Background / History
Rebirth and transformation
Kong Xuan awakens with memories of a past life inside an egg in the Southern Continent, surrounded by Primordial Five Elements Qi and Primordial Yin-Yang Qi. He learns that he is Yuanfeng’s first son, transformed from the Primordial Five-Element Origin, while the nearby egg contains his younger brother, Garuda—the Golden-Winged Great Peng—born from the Yin-Yang Origin. 1
Knowing his future fate as a forcibly converted mount of the Western Religion, Kong Xuan refuses to accept that destiny. His resolve binds the Heaven-Defying Comprehension System, allowing him to deduce the Five Elements Chaos Return Origin Scripture and begin rapid cultivation. 1
While cultivating, Kong Xuan draws away the Golden-Winged Great Peng’s Yin-Yang Qi. He later deliberately absorbs his brother’s remaining origin, innate foundation, and fortune, leaving the other egg lifeless. This completes the transformation of his divine ability into the Seven-Colored Divine Light and pushes him into the Daluo realm. 2
After enduring the Transformation Tribulation’s Nine-Chamber Violet Firmament Divine Thunder, he emerges as a divine peacock. His awakened Phoenix Clan bloodline calls him toward the Undying Volcano, but he suppresses that pull rather than inherit the Phoenix Clan’s karmic burden. 3 4
Mount Buzhou and the Daoist siblings
Kong Xuan travels to Mount Buzhou, where Pangu’s lingering pressure enables him to comprehend the Nine-Turn Profound Origin Technique, a body-tempering art that complements his primordial-spirit cultivation. He completes its seventh turn after extended seclusion, obtaining a Daluo-level physical body. 4 5
While seeking a Yin-Yang treasure, Kong Xuan nearly destroys a Xiantian Formation that turns out to be the Daoist sanctuary of Nuwa and Fuxi. He immediately withdraws his attack, apologizes, and accepts their invitation to speak within their residence. 5 6
His Dao discussion with Nuwa and Fuxi produces insight into the divine powers Mediating Creation and Innate Eight Trigrams. The three then travel together, first exploring Mount Shouyang and later heading east. 7 10
At Mount Shouyang, Kong Xuan obtains the Earth Spirit Pearl, imitation Nine Heavens Breath Soil, and the Crimson Gold Vine. He also identifies the Lotus Lantern as Nuwa’s destined treasure and leaves the still-maturing Kongtong Seal untouched. 9 10
Eastern Sea and Penglai Immortal Island
After Nuwa and Fuxi return to seclusion, Kong Xuan continues alone through the Eastern Sea in search of the Three Immortal Isles, hoping to establish a cultivation ground away from the Phoenix Clan’s karma. 11
He battles the Gold-Silver Flood Dragon for a hundred years before defeating it with Seven-Colored Divine Light. The creature transforms into the Golden Flood Dragon Scissors, which Kong Xuan suppresses and refines over a thousand years. 11 12
Kong Xuan eventually follows Dongwang Gong to Penglai Immortal Island. Rather than openly attack him, Kong Xuan impersonates Zhunti, defeats Dongwang Gong, seizes the Pure Yang Sword, and claims Penglai by refining its boundary stele. 13 16
As Lord of Penglai, he discovers and collects multiple treasures, including the Five-Needle Pine’s Five-Element Fruits, the Twelve-Petal World-Cleansing White Lotus, Three Lights Divine Water, and a Creation Jade Disc Fragment. 16 17
Zixiao Palace
After Hongjun becomes a Sage and announces a Dao lecture at Zixiao Palace, Kong Xuan uses the Creation Jade Disc Fragment to advance his cultivation before departing Penglai. 18 19
Before entering chaos, he retrieves the Pure Yang Sword through a clone and plants it where Zhun Ti and Jie Yin will find it, completing his scheme to shift Dongwang Gong’s enmity onto them. 19 20
At Zixiao Palace, Kong Xuan secures one of the six front meditation cushions alongside Nuwa and Fuxi. When Zhun Ti insults his origins and challenges his place there, Kong Xuan physically overwhelms him; Nuwa and Fuxi prevent Jie Yin from intervening. Hongjun ultimately stops the conflict without punishing Kong Xuan. 22 24
Appearance
Kong Xuan possesses both a divine peacock true body and a human Daoist form. His appearance is closely associated with the seven primordial colors of the Five Elements and yin-yang. 3 6
- True body — A divine peacock with seven long tail feathers in azure, crimson, yellow, white, black, yin, and yang. 3
- Wings — His feathers contain Great Dao runes and emit Seven-Colored Divine Light. 3
- Human form — A handsome young Daoist dressed in a Seven-Colored Feather Robe and Feather Imperial Crown. 6
- Physical aura — After completing the seventh body-tempering turn, his body gives off a dark-golden radiance and a heavy, immovable aura likened to a miniature Mount Buzhou. 5
Personality
Kong Xuan is fiercely opposed to predetermined fate. His primary motivation is avoiding the future in which Zhunti subdues him and turns him into a mount of the Western Religion; he treats personal strength as the only reliable means of changing that outcome. 1 24
He is ambitious, decisive, and highly pragmatic. He rejects the Phoenix Clan’s inheritance because of its karmic burden, absorbs his younger brother’s origin without remorse, and repeatedly pursues treasures or cultivation grounds through direct action. 2 4 10 14
Kong Xuan is also calculating when direct force is risky. He impersonates Zhunti to take Penglai from Dongwang Gong, then uses the Pure Yang Sword to frame Zhun Ti and Jie Yin for the theft. 14 15 19 20
Despite his ruthlessness toward rivals, he can acknowledge mistakes and maintain respectful relationships. After attacking Nuwa and Fuxi’s sanctuary by mistake, he apologizes immediately, develops a friendship with them, and helps Nuwa locate her true opportunity at Mount Shouyang. 6 10
