.
Although Meloetta was very capable, both a Mythical Pokémon and able to control the Forces of Nature to a certain extent, its timidity was its greatest weakness.
If Xia Yan had not been here, it might already have hidden itself using its unique invisibility ability.
"Melo?"
Meloetta looked at Xia Yan's solemn expression and felt the trust emanating from him.
It sniffed softly.
Xia Yan did his best to control his emotions and voice. "Meloetta, I know you're scared. To be honest, I'm scared too."
A small black hand gently rested against Xia Yan's chest.
Thump—thump—
His heartbeat really was very fast.
Meloetta, which could use its singing to affect Pokémon's emotions and even control them through those emotions, could clearly sense the fear hidden deep within Xia Yan's heart.
He really was afraid.
But why could he remain so calm when he was clearly so frightened?
Rumble!
Another thunderclap erupted.
The brilliant lightning seemed to streak right past them.
Meloetta could even feel the fine yet powerful currents crawling up from the tips of its hair and spreading across its body.
Though the currents could not actually harm it, its body still trembled as it curled into Xia Yan's arms.
It was still afraid.
The next second.
Dragapult sharply tilted its body to evade an attack.
Xia Yan used his Psychic-type power to keep himself firmly fixed to its back.
And as Meloetta trembled, a pair of strong arms tightly wrapped around it.
Feeling the warmth radiating from his body, Meloetta quickly stopped trembling.
When it looked up, it saw Xia Yan's stern profile.
Yet when he lowered his head, the smile reflected in Meloetta's emerald-green eyes was exceptionally warm.
"Don't be afraid. I'm here."
"Melo."
