"Am I seeing this right?" Donquixote Doflamingo rubbed his eyes. "How did that guy come back from one trip carrying a woman?"
Dragon's mouth fell open as well. "Could that be a mermaid?"
He had never seen a mermaid in all his life, yet the first one he saw was being held in Jin An's arms.
Mermaids were born extraordinarily beautiful and were often targeted by human traffickers. Fish-Men, meanwhile, were favored by slave owners for their powerful bodies, making the relationship between the Mermaid Tribe, the Fish-Man Tribe, and humans difficult to reconcile.
As a result, they were rarely seen in places where people gathered.
"Saving a beauty in distress?" the two said in unison.
Dragon looked at Donquixote Doflamingo and suddenly asked, "I heard the Celestial Dragons control the wealth of the entire world, so why do you look like you've never seen a mermaid before?"
The Celestial Dragons who had stayed behind to watch the show were preparing to leave. The entertainment here was over, and there was no point in staying any longer.
"Mermaid... It's a mermaid!"
But just as he reached the exit, he spotted the mermaid in Jin An's arms and immediately shouted.
Others might not have known, but given his status, he naturally knew what the most attractive slave at this auction was.
Someone had leaked the news that a mermaid would be sold at this auction in order to make money. He had merely forgotten about it while watching the commotion earlier.
Now that he had seen the target of this trip, of course he chose to snatch her for himself.
"You, go bring that mermaid to me!" Saint Rasgard ordered, extending a fat finger toward the mermaid in Jin An's arms.
"And kill that man directly. I don't like trash touching my property!"
Watching the man hold the mermaid made Saint Rasgard deeply uncomfortable. Combined with all the aggravating events at the auction, he was furious now.
To him, the mermaid was his toy. A lowly commoner had actually dared to touch a god's private property. It was an insult to the gods!
"Damn it..."
Saint Rasgard, with his head of golden hair, cursed arrogantly.
Cipher Pol No. 2 had no objections. Absolute obedience to the Celestial Dragons' commands was their duty, so they immediately rushed forward upon receiving the order.
"What the hell are you staring at?! You lot, get over there too!" Saint Rasgard snarled, pointing at the guards beside him.
The guards hesitated. Their duty was to protect the Celestial Dragon's safety even at the cost of their lives.
"But Saint Rasgard, if we all leave, what about your safety?"
Saint Rasgard smiled confidently. "There are only us and those three lowlifes here. They're the ones who should be worried!"
"I am a World Noble, a Celestial Dragon!"
In his foul mood, he kicked the guard in front of him to the ground, then signaled for the others to hurry up and do as he ordered.
As subordinates of the Celestial Dragons, they were a cruel and cold-blooded bunch. All they cared about was power and loyalty. As for an unknown nobody like Jin An, they did not take him seriously at all.
"Since it is your command, we will naturally obey!" In the end, the guards chose to follow the Celestial Dragon's order and immediately took action.
"The people around the Celestial Dragon seem to be making a move against Jin An." Dragon was somewhat anxious. The Celestial Dragons held authority over the Marines, and he worried that Jin An would be treated badly.
Donquixote Doflamingo looked delighted by the show and said with glee, "Looks like he's in trouble. Being targeted by those pigs isn't a good thing."
The status of a Celestial Dragon no longer held any appeal for him. What he wanted was to surpass those pigs who only knew how to eat, drink, and play, grind them beneath his feet, and humiliate them as he pleased.
Although Dragon did not know Donquixote Doflamingo's identity, he was still curious about his attitude toward Jin An and the Celestial Dragons. After spending time with him, Dragon felt that this boy seemed to have gone astray, carrying himself like he feared neither heaven nor earth.
"Let's go help Jin An." Seeing Jin An surrounded by those people, Dragon wanted to join in.
Donquixote Doflamingo reached out and stopped Dragon. "We're slaves right now. Slaves wouldn't dare upset the Celestial Dragons."
"Besides, don't you want to see Jin An's attitude toward the Celestial Dragons?"
Donquixote Doflamingo's words echoed in Dragon's ears like a demon's whisper. Did he want to know Jin An's attitude toward the Celestial Dragons? After pondering it for a moment, Dragon reached a conclusion: he did!
After learning more over this period of time, he had come to understand even better what bizarre creatures the Celestial Dragons were.
If he had to choose, he would definitely stand against the Celestial Dragons.
As Jin An and the others were surrounded by the Celestial Dragon's subordinates, Selena realized that her presence might bring even greater danger to the protagonist.
She knew that her beauty and race had always drawn the Celestial Dragons' attention, so she decided to sacrifice herself and let the protagonist escape.
"Put me down and run!" Selena whispered into Jin An's ear. "They're only interested in me. Let me go, and you can definitely escape."
Jin An glanced at the beautiful mermaid in his arms. "Do you take me for someone who fears death?"
"Of course not!" Selena retorted. "If you were that kind of person, I'd still be waiting in a cell to be auctioned off."
She looked at the Celestial Dragon in the distance. "Then I'll still end up in the Celestial Dragon's hands."
"I just... I just don't want you... to get hurt."
"You're the best human I've ever met in my life. No, not just among humans. You're the best person in the whole world."
"I dared to come here, so naturally I was prepared for the worst." Jin An smiled faintly. "With just these people, my safety is not yet threatened. Just relax."
"I've always kept my word. Just wait for me to take you to the shore."
Jin An's words were filled with resolve and determination. Whatever he decided to do, he would definitely see it through. Not even Jesus could change his mind.
Selena felt the protagonist's determination and warmth, and a warm current surged through her heart.
In this treacherous world, she had finally found someone truly willing to give everything for her. She silently closed her eyes and nestled deeply into the protagonist's embrace, feeling the security and protection he gave her.
"I'll listen to you..."
At that moment, Jin An suddenly shouted, his voice ringing through the entire auction house:
"Do you know who I am?"
"I'm Jack, the great pirate with a bounty of 250 million Beli!"
"I'm now the captain of Golden Lion's Flying Pirate Crew Sixth Ship!"
"Have you thought about the price of making a move against me?"
Everyone in the auction house froze, staring in shock at the man in the middle of the room who held a mermaid while dominating all around him.
Dragon and Donquixote Doflamingo's jaws nearly hit the floor. They had never seen anyone as shameless as Jin An. Golden Lion was sitting at home while blame fell from the sky.
Selena adorably raised her head and blinked her clear, watery eyes, just in time to see the mischievous smile at Jin An's lips.
"He's so bad... but it feels pretty nice..."
