This was Fu Zhilan's destined match: Shi Junyi.
Based on the original description of Shi Junyi's appearance, Jiang Qiao knew at a glance that the man guarded by the scar-faced bodyguard was merely a decoy meant to buy time.
Other than having a build similar to Shi Junyi's, his face was utterly different.
Jiang Qiao cursed inwardly. That idiot protagonist is fucking lucky!
Such a prize was actually going to end up in his hands. What a waste!
Jiang Qiao licked the corner of his lips and looked at Shi Junyi's face. "You trust me?"
Shi Junyi was very honest, and his words came naturally. "Why would I? If you try to hurt me, I'll skin you alive."
His tone was calm and flat when he said it, but Jiang Qiao somehow felt that Shi Junyi seemed to be in a fairly good mood. When he said the words "skin you alive," there was even a peculiar kind of sexiness to it.
Jiang Qiao was a little excited. He stretched out a hand, his fingertips seeming to brush Shi Junyi's knuckles unconsciously before retreating to clutch his sleeve.
"I won't hurt you," he said.
[I don't want to hurt you. I only want to...]
What Jiang Qiao did not know was that the instant he touched Shi Junyi's hand, Shi Junyi heard his inner voice.
The contact had been too brief, though, and Shi Junyi had not heard what Jiang Qiao wanted to do.
He let Jiang Qiao drag him through the alley at a dead run.
If Jiang Qiao dared to try anything funny, he would chop him up and feed him to the dogs.
Jiang Qiao had no idea what Shi Junyi was thinking. He pulled Shi Junyi to the entrance of a bar and shoved a helmet onto his head.
With police sirens wailing behind them, he took Shi Junyi onto the black motorcycle and sped away from the scene.
The motorcycle tore through deserted streets. With no helmet blocking it, the wind carrying the fishy salt scent of the sea howled against Jiang Qiao's face, making him feel especially pleased.
Unfortunately, Shi Junyi only held lightly onto the fabric at his waist the entire ride.
Even when Jiang Qiao leaned into turns, pressing the motorcycle sideways until it tilted close to the ground, Shi Junyi never reached out to wrap an arm around his waist.
Jiang Qiao lost interest in the ride and stopped at an abandoned gas station in the suburbs.
He casually raked a hand through his wind-tousled hair and told Shi Junyi, "You can go."
Shi Junyi got off the motorcycle, removed the helmet, and handed it back to Jiang Qiao. Looking at that face, especially bewitching under the night sky, he asked again.
"Whose man are you?"
Sitting on the motorcycle, Jiang Qiao smiled at him. "The Bodhisattva's man. I descended into the mortal world to undergo tribulation and do one good deed a day."
Naturally, Shi Junyi did not believe such nonsense.
From childhood to adulthood, everyone who had tried to approach him had harbored ulterior motives. Jiang Qiao would be no exception.
So he extended a hand toward Jiang Qiao, curling his lips into a smile. "Thank you."
Jiang Qiao took his hand. "You're welcome."
Shi Junyi heard Jiang Qiao say—
[Sooner or later, you'll be mine.]
He raised a brow and released Jiang Qiao's hand.
Shi Junyi made a call and gave someone his location so they could come pick him up.
Jiang Qiao did not linger when he saw that. He bought a bottle of water from a vending machine and handed it to Shi Junyi, then casually said goodbye and left the gas station without looking back.
By the time he returned to school, the dormitory gates had already been locked.
He nimbly climbed over the wall, avoided the cameras, stepped on the bars over the first-floor dormitory windows, climbed to the second floor, opened a window, and slipped into his room.
Then he came face-to-face with a grass-green face.
"Fuck!"
Jiang Qiao jumped in fright.
Fu Zhilan jumped too, pouting. "You scared me..."
Jiang Qiao frowned. "Why are you wearing a mask in the middle of the night?"
Fu Zhilan shot him a pretty glare. "It's a facial mask."
Goosebumps rose all over Jiang Qiao's body.
The people he had dealt with before were all rough men from boxing rings. This was his first time encountering a boy like Fu Zhilan, prettier than a flower.
Not only did he have no urge to cherish him, he constantly wanted to kick him twice.
Why did he have to squirm around while talking?
Jiang Qiao gave an oh, walked around Fu Zhilan, stripped off his clothes in two moves, and entered the bathroom wearing only his shorts.
The hot water supply had already ended, so Jiang Qiao simply turned on the shower and took a cold bath.
He looked at the familiar face in the mirror. It was not much different from his old one.
Compared to Fu Zhilan's delicate, lovely, and androgynous appearance, Jiang Qiao was clearly a man at first glance.
His brows and eyes were sharp, his features well-defined, yet when he smiled, he carried a somewhat cynical, playboyish air.
Broad shoulders, a narrow waist, long legs, and six sleek, beautiful abs like those of a magazine model.
It was just that, perhaps because he had never used a facial mask, he was not as fair as Fu Zhilan, nor was his skin as smooth.
But so what?
He lit a cigarette and stared at himself in the mirror through the curling haze.
Then they would see who was on the higher level.
Shi Junyi was going to be his.
Jiang Qiao came out of the bathroom with wet hair, sat on the edge of his bed, and played games on his phone.
His shoulder suddenly grew heavy.
Fu Zhilan had washed off his facial mask and leaned against Jiang Qiao's shoulder, all soft and fragrant.
In a sweet voice, he said, "Brother Qiao, I visited a few shops in Central this afternoon and saw two shirts that looked really nice, but they were so expensive."
Jiang Qiao did not move, allowing him to lean against him. His heart remained perfectly unmoved as he continued gaming and perfunctorily asked, "How expensive?"
Fu Zhilan named a price.
Jiang Qiao clicked his tongue.
Fu Zhilan waited for him to continue.
Under normal circumstances, Jiang Qiao would have said, "That's not much. I'll buy them for you."
But this Jiang Qiao was not the old Jiang Qiao.
He had nothing else to say.
After waiting a long time without hearing Jiang Qiao speak, Fu Zhilan asked again, "What do you think?"
Jiang Qiao said, "That is pretty expensive."
Seeing no reaction from Jiang Qiao, Fu Zhilan did not know whether he genuinely failed to understand the implication or was pretending.
Biting his lip, he rubbed against Jiang Qiao's shoulder and changed the subject. "Brother Qiao, has there been any progress with the thing I asked you to do last time?"
He meant asking Jiang Qiao to find a way to get close to Shi Junyi.
In truth, not everything could be blamed on the original owner for being an idiot. Fu Zhilan really did have a knack for seducing people.
Unfortunately, Jiang Qiao was not interested in Fu Zhilan.
He raised a finger, pushed Fu Zhilan's head away, and lied without changing expression. "No."
Fu Zhilan felt that Jiang Qiao's attitude toward him had changed over the past two days. He spread his arms, wanting to hug Jiang Qiao's waist, but Jiang Qiao dodged him.
Fu Zhilan looked at him aggrievedly. "Brother Qiao, how did I offend you? You've been avoiding me these past two days."
Jiang Qiao turned back, lifted Fu Zhilan's pointed chin with one hand, and curled his lips. His gaze was filled with teasing mockery as he asked, "Do you know what I think of you?"
Of course Fu Zhilan knew about the original owner's silent love for him.
Jiang Qiao was very handsome. Though he had no biological parents, his adoptive father was wealthy. When he first entered school, he had captured the hearts of countless boys and girls.
If he really insisted on doing something with Fu Zhilan, Fu Zhilan would not necessarily refuse.
It was just that the original owner's personality was somewhat extreme. Fu Zhilan feared that if he truly got involved with Jiang Qiao, Jiang Qiao would not be able to let him go.
When the time came for him to seize the chance and get together with Shi Junyi, Jiang Qiao might ruin things for him.
It would be better to keep things as they were now—let Jiang Qiao never have him, love him forever, and become the sharpest blade in his hand.
So he pretended not to understand.
"What are you talking about, Brother Qiao? I don't understand. I've always thought of you as my best friend, an older brother who dotes on me."
