Just as the slash was about to hit, he threw out both arms, as if they had become two indestructible golden shields. A thunderous boom erupted, and golden light instantly flooded the entire sky. Violent shockwaves spread in every direction like a raging tsunami.
At the center of that light, Sengoku's body trembled slightly under the tremendous impact. He clenched his teeth, sweat beading across his forehead, every vein bulging from exertion.
Though he resisted with all his might, the golden cross-shaped slash remained unstoppable, slowly forcing his arms to bend. Its immense power even carved shallow marks into his Buddha form.
"Hahaha, Sengoku, is this all you've got?"
Golden Lion Shiki let out a wild, arrogant laugh. His laughter echoed through the sky, filled with boundless mockery.
"Then I'll deal with you first!"
Taking advantage of the moment Sengoku was occupied defending, he flashed forward like a black bolt of lightning. The famed blades in his hands glinted coldly as they stabbed toward Sengoku's throat with fierce killing intent.
Sengoku inwardly cursed. He wanted to evade, but Golden Lion's cross-shaped slash pinned him down so completely that he could not move an inch.
At the critical moment, he could only throw his head back with all his strength. The sharp blade grazed past the tip of his nose, bringing with it a bone-chilling gust.
"Hmph, your reactions are pretty quick!"
Golden Lion snorted. He had no intention of stopping there. With a powerful kick, his entire body spun through the air, his two famed blades whirling like windmills and forming an impenetrable net of steel that shredded wildly toward Sengoku's body.
Sengoku was forced back step by step. Numerous fine wounds had already appeared across his Buddha form, blood seeping from them.
"Defeating me won't be that easy!"
Sengoku roared and gathered the strength of his entire body once more.
Golden light converged in his hands, forming an enormous golden sphere. It contained world-destroying energy, like a sun on the verge of erupting.
When Golden Lion Shiki saw this, vigilance flashed through his eyes, but he did not retreat. Instead, his fighting spirit was completely ignited, and he swung his twin blades even faster.
"Then let's see whose power is stronger!"
He roared and charged straight at Sengoku's golden sphere.
The entire world seemed to tremble from the aftermath of their battle. Everyone held their breath and watched the sky anxiously, not knowing what the final outcome would be.
Meanwhile, Mu Chen and the others in the back streets also witnessed the battle between Golden Lion and Sengoku over the harbor. Calling it sky-blotting would not have been an exaggeration. Admiral Sengoku was incredibly strong, yet Golden Lion actually seemed even stronger. Jia Ji was dumbfounded as well; it was his first time seeing such a frenzied battle.
Golden Lion and Sengoku were both powerful, but Mu Chen knew in his heart that Sengoku was probably slightly weaker than Golden Lion.
In the original storyline, Garp and Sengoku had fought Golden Lion together, only defeating him at the cost of half of Marineford being destroyed. Now that Sengoku was alone, things were bound to be difficult. He would not be able to hold on much longer.
Just then, dozens of pirate ships suddenly appeared in the sky over the harbor, on both sides of the floating island.
The Flying Fleet had arrived.
Mu Chen's expression turned grave as he slowly spoke. Had his guess been wrong?
There had not been the slightest sign of enemy activity in the back streets. Yet with dozens of pirate ships appearing over the harbor, every Marine on the ground fell silent. The ships' cannons were already aimed at the ground. This was a genuine aerial bombardment, and they had no way to deal with it.
Doberman gripped the blade in his hand and looked up at the sky, gritting his teeth as he spoke.
"Damn it, these floating powers are disgusting. Who says we can't fight face-to-face?"
Onigumo beside him also clenched his sword tightly, his gaze icy.
Wu Shu, standing nearby, could only helplessly rub his forehead as he looked up.
"Why don't we force them down?"
"What do you mean by that?"
The others turned to look at Wu Shu, unable to understand what he meant.
"I think every rear admiral-level fighter should use Geppo to get close and sink those pirate ships. Make the pirates fall down. That way, we'll have a chance at winning."
Faced with this suggestion, they thought about it and found that it did seem feasible. After all, they had no other options.
At that moment, Kong's voice rang out. "All rear admiral-level fighters, use Geppo to get close and sink those pirate ships!"
Kong, who had been observing the battlefield, could only come up with the same idea as Wu Shu. They had no air superiority in this battle and could only resort to the most primitive method.
As soon as Kong's order was issued, the Marines across the ground wore grim expressions. They knew this was a desperate measure.
"Idiots, what are you waiting for?"
Doberman spat on the ground and lit himself a cigar.
As Doberman became the first to use Geppo to approach the pirate ships in the sky, Onigumo and Wu Shu followed close behind. Then, one rear admiral-level fighter after another used Geppo to rise into the air. The sight was so stirring that even Mu Chen felt eager to join them, but he was in the back streets, too far away.
Just as the Marines rose into the air, the pirate ships opened fire. Cannonballs rained down upon the ascending Marines.
"Damn it!"
At the front, Doberman exhaled a ring of smoke and stared fixedly at the incoming cannonballs. He knew there would be resistance, but there was no other choice now. He had to risk his life!
Just then—Great Eruption!
An enormous magma fist, wrapped in rolling heat, roared over Dobberman's head like a burning meteor.
Kuzan, standing on the ground, witnessed the scene, and the blazing fire in his heart was instantly ignited.
