The other seven Shark Demon Marshals saw this and rolled over in unison.
A swath of gleaming white bellies floated before him.
Seeing them express submission in the manner of the Demon Race, Fang Yun smiled.
"What is your name?" Fang Yun asked in the Dragon Language.
"This humble one is called Shark Lantern." Shark Lantern still kept his belly turned upward.
"Turn back over. There is no need to be so restrained before me," Fang Yun said.
"Thank you, honored envoy!" The Shark Demon Marquis blew bubbles, breathed a sigh of relief, and turned over.
"Thank you, honored envoy!" The seven Shark Demon Marshals thanked him in unison, then turned over together.
The seven Shark Demon Marshals, normally insufferably arrogant in the ocean, kept jostling and bumping into one another like tiny fish fry. Occasionally, they stole glances at Fang Yun, not daring to release so much as a bubble.
"Take me to your tribe," Fang Yun said.
"As you command! This humble one will lead the way, honored envoy." Shark Lantern immediately flicked his tail and led the way. He released his demonic power, forming a surging current a hundred zhang across around himself and drawing Fang Yun's Water Throne forward faster.
The sight reminded Fang Yun of his time in the Sea of Learning, where boats formed from poetry could also pull smaller boats behind them. It was remarkably similar to the innate abilities of the Water Race.
The seven Shark Demon Marshals also swam with all their might, combining their currents to pull the Water Throne along while secretly muttering among themselves.
After a while, Shark Lantern asked tentatively, "Your Highness, you do not look like a member of the Water Race."
