Background and History
Doflamingo descended from the Donquixote line of Celestial Dragons. His father relinquished that status; Doflamingo later built the Donquixote Family, took control of Dressrosa, became a Shichibukai, and operated an underworld trade in weapons and Devil Fruits 567 662.
He came to Champion Island intending to kill Moke, who had recruited Ata—a survivor seeking revenge against the Donquixote Family. After witnessing Moke defeat the Baboon King, Doflamingo tested him with Conqueror’s Haki but shifted to negotiation. Moke proposed buying Devil Fruits and cooperating on intelligence, while insisting Ata’s feud with Gladius remain separate from their dealings 48.
The proposed transaction concealed a trap: Doflamingo planned to keep the fruits and use false information about Caesar Clown’s whereabouts to draw Kaido against Moke’s group 512 730. Their hostility later became open combat. At the Summit War, Moke severed one of Doflamingo’s legs; Kuma intervened before Moke could finish him 89 90.
In Dressrosa, Moke forced Sugar to restore people Doflamingo had turned into toys. Doflamingo responded by deploying Birdcage to prevent anyone from escaping the island 104. During their final confrontation, Moke trapped him in a Spatial Cage and killed him by compressing the space around him, ending Birdcage’s hold on Dressrosa 108 567.
