Background / History

Marco was a veteran of the Whitebeard Pirates who had fought alongside Whitebeard since the era of the Roger Pirates. He served as Whitebeard’s right-hand man, First Division Commander, and ship’s doctor. 302

During the Summit War, Marco fought all three Marine Admirals in succession. He kicked both Kizaru and Aokiji away, blocked an attack from Akainu aimed at Luffy, and attempted to help rescue Ace before Garp knocked him down with a single punch. 302 He later transformed into a Phoenix to protect Whitebeard from Kizaru’s Laser Beam, narrowly missing the attack before kicking Kizaru into a harbor wall. 550

After Whitebeard and Ace died, Marco gathered the Whitebeard remnants and fought the Blackbeard Pirates. The remnants were defeated, after which Marco lived in seclusion as a village doctor. 302

Marco later remained a leading figure among the Whitebeard Pirates. He agreed to help Moke oppose Kaido and Big Mom after receiving assurances that Whitebeard’s crew would not be targeted and that the alliance would benefit Wano Country. 151 910
