Background / History
Raditz is Bardock's son and Kakarot's older brother. As a three-year-old Upper-Class Saiyan, he possesses 519 battle power and treats Ato as a worthless Saiyan, refusing to speak with him while occupied in battle 1 66.
After completing a conquest mission, Raditz returns to Planet Vegeta with 689 battle power. At the landing zone, he kills the ground-crew administrator Conrad without provocation, then attacks Ato after recognizing him as the low-born Saiyan he expected to die on mission 71. Ato overwhelms him, seals his battle power down to 5, and subjects him to Tsukuyomi; the experience leaves Raditz terrified of both Ato and death 72.
Ato later finds Raditz recovering in the Saiyan Warrior Treatment Center and repeatedly restores him from near-fatal injuries. Each revival sharply increases Raditz's battle power, but his attacks remain ineffective against Ato. After reaching 4,200 battle power, Raditz abandons thoughts of revenge and becomes the Saiyan Special Forces' first member, marked with Ato's Flying Thunder God technique 96.
Under Ato's punishment-based training regime, Raditz adapts to thirty times gravity aboard the Ato Ship before the Special Forces reach the Pirate World 109. He leads the unit's initial arrival at Marineford, destroys Marine Headquarters with an Energy Wave, and releases pressure powerful enough to devastate most Marines and pirates on the battlefield 111 112.
At Ato's command, Raditz fires an Energy Wave at Holy Land Mary Geoise, destroying the Red Line and scattering it into islands 116. He later leads the Special Forces to Whole Cake Island to guard the descending Divine Tree 127.
Appearance
Raditz is a young Saiyan with waist-length, spiky black hair, a cold face, and a muscular build. He wears Saiyan battle armor and a Scouter; during the Special Forces' deployment at Whole Cake Island, he wears a blue Saiyan Battle Suit 66 71 149.
- Black spiky hair extending to his waist 66 71.
- Green Scouter during his early Planet Vegeta missions 66.
- Saiyan Battle Suit, initially dust- and blood-stained after conquest 66.
- Blue Saiyan Battle Suit while serving with the Saiyan Special Forces 149.
- A Saiyan tail, which he idly swings or slaps against his leg 112.
Personality
Raditz initially embodies the Saiyan hierarchy's cruelty. He treats lower-class Saiyans and lower races as disposable, calls Ato “trash,” and casually kills Conrad for speaking to him 71. His pride is closely tied to his status as an Upper-Class Warrior and his battle power.
His defeats by Ato transform that arrogance into fear and submission. Raditz follows Ato's orders partly because he fears being returned to the illusionary agony of Tsukuyomi and later the punishment system attached to his training 96 109.
After learning of the possibility of immortality in the Pirate World, Raditz begins training voluntarily. His ambition shifts toward surpassing Bardock and King Vegeta, and he comes to regard following Ato as the path toward eternal life and greater strength 149. However, he remains contemptuous of Lower-Class Warriors, repeatedly provoking Parsley and underestimating her until her berserk Curse Mark transformation defeats him 149 151.
Abilities & Skills
Saiyan Physiology
Raditz is an Upper-Class Saiyan whose strength grows rapidly through combat, near-death recovery, and intensive training.
- Survived a planetary conquest after being surrounded by natives by transforming into a Great Ape 71.
- Gains major battle-power increases from near-death revivals, rising from 689 to 4,200 during Ato's repeated treatment cycle 96.
- His recovery after defeat by berserk Parsley raises his power from 4,200 to 8,400 154.
- Uses Saiyan First Transformation to raise his battle power from 8,400 to 10,000 and later reaches 21,000 in Ato's Mental Training Space 155 159.
Ki Manipulation
Raditz masters the Saiyan Ki Manipulation Technique, a method created by Ato specifically for Saiyan warriors.
- Can control and sense ki rather than relying solely on his Scouter 149 155.
- Adapts to thirty times gravity aboard the Ato Ship and later to forty-eight times gravity during training 109 149.
- Demonstrates refined physical control, adjusting the force of his movements and attacks during his battle with Parsley 150.
Energy Attacks
Raditz uses destructive ki attacks freely, often on a planetary scale.
- Energy Blast / Energy Wave — Fires standard ki blasts and large-scale beams; destroys Marine Headquarters and the Red Line with Energy Waves 111 116.
- Prince's Technique — Releases a dense barrage of energy blasts 72 151.
- Raditz's Flash Cannon — A crimson Energy Wave used against Parsley and Ato's shockwave 151 155.
- Kamehameha — Learns the technique in Ato's Mental Training Space; his full-power version briefly reaches 44,000 battle power, though Recoome deflects it 174.
- Destructo Disc — Gains preliminary mastery after five days of special training 159.
Saiyan Pressure
Raditz can project overwhelming pressure across a wide area.
- His pressure devastates Marineford, collapsing the execution platform, splitting the sea, and incapacitating most Marines and pirates 112.
- Garp and Whitebeard are among the few combatants able to endure it 112.
Equipment
- Scouter — Used to read battle power, communicate, receive shared coordinates, and monitor opponents 71 116.
- Saiyan Battle Suit — Standard Saiyan combat armor; his earlier suit is destroyed during his first battle with Ato 71 72.
- Flying Thunder God Mark — Placed on his shoulder by Ato when he joins the Saiyan Special Forces 96.
Relationships
- Ato — Captain, trainer, and former opponent. Ato defeats and traumatizes Raditz, repeatedly heals him to exploit Saiyan near-death growth, then recruits him as the Special Forces' first member 72 96.
- Bardock — Father. Raditz eventually surpasses Bardock's battle power after Ato's mental-realm training 66 159.
- Kakarot — Younger brother 66.
- Parsley — Fellow Saiyan Special Forces member and rival. Raditz initially defeats Parsley at equal battle power, but later loses to her berserk Sage Curse Mark transformation 150 151.

- Recoome — Ginyu Force member who deflects Raditz's Kamehameha with a flying kick 174.
