East Blue
A luxurious passenger ship filled with nobles and wealthy merchants sailed across the sea.
The cabin was bustling as a grand ball was in full swing. The upper-class passengers held wineglasses and chatted with one another.
Amid the crowd, a girl with short orange hair leaned against the railing, staring out at the sea.
"Alvida Pirates... they should be here soon, right?"
Nami watched the sea, which had only just calmed, as she calculated inwardly.
She had learned that the Alvida Pirates had targeted this passenger ship, so she had changed into an evening gown early and infiltrated it.
Once those pirates made their move, she could take advantage of the chaos to steal all their treasure.
She was a thief who specialized in robbing pirates.
"Beautiful lady, would you honor me with a dance?"
A low chuckle came from behind her.
Nami turned at the sound and saw a handsome young man smiling at her.
"Sure."
Nami smiled and placed her hand in his.
"That whirlpool just now was pretty dangerous, wasn't it?"
Rayson led Nami onto the dance floor with an arm around her. Looking at his dance partner, he felt delighted. This was the original story's female lead.
"Yeah! It scared me half to death."
Nami smiled and played along.
Rayson said nothing more. His expression remained calm as he silently recited in his heart.
Read traits~
With a thought, a translucent screen unfolded before Rayson's eyes.
---- Nami's traits: Pirate Thief (Blue), Navigation (Deep Purple), Weather Sensing (Light Gold) Pirate Thief (Blue): A righteous thief who specialized in stealing the possessions of evil pirates, possessing excellent stealth and lockpicking skills. Navigation (Deep Purple): Extraordinary navigational skill that allowed a ship to sail steadily through the Four Seas and the first half of the Grand Line. Weather Sensing (Light Gold): An innate intuition that allowed her body to accurately sense changes in the weather. ----
As expected of the future navigator of the Straw Hat Pirates, she had started with one Deep Purple trait and one Light Gold trait.
Rayson secretly marveled.
Rayson was a transmigrator from Earth. A month ago, he had inexplicably arrived in this world of the Pirate King.
Just as he had been worrying about surviving in this world overrun by monsters, he had awakened his system.
The Strongest Trait System.
As its name implied, he could treat other people's abilities as traits, then plunder and equip those traits.
Traits were divided into four grades: white, blue, purple, and gold. It was simple and straightforward, just like drawing cards in a game.
White and blue traits had no further distinctions and were relatively common.
Purple and gold traits, however, were further divided into light, deep, and ultimate grades.
As an ordinary thief from East Blue, the weakest sea, Nami's Navigation had already reached Deep Purple, while her Weather Sensing was even Light Gold.
Once she joined the Straw Hat Pirates and entered the Grand Line, those traits would likely rise rapidly.
Traits were not fixed. They could be upgraded.
Others relied on talent and training to grow stronger, but Rayson only needed to plunder and upgrade through the system.
---- Rayson's traits: Beastly Strength (Blue) Beastly Strength (Blue): The strength of a wild beast. ----
He had only one blue trait. Compared with Nami's luxurious status panel, it was indeed somewhat shabby.
However, Rayson had only been here for a month. He had obtained this trait when he had happened upon a dead beast shortly after arriving and luckily plundered it.
Blue traits were not to be underestimated. Ordinary pirates had, at most, a few white traits, and some did not possess any valuable abilities at all. They were no match for him.
It was thanks to this trait that Rayson had remained safe in pirate-infested waters and boarded this ship, where the story began, not long ago.
---- Traits of the Beginning Ship: The ship where the story began. ----
This kind of trait did not even qualify as white. It was purely background information.
With this trait as a guide, Rayson did not need to worry about boarding the wrong ship.
As for why he had boarded? Naturally, it was to obtain higher-grade traits.
A highly valuable target would soon appear on this ship.
A smile appeared on Rayson's face.
Whoosh! Boom! Boom! Boom!
The next moment, countless cannonballs tore through the sea wind and slammed violently into the passenger ship. Flames instantly threw the entire vessel into chaos.
In the distance, a pirate ship flying a heart-shaped skull flag rapidly approached.
"Help! Pirates!"
"Don't panic! Everyone, please remain calm!"
The passengers' screams and the captain's shouts blended together, but under the threat of cannon fire, order had long since collapsed.
"Right on time!"
Nami watched the approaching Alvida pirate ship, excitement flashing in her eyes.
But she quickly noticed something strange.
Why was the young man who had danced with her earlier not panicking at all?
On the contrary, like her, he was staring at the approaching pirate ship, and there was even a gleam in his eyes.
This guy... could he be a thief too?!
Nami immediately grew wary.
"It seems the lady has business to attend to. Shall we part ways here?"
Rayson released Nami's hand and smiled.
Without waiting for her response, he turned and walked out of the ballroom.
"He doesn't look like a fellow thief. What a strange man."
Nami watched Rayson's retreating back and muttered softly.
Still, it was obvious that the young man had boarded with ulterior motives of his own.
But she had no time to think further. The chance to act would vanish in an instant, and time was too tight for delay.
Nami swiftly tore off her evening gown, revealing clothes better suited for movement.
She watched the Alvida Pirates as they began boarding.
After all their lackeys had swarmed onto the passenger ship's deck,
Nami pulled out a grappling hook and gave it a practiced swing. Her body soared through the air as she swung toward the poorly defended Alvida pirate ship.
"Luffy's barrel. Found it."
Rayson casually threw aside the lackey he had dealt with and looked toward the depths of the passenger ship.
After gaining control of the situation, the pirates were gathering the passengers and crew under guard while wildly looting valuables.
That unlucky fellow had run into Rayson earlier.
Empowered by Beastly Strength, Rayson had dealt with him easily.
---- Traits of the Barrel: A barrel containing Monkey D. Luffy. ----
In a dim storage room nearby, the glow of a trait lit up the darkness, its description simple and direct.
Rayson headed toward that room.
