Whitebeard felt that life was pretty good these days. Looking at Sabo reminded him of Ace. He lifted his teacup and took a sip, the smile on his face growing ever more content.
After a while, Sabo seemed to remember something. He pulled a newspaper from inside his clothes and handed it to Mu Chen. "Oh, right, second boss, this is yesterday's paper. There's news about Ace in it. He crushed one of Kaido's branches in the New World and brought several small pirate crews under his command. Everyone calls him the Blue Silk Camp now."
"And Ace?"
Ace's progress over the past two years had been nothing short of explosive. He even dared to provoke Kaido now, which came as a surprise to Mu Chen.
Mu Chen took the newspaper and looked at Ace's photograph. The Whitebeard Pirates tattoo on his back stood out prominently. Marco and Jozu stood beside him, with neatly assembled members of the crew behind them. His gaze was firm and confident.
"The kid finally looks a little like a leader. But Ace's Overlord Zen is still too immature. If he runs into Kaido himself, he'll probably still have to flee."
Mu Chen's voice was full of pride, though he still refused to offer outright praise. He knew that while Ace had become much more proficient with Overlord Zen over the past year, he still had a long way to go. What he needed now was to trade blows with powerful opponents.
He also hoped Ace would really get to exchange a few blows with Kaido this time. After all, that was Teacher Kaido!
Sabo looked at Ace in the newspaper, his eyes full of envy.
"I really want to see what he's like now. I really want to tell him I'm still alive."
