Background

Dragon once served in the Marines under his father, Garp. As a teenager, he witnessed the God Valley Incident, where the Celestial Dragons hunted and massacred slaves while Marines acted as their guards. The experience shattered his faith in the institution and drove his hatred of the Celestial Dragons. 21 154

After telling Garp of his intention to oppose the World Government, Dragon was severely beaten by his father. He nevertheless defected from the Marines and began building a force to resist the Celestial Dragons alone. 41

He initially founded the Self-Defense Army. Mu Chen’s message—“Do what you believe is right, and keep doing it”—helped turn Dragon’s hesitation into resolve; he later declared that the Self-Defense Army would become the Revolutionary Army, dedicated to justice for common people across the seas. 22 123

Personality

Dragon is driven by a deeply held belief that justice must protect ordinary people rather than uphold the World Government’s authority. His outrage at the God Valley massacre and the Marines’ complicity became the ideological foundation of his revolution. 154

He is cautious when his organization’s survival is at stake, often warning Mu Chen about the consequences of attacking Celestial Dragons or exposing the Revolutionary Army. However, he can act decisively when an opportunity arises, such as organizing rescues, launching rebellions, and publicly declaring war on Celestial Dragon rule. 253 364 618
