Vegapunk's voice trembled, every word seeming to squeeze out through clenched teeth.
He stared fixedly at Mu Chen's hand pressed against the incubation chamber, afraid that Mu Chen would activate his ability the next second and destroy more than a decade of his life's work.
Mu Chen, the bodyguard, raised an eyebrow and lightly tapped the glass wall of the chamber, producing soft thuds.
Mu Chen found Vegapunk's words hard to understand. He had never imagined that Vegapunk would make a bodyguard for himself.
This wasn't how the plot went. Was it because of his appearance?
Still, he asked doubtfully, "Dr. Vegapunk, do you think I'd believe something like that?"
"My fellow countryman treats you like a treasure and gives you the best resources. Why would you need to make your own bodyguard?" He walked around to the control panel and casually opened the failure records on the screen. The crimson words "Experiment Failed" filled the display, stretching from over a decade ago to the present. "You spent more than ten years making a bodyguard, and one with my face?"
Mu Chen's portrait was like a dagger stabbing into Vegapunk's heart.
Vegapunk's face grew paler and paler, and his clenched hands turned white. He knew there was no point in hiding it any longer.
Mu Chen's insight far exceeded his expectations. And since Mu Chen still hadn't acted, there was still room to talk.
"I-I'll tell the truth!"
Vegapunk took a deep breath as though he had made the greatest decision of his life, and his voice suddenly became hoarse.
