Nature
Fate Stars are among the structures within a person’s Fate Mansion, alongside Fate Grounds, Fate Pillars, Fate Patterns, and Fate Spirits. While a person’s innate Fate Mansion is generally fixed, Fate Stars can change, be acquired, removed, concealed, or strengthened 17 53.
A Fate Star is usually associated with a Fate Pillar and a particular Fate Ground. Its placement matters: the same Fate Star can produce different results in the Youth and Young Adult Fate Grounds 53 191.
- Fate Stars influence a person’s life continuously.
- Fate Patterns arise from the interaction of multiple Fate Stars and affect life more broadly and persistently.
- Fate Spirits may emerge from a sufficiently complete Fate Pattern and influence greater circumstances rather than immediate events 471.
- A favorable Fate Star alone is not enough to guarantee success; its Fate Ground, Fate Pillars, neighboring stars, and elemental balance may weaken or negate it 471.
Types
| Type | Description | Known Example |
|---|---|---|
| Heavenly Fate Star | A Fate Star of exceptional innate significance. | Sun and Moon Ascendant, described as “supremely noble” 112. |
| Human Fate Star | A Fate Star tied to human circumstance, achievement, or development. | Kingfisher Gives Nests and Heaped Earth Reaches Mountain 54 287. |
| Hidden Fate Star | Conceals another Fate Star within the Fate Mansion and interferes with Fate Arts deductions. | Heaven-Shifting Sun-Changing 404. |
| Independent Fate Star | No longer dependent on its original owner. It may be created through prolonged Life-Seizing Art or persist after an unusual owner’s death. | Independent Fate Stars are highly valued currency in the Fate Arts world 180. |
| Eerie Fate Star | A Fate Star connected to Eerie power and capable of unpredictable mutation. | Li Qingxian possesses Eerie Fate Stars but initially avoids using them because of their uncertain effects 342. |
Rank
Documented Fate Star ranks include the following:
| Rank | Documented Examples |
|---|---|
| Lower Rank | Sparse-Grass Yellow Sheep, a stable but ordinary Fate Mold 53. |
| Middle Rank | Heavenly Cloud Concealing the Moon, offered at Beast Bridge for five hundred thousand taels or equivalent resources 181. |
| Upper Rank | Heaped Earth Reaches Mountain and Crane Standing Above the Sea Turtle’s Head 287 471. |
| Beyond-Rank | Sun and Moon Ascendant, Divine Radiance Wutong Grove, and Majestic Storm Mountain 1098 754 886. |
Fate Patterns and Placement
Fate Stars can reinforce, restrain, drain, punish, or clash with one another. A Fate Arts Master must consider elemental relationships, the Fate Ground, the Four Pillars, and the wider Fate Mansion before rearranging them 191 325 471.
- Four mutually supporting Fate Stars formed Great Sir’s Four Waters Birth Spring Fate Pattern, which gave him a persistent chance of survival in danger 469.
- Removing a key Fate Star can collapse a Fate Pattern and severely weaken its owner’s future prospects 471 472.
- An excess of Earth Fate Stars can bury Metal, creating an unstable Earth-burying-Metal configuration and risking disastrous fate alteration 191.
- Li Qingxian formed Climbing Mountains, Crossing Seas from Sea Embraces All Rivers, Dripping Water Forms a Lake, Heaped Earth Reaches Mountain, and Fixed Stone Mountain; its earth-water conflict initially prevented the birth of a Fate Spirit 501.
- A Fate Star may be valuable in one Fate Ground but harmful or ineffective in another. Iron Pestle Grinds Needle, for example, is better suited to a Youth Fate Ground because it represents cultivation from childhood 191.
Acquisition and Manipulation
| Method | Details |
|---|---|
| Natural descent | Fate Stars may descend from the heavens. Some seek people with great Fortune, while others fall randomly or can be lured by Fate Arts 323. |
| Star-Attracting Technique | A Fate Arts Master may draw an unclaimed Fate Star into their Fate Mansion with this low-consumption technique 287. |
| Life Buying | A purchased Fate Star may be used, but ownership remains with its original owner; it disappears if that owner dies 249. |
| Life-Hunting Art | Requires a Fortune Fish and a Fate Mold, but makes the fished Fate Star wholly belong to the user 249. |
| Fate Fishing Rod | A Fate Artifact capable of using Fate Stars as bait, fishing for new stars, and later piercing the void to hook distant Fate Stars 71 325. |
| Fate-Star Angling | A cruel form of mutual Life Buying and selling. Removing connected Fate Stars can break the target’s Fate Pattern 471. |
| Fate Artifact capture | Fate Artifacts such as the Fate-Setting Scale, Fortune Measuring Ruler, Heaven-Gazing Mirror, Seeking Immortal Bee, Fate Disk, and Fate Fishing Rod can compete to seize descending Fate Stars 324. |
| Storage | Unused Fate Stars can be stored in a cultivator’s Spirit Platform 325. |
Concealment and Verification
Hidden or forged Fate Stars are a major danger in the Fate Arts world.
- Fate Stars may be forged or disguised, making expert inspection necessary before purchase 181.
- Fish Eyes Among Pearls can wrap a genuine Fate Star, leaving observers able to perceive its form but not access its true power 404.
- Heaven-Shifting Sun-Changing can hide another Fate Star within a Fate Mansion and cause ordinary Fate Arts deductions to produce false results 404.
- Li Qingxian used the Jade Imperial Seal to strengthen his Fate Fishing Rod sufficiently to extract the concealed Emperor Star from Fish Eyes Among Pearls 404.
Notable Fate Stars
| Fate Star | Classification / Rank | Known Effects |
|---|---|---|
| Sun and Moon Ascendant | Heavenly; Beyond-Rank | Represents enduring prosperity, noble foundations, imperial blood, and favorable circumstances from birth or, in the Elderly Fate Ground, a secure ending 112 1098. |
| Heaped Earth Reaches Mountain | Human; Upper Rank → Beyond-Rank | Builds power through gradual accumulation; its potential is theoretically without a fixed upper limit when paired with similarly cumulative Fate Stars 287 886. |
| Sea Embraces All Rivers | Upper Rank | Especially valuable for navigating Grand Momentum Configurations; later became part of Climbing Mountains, Crossing Seas 409 501. |
| Crane Standing Above the Sea Turtle’s Head | Upper Rank | Allows its bearer to stand out among competitors and can reverse circumstances at decisive moments 471. |
| Wonder-Devourer | Heavenly Fate Star | Absorbs others’ Fortune and may eventually become the legendary Heaven-Devourer, but risks catastrophic backlash if it devours a stronger target 703. |
| Fierce World War Lord | Beyond-Rank | Strengthens through continual victory, Fortune, and accumulated Fate Mold rather than indiscriminate slaughter 847. |
| Heaven-Earth Chessboard | Human; Upper Rank | Represents the world as a board of stars, land, waterways, roads, and human affairs; grants its owner the standing to oppose Mandate’s Children under the world’s rules 969. |
| Majestic Storm Mountain | Beyond-Rank | Born from accumulated human endeavor and natural forces; granted Li Qingxian immense knowledge related to Fate Arts, the Dao, and diligent study 886. |
| I Determine My Own Fate | Human | A seemingly empty Fate Star in which destiny threads gradually weave a figure of Li Qingxian 1185. |
Risks and Limitations
- Fate Stars can clash through generation, restraint, punishment, depletion, and leakage; taking a seemingly beneficial Fate Star without considering compatibility can damage a Fate Mold 325.
- Great-evil Fate Stars can carry mental and emotional contamination. Observing Tao Zhi’s Sin Peach Demon exposed Li Qingxian to the cries, fear, and malice associated with its victims 54.
- Fate Patterns are difficult to suppress while intact, but can lose their power entirely when a core component is removed 471.
- Ordinary people cannot normally control a Fate Star even if one descends to them; this requires the capability of a Fate Arts Master 287.
- Altering Fate Patterns recklessly is a Fate Arts taboo. Imbalances may cause fate alteration, calamity, or collapse beyond the practitioner’s ability to control 191.
