"Finally, I'm out!"
Standing once more upon the Path to Ascension, Lu Ren let out a long breath, expelling the gloom in his heart. He had grown unbearably stifled within the City of Phantoms. Now that he was out, it truly felt like parting the clouds to see the daylight, like waiting for the clouds to clear and reveal the moon.
For a moment, his heart felt broad and open. Gazing into the distance, though the Path to Ascension stretched endlessly away, a vast sense of grandeur suddenly rose within him. He felt that this road lay beneath his feet, and that one day, sooner or later, he would walk it to the end.
After standing there for quite some time, Lu Ren looked back along the way he had come. The passenger-carrying lantern had already silently vanished into the clouds and mist, as though it had never appeared at all, as though it had merely been an illusion.
"Golden Immortal..."
Lu Ren murmured softly. Using the netherworldly City of Phantoms as a foundation, it had spawned countless descendant cities. Over long ages, they had drawn innumerable Celestial Immortals to settle within them. After hundreds of millions of years, the City of Phantoms where Lu Ren had stayed alone numbered more than a hundred thousand.
Not to mention the existence of all those other descendant cities. Over countless years, even though the present world contained innumerable galaxies, perhaps one-tenth of them had gone there.
Such a grand undertaking could only have been accomplished by a mighty figure at the Golden Immortal level.
