The massive lightning bolt made the Upper Evil Spirit tremble violently. Compared to before, its eyes had rolled white, and it was on the verge of passing out.

Pain!

Unimaginable pain!

Pain far worse than beheading, being cut in half, burning, or drowning.

Even being crushed to pieces was less than one percent as painful as this.

The Upper Evil Spirit desperately wanted to scream.

But it couldn't.

Because this concerned the plan between it and its Boss.

Once it cried out, even if there was compensation afterward, something would still be missed.

That was something it absolutely could not allow!

So, it began distracting itself.

Distracting itself was a method the Upper Evil Spirit had gradually figured out while enduring pain.

It imagined warm sunlight in its mind.

It could almost hear the sound of waves by its ears.

That was its hometown: the West Coast!

The sea breeze brushed against its face. It wasn't gentle, yet it was filled with longing. Even now, it regretted not going ashore that morning and instead lingering on that ship.

If it had gone ashore sooner, perhaps it would have lived a different life.

It wouldn't have met its Boss.

It wouldn't have been exploited by its Boss.

And it certainly wouldn't have been used as a lightning rod here.

Back then, it definitely would have lived comfortably.

Every morning, it would wake up to sunlight and enjoy a hearty breakfast. The waitstaff would give it warm smiles, as dazzling as fireworks beneath a starry sky.

At noon, it would go to the finest restaurant for a steak or lamb chops.

Preferably seasoned with cumin or black pepper. That flavor... what would that flavor be like?

I've never even tasted it. How would I know what it tastes like?

Damn it, (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻.
