Background / History
Good Fortune Born was born a concubine’s son in a marquis household. Once unknown, he rapidly rose after entering a senior cultivator’s cave estate, gaining Heavenly Fire True Intent and reaching Ninth Rank. His extraordinary Destiny Mold repeatedly brought him treasures, inheritances, and opportunities, although he did not initially understand its true scale. 102 126
During the Weird Village incident, Sunshine Boy identified Good Fortune Born as the group’s strongest Destiny-Mold bearer and repeatedly pushed him into the most dangerous tasks. Sunshine Boy’s Fate Observation revealed a golden-brick Destiny Mansion, a Turtle-Knobbed Golden Seal, and Destiny Stars powerful enough to rival an imperial configuration. Good Fortune Born reluctantly supplied blood, hair, nails, clothing, and personal items for the Three-Candle Nine-Incense Death-Urging Method, which weakened him through fate-binding. 112 113 114
His attempts to escape sacrifice duties often endangered others. He used a mandarin-duck handkerchief to disguise himself as a Night Guard and redirect a fatal assignment, then spent the power of the Yin-Yang Fish-Dragon Jade Pendant to avoid being chosen as cattle-catcher. 124 125 Later, desperate to survive the Weird Mother’s hostility, he traded Sunlit Golden Mountain, Destiny materials, and the refining method of the Great Principle-Slaying Sword for a Life-Replacement Wooden Child. 126 127
During the Azure Cloud Examination, Good Fortune Born was widely suspected to be Heaven’s Mandate Sect’s Son of Man. Although only he could naturally bear the true Emperor Star, Purple Tenuity Illumination, Li Qingxian deceived him into believing he was paying homage to an immortal and manipulated the Fate Star Balance so that he accepted an inferior Destiny Star arrangement instead. 406 407 408
Good Fortune Born subsequently lost further power when Li Qingxian uprooted Sea Embraces All Rivers, its Golden-Brick Destiny Ground, and its Coiling Dragon Destiny Pillar through the Jade Ring Toss. Li later deliberately damaged Good Fortune Born’s remaining Destiny Pillar and Destiny Ground to conceal and weaken his potential. 409 410
His alliance with the Prince of Chu deteriorated after the prince forced him to use the Grim-Faced Spider King in a near-fatal conflict. The resulting Demon God Curse consumed his fortune, caused hallucinations and physical mutations, and drove him to seek help from Li Qingxian and Gai Fengyou. 722 745 752
Appearance
Before the Demon God Curse worsened, Good Fortune Born was a handsome young man with long black hair and a pointed chin. His later condition became increasingly unnatural as the curse consumed his fortune and destabilized his body. 113 125 745
- Wore a Flying-Crane-Pattern Ancient Jade Pendant, a relic from his mother’s dowry. 745 782
- Became pale, aged, and visibly haunted as the Eerie Ground drained his fortune. 745
- Transformed into a monstrous bear-like being with a human head, mixed iron, wood, bronze, and stone limbs, and tumors on both shoulders. 772
- Emerged from Eerie Town as an ape-man after the town’s curse was lifted. 810
Personality
Good Fortune Born is proud, opportunistic, and intensely protective of his own survival. He initially relied on his extraordinary fortune as a safety net, hoarded Destiny knowledge and treasures, and redirected danger toward others when threatened. His actions in the Weird Village and against the Beyond-Rank Fate Corpse made allies fear that proximity to him could become fatal. 124 125 396
He is also resourceful and adaptable. When direct resistance fails, he bargains, disguises himself, trades rare Destiny Stars, expends life-saving artifacts, or seeks stronger patrons. Even after losing much of his fortune, he retained the confidence to believe that weaker Destiny Stars could eventually be replaced by better ones. 126 396 753
The Demon God Curse forced a gradual change in outlook. Good Fortune Born came to reject conspiring against others merely for short-term gain, expressed remorse for past harm, and sought reconciliation with Li Qingxian. His reform remained incomplete: he continued to posture publicly and pursue personal advantage, but began stopping short of the ruthlessness that had defined him earlier. 753 758
