Dragon had taken Borsalino's earlier jab to heart. Now Mu Chen had given Borsalino a taste of his own medicine.
Mu Chen and Dragon could both hear Borsalino grinding his teeth. He was clearly furious.
Mu Chen's jab alone would not have bothered him much; he usually let things slide. But being laughed at by Dragon? That got under his skin.
"Laugh one more time and I'll throw you into Impel Down!"
Borsalino's smile did not reach his eyes. He fixed Dragon with a sharp stare.
Dragon caught the warning in his gaze and immediately stopped laughing.
Rubbing his forehead awkwardly, Dragon said, "Well, you two carry on. I should be going."
He slowly rose. He had no desire to stay when Borsalino did not seem to be joking. Besides, he had accomplished what he came for: meeting Mu Chen and talking with him. He had hoped to recruit someone like Mu Chen into his army, but that no longer looked possible. Still, the outcome was not bad. At least Dragon felt Mu Chen was someone he could get along with.
As for Borsalino?
For now, they still had the bond of former comrades. Borsalino had also helped Mu Chen hold off Kaido, so he deserved some credit.
But Dragon could not say whether Borsalino would arrest him next time.
Borsalino made no move to stop Dragon as he took the hint and left. Mu Chen did not ask him to stay either. Dragon was an enemy of the Marines, after all. Being able to talk like this was already more than enough.
More importantly, Dragon did not want the Marines to wake up and find him there. Just as he was about to fly off, though, he turned back to Mu Chen.
