Background

Li Qingxian originated from another world of skyscrapers, schooling, self-media work, and ordinary urban life. He died of illness, awakened in the body of the Qi Kingdom’s Li Qingxian, and resolved not to die a second time. 2

His father, Li Gangfeng, died after remonstrating against the court. Li Qingxian subsequently fell gravely ill, then resumed duty as a low-ranking Night Guard on Night Guard Street. Zheng Hui’s unit became his first reliable support in the Divine Capital. 2

Li Qingxian inherited a connection to the now-defunct Fate Measuring Sect through his maternal family. Before his transmigration, the body’s original owner had entered the gate of Fate Cultivation, obtained the Heaven’s Mandate Instrument, and learned the Qi-Gazing Technique. 2

His early attempts at literary, martial, and Daoist cultivation had reportedly failed due to poor aptitude and weak foundations. After receiving instruction from Jiang Youfei, however, he became an official disciple of the Sky Firmament Sect and built an initial framework for Daoist and Fate cultivation. 2 40 86

Appearance

At the beginning of the story, Li Qingxian is a thin, pale youth of fifteen or sixteen recovering from severe illness. Though his features initially appear tired and lifeless, grooming himself reveals a sharp-eyed, faintly handsome saber-bearing Night Guard. 2

  • Fine dark brows and sharp eyes; a faint scar runs along the left side of his chin. 2
  • Has callused palms from prior training despite fair hands and visible blue veins. 2
  • Initially wears a dark teal Night Guard uniform, black boots, a Deer-and-Crane Jade Pendant, and a Goose Feather Saber. 2
  • Later loses his childishness and develops a composed, heroic bearing described as “vast and bold.” 634
  • Uses disguises when necessary; Jiang Youfei’s Illusion-Skin Mask once transformed him into a deathly pale, ordinary-looking middle-aged man. 32

Personality

Li Qingxian’s central motive is survival. His awareness of having died once makes him wary of direct danger, political traps, demonic curses, and obligations that could entangle him beyond his ability to control. 2 142

He is quick-witted, shameless when useful, and comfortable performing loyalty or humility to gain protection. His proposal to offer distillery shares to Emperor Taining is framed as patriotic devotion, but he and Zhou Chunfeng understand it will also secure imperial favor. 15

Despite his calculation, Li Qingxian repeatedly protects people who have aided him. He saves fellow examinees from a Beyond-Rank Fate Corpse, supports friends from Eerie City, protects members of the Divine Bow Sect, and continues to respect Zheng Hui after surpassing him in status. 397 520 431 561

His cultivation philosophy emphasizes disciplined study rather than inspiration alone. He repeatedly rereads difficult texts, records gaps in his knowledge, and treats understanding as something built through systematic accumulation. 533 540 887 944

Abilities & Skills

Fate Arts

Li Qingxian specializes in Fate Arts, using the Heaven’s Mandate Instrument and his growing Destiny Mansion to observe, interpret, alter, and seek fate.

  • Mastered the Qi-Gazing Technique before the story’s main events and used it to identify danger surrounding Dong Ying’s mother. 2 3
  • Gains the three foundational Destiny Arts Master abilities: Qi-Gazing, Fate Reading, and Physiognomic Formation. 190
  • Uses Fate-Seeking Arts to trace targets and pursue rebel forces, though stronger Destiny Arts Masters can obstruct his searches. 211
  • Breaks Jia Da’s Destiny Seal from Zhou Furui’s Destiny Mold, demonstrating the ability to counter another Fate Arts Master’s interference. 250
  • Uses Fate-Taking and Life-Buying methods through Destiny Contracts, purchasing Destiny Stars from prisoners in exchange for protection or release. 80 84
  • Employs Fate Arts for military reconnaissance, strategic formation analysis, political deduction, and the identification of hidden alliances. 190 198 992

Momentum Configuration Mastery

Li Qingxian becomes an exceptional practitioner of Momentum Configurations: Fate Arts structures that model, shape, and exploit the flow of qi, terrain, people, and power.

  • Builds and repeatedly improves the Eighty-Eight-Tower Mountains and Rivers Momentum Configuration rather than accepting an imperfect initial version. 540 554
  • Uses the Destiny-Setting Disk and other Destiny Artifacts to project the future movements of examination puppets and evade attacks before they occur. 283
  • Completes Rectification of Fate Studies and withstands the Fate Lake’s “Thousand Voices, Ten Thousand Questions” trial, achieving complete understanding of Fate Arts. 944
  • Names his realization of the Great Dao within Eighty-Eight-Tower Mountains and Rivers the Eighty-Eight-Tower Heart. 947
  • Demonstrates nine different configuration-unravelling methods, including Ox-Knife Unravelling, Tower-Bridge Method, Dragon-Link Unravelling, and Mountain-Moving Unravelling. 1172

Divine Firmament Thunder Arts

The Divine Firmament Thunder Seed is Li Qingxian’s most destructive cultivation foundation and greatly amplifies his mana, Inner Gods, and thunder techniques.

  • The seed manifests as catastrophic lightning that annihilates Demon Sect disciples and five Third-Rank experts while avoiding allies. 36
  • Allows him to wield Thunder Arts with power recognized as comparable to Middle Rank techniques while only at Eighth Rank. 289
  • Strengthens his Inner Gods and lets him appoint Inner Gods above the level normally available to a cultivator of his rank. 494
  • Later cultivates the Thunder Jade Canon, using its breathing method to rapidly accumulate spiritual energy and approach higher ranks. 1017 1024

Destiny Mansion, Destiny Mountains, and True Spirits

Li Qingxian’s Destiny Mansion is both a cultivation foundation and a repository for Destiny Stars, artifacts, mountains, and spiritual structures.

  • Refines an Upper Realm Destiny Mountain that merges with his Destiny Pool as his Main Destiny Mountain and Hanging Mountain. 533
  • Establishes a Six-Cornered True Altar at Sixth Rank, preparing to construct True Spirits rather than relying on conventional Six-Spirit Unity. 494
  • Acquires Wenkui, a book-shaped Destiny Spirit that dramatically improves his speed of learning, analysis, and comprehension. 534
  • Creates the Destiny Emperor Aspect, a unique primary aspect that fuses human fate and heavenly fate. 865
  • Possesses the Beyond-Rank Fate Star Fierce World War Lord, which grows through victory and momentum rather than slaughter alone. 847

Divine Abilities

Li Qingxian develops several extraordinary perception- and knowledge-based powers.

  • Heaven-and-Earth Illumination — perceives minute environmental details, including footprints, dust, movement patterns, and how long someone stood in a location. 601
  • Mirrorless Self-Reflection — permits him to see his own face without a mirror. 601
  • Endless Cycle of Book Sounds — causes every book he has studied to echo continuously beside him, allowing sustained repetition and long-term mastery. 887

War God Complete Art

Li Qingxian possesses and distributes the War God Complete Art, an Upper Realm cultivation method that becomes the foundation of his military influence.

  • Can be learned by cultivators regardless of age or talent; the slowest recorded entrant reached the ranks in six months and nine days. 1008
  • Can be inherited by descendants and has an upper limit beyond the mortal world. 1008
  • Enables his generals Zhou Hen, Yu Ping, Lü Wenhua, and Lü Jing to advance from Fourth Rank to Third Rank overnight. 1005
  • Becomes a recruitment tool for the Taigu Army and shifts the loyalty of soldiers frustrated by aristocratic monopolies on cultivation arts. 1008 1011
