Background

Li Qingxian originated from another world of skyscrapers, schooling, self-media work, and ordinary urban life. He died of illness, awakened in the body of the Qi Kingdom’s Li Qingxian, and resolved not to die a second time. 2

His father, Li Gangfeng, died after remonstrating against the court. Li Qingxian subsequently fell gravely ill, then resumed duty as a low-ranking Night Guard on Night Guard Street. Zheng Hui’s unit became his first reliable support in the Divine Capital. 2

Li Qingxian inherited a connection to the now-defunct Fate Measuring Sect through his maternal family. Before his transmigration, the body’s original owner had entered the gate of Fate Cultivation, obtained the Heaven’s Mandate Instrument, and learned the Qi-Gazing Technique. 2

His early attempts at literary, martial, and Daoist cultivation had reportedly failed due to poor aptitude and weak foundations. After receiving instruction from Jiang Youfei, however, he became an official disciple of the Sky Firmament Sect and built an initial framework for Daoist and Fate cultivation. 2 40 86

Appearance

At the beginning of the story, Li Qingxian is a thin, pale youth of fifteen or sixteen recovering from severe illness. Though his features initially appear tired and lifeless, grooming himself reveals a sharp-eyed, faintly handsome saber-bearing Night Guard. 2

He is quick-witted, shameless when useful, and comfortable performing loyalty or humility to gain protection. His proposal to offer distillery shares to Emperor Taining is framed as patriotic devotion, but he and Zhou Chunfeng understand it will also secure imperial favor. 15

Despite his calculation, Li Qingxian repeatedly protects people who have aided him. He saves fellow examinees from a Beyond-Rank Fate Corpse, supports friends from Eerie City, protects members of the Divine Bow Sect, and continues to respect Zheng Hui after surpassing him in status. 397 520 431 561
