For Cheng Jue, who possessed an abundance of Merit, the Merit consumed by insights into the early stages of the Great Dao was not much at all. After all, Merit was like excellent currency; exchanging it for such inferior coins as early-stage Great Dao insights was hardly difficult, was it?

If Merit were ever consumed in vast quantities, it would surely concern the Heaven, Earth, and Human Daos of the Primordial World—or an existence beyond the Primordial World, such as Chaos.

That was why Cheng Jue could spend Merit to obtain Zhongli's insights into the Primordial Unity Dao. Of course, those insights were all deduced from Zhongli's present cultivation. Perhaps Zhongli of the future would walk another Great Dao altogether.
