Chu Yang destroyed the Nine Li Dynasty and struck the Ruthless lineage while helping Ye Fan claim an ancient Great Emperor’s inheritance. In another world, Chu Yang protected Liu Ruyan, began cultivating immortality, and killed a demon python for Wei Zheng’s aid.

• Chu Yang killed the Nine Li Ancestor, razed Nine Li Imperial City, and destroyed the dynasty after it joined the Ruthless lineage against Ye Fan.
• Ye Fan discovered a forbidden land with the Green Bronze Fragment, and Chu Yang joined him on an expedition to the Extreme North Land.
• Chu Yang killed Hua Yunfei and the Ruthless lineage’s attackers, then Ye Fan opened the sealed door and received an ancient Great Emperor’s inheritance.
• In the Soul Palace, Journey to the West Chu Yang learned from his counterparts to seek Taibai Jinxing’s help and returned to clear his name and protect Liu Ruyan.
• Journey to the West Chu Yang won a poetry contest, defeated Cui Yuanlang’s men, met Taibai Jinxing, and began cultivating with the Taiyi Qi Cultivation Art.
• Chu Yang brought Liu Ruyan to Qingyun Valley, advanced in cultivation, and returned with her to Chang’an, where he fought Cui Yuanlang’s guards.
• Chu Yang agreed to kill the demon python at Yuntai Mountain in exchange for Wei Zheng protecting the Liu Family, then slew it with a Lightning Gathering Array.

Chu Yang joined Xuanzang’s pilgrimage, befriended Sun Wukong, and helped the group face demons while challenging rigid precepts and testing the motives behind their trials. After rescuing Xuanzang from Yellow Wind Cave, the pilgrims reached a drought-stricken city, where Chu Yang found a possible underground water source.

• Chu Yang left Chang’an for Five Elements Mountain, befriended Sun Wukong with food and wine, and joined Xuanzang’s pilgrimage after warning Sun Wukong that Guanyin’s floral cap held a Golden Headband.
• Chu Yang helped Xuanzang and Sun Wukong confront the Black Wind Monster and Lady Bai Gu, then guided Xuanzang to trust Sun Wukong when he killed demons that threatened travelers.
• At Gao Village, Sun Wukong defeated Zhu Bajie, and Xuanzang accepted him as a disciple named Wuneng.
• Chu Yang persuaded Zhu Bajie to leave Willow Creek Village and continue the pilgrimage, then helped Xuanzang understand why killing dangerous demons could protect others.
• At Guanyin Temple, Chu Yang helped Elder Jin Chi reconsider his attachment to his kasayas and prevented him from taking Tang Monk’s Brocade Kasaya during the night.
• Chu Yang fought Tiger Vanguard at Yellow Wind Ridge and was rescued by Sun Wukong, then questioned Guanyin’s role in the pilgrimage’s trials and joined Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie in rescuing Xuanzang from Yellow Wind Cave.
• Sun Wukong defeated Great King Yellow Wind with Guanyin’s Wind-Calming Pill, and Chu Yang recovered Tang Monk’s kasaya and treasure before giving Zhu Bajie rune-engraved Copper Hammers.
• In a drought-stricken city, Tang Monk and Chu Yang organized relief for the victims, and Chu Yang located a likely underground water source that Sun Wukong agreed to help uncover the next morning.

Chu Yang helped restore Zaohua Valley, outmaneuver Lady Bai Gu, and accompany Tang Monk through several trials while strengthening his own techniques. After Tang Monk refused the King of Women's Country and the party avoided Abortion Spring, Chu Yang warned that the Three Great Demon Kings awaited them ahead.

• Chu Yang and the pilgrims found groundwater for a drought-stricken city, then rested at Baolin Temple, where Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie taught Chu Yang Wind-Path and Water-Path Evasion.
• Chu Yang, Sun Wukong, and Zhu Bajie helped the Earth God cleanse the contaminated earth-vein node beneath Black Pine Ridge, allowing Zaohua Valley to begin recovering.
• Lady Bai Gu sent spies to track the group, but Chu Yang recognized her disguises and let her continue as Cui'er until Guanyin intervened and declared the trial passed.
• Sun Wukong attacked Master Hu after the thugs injured Li Shitou, then reconciled with Tang Monk after Chu Yang comforted him in a dry well.
• In Baoxiang Kingdom, Chu Yang exposed the weakness in the Yellow Robe Monster's accusation, and Guanyin subdued Kui Mulang after he revealed his true form.
• At Qingxu Temple, Qingxu Zi taught Sun Wukong the Heart Calming Incantation and taught Chu Yang the Wind Control Technique.
• The King of Women's Country asked Tang Monk to marry her and offered him her throne, but he refused and left with his disciples, avoiding Abortion Spring.
• As the party set out west, Chu Yang warned Sun Wukong and Zhu Bajie that the Three Great Demon Kings of Lion Camel Ridge awaited them.

Sun Wukong and Chu Yang rescued Tang Monk from the demons of Lion Camel Ridge, then confronted the Bodhisattvas whose mounts had terrorized the region. The Green Mane Lion Monster’s fate was left in Manjushri Bodhisattva’s hands, while Chu Yang rejected Samantabhadra Bodhisattva’s inadequate compensation.

• Sun Wukong and Chu Yang rescued villagers from the Black Wind Monster, spared him after he promised to reform, and continued west toward Lion Camel Ridge.
• Sun Wukong and Chu Yang infiltrated Lion Camel Ridge, learned about its defenses, and led Tang Monk’s group along the Back Mountain path to escape the three demon kings.
• The Golden Winged Great Peng captured Tang Monk, and Sun Wukong and Chu Yang infiltrated the stronghold to rescue him.
• Sun Wukong freed Tang Monk while Chu Yang fought the Yellow Tusk Elephant Monster and delayed the Golden Winged Great Peng, then Sun Wukong carried Tang Monk and the unconscious Chu Yang to safety.
• Chu Yang told Sun Wukong that the demon kings were the mounts of Manjushri Bodhisattva and Samantabhadra Bodhisattva and a relative of Tathagata, so Sun Wukong took the Image Recording Stone to confront them.
• Sun Wukong and Chu Yang confronted Manjushri Bodhisattva with evidence of the Green Mane Lion Monster’s crimes, and she admitted it was her escaped mount and agreed to return to Lion Camel Ridge.
• Sun Wukong and Chu Yang confronted Samantabhadra Bodhisattva over the Yellow Tusk Elephant Monster, and Chu Yang rejected her Peace Talisman as inadequate compensation for his injuries and damaged Natal Flying Sword.
