As Lu Ren pondered, a streak of cyan light suddenly shot from Hanging Mountain and arrived before him. When the light dispersed, it revealed a middle-aged man in an elegant cyan robe, a longsword on his back and faint gray at his temples. His peach-blossom eyes were especially striking. He was remarkably handsome, but anyone with discernment could tell at a glance that he must have been exceedingly popular with women.
The middle-aged man cupped his hands toward Lu Ren and smiled. "This Dao brother looks unfamiliar. You must have entered recently, right?"
The man's pronunciation was strange and his diction extremely awkward. Lu Ren could understand him entirely because of the perception afforded by divine intent communication.
Before Lu Ren could answer, the middle-aged man seemed to be trying to dispel his misgivings and introduced himself. "My name is Qing Cheng. I'm an old resident of this Hanging Mountain. Whenever newcomers arrive, I take the initiative to speak with them."
As he spoke, Qing Cheng gestured lightly toward Hanging Mountain. "This Hanging Mountain seems to have existed since ancient times, like a waystation midway along the road where people can rest."
Qing Cheng went on at length. As he spoke, Celestial Immortal-level cultivators would occasionally greet him, and Qing Cheng responded to each with a smile before continuing his introduction to Lu Ren.
This Hanging Mountain was the only place along the Supreme Ancient Road where one could rest, serving as a safe haven. Everywhere else, one might encounter the black mist Queen Mother of the West had encountered, or sudden fog that surged forth as though to drown people.
