Nemesis's heavy footsteps struck at everyone's hearts like a funeral bell.

The Gatling gun on its shoulder continuously spat fire, bullets sweeping across the side of the overpass like a metal storm, riddling the reinforced concrete with holes and sending shattered stones flying.

The overwhelming firepower left Zu Hao and Alice almost unable to raise their heads.

"Alice, find a way to draw that monster's attention. I'll take it out with the sniper rifle."

Zu Hao surveyed the area, saw no cameras, and immediately took a Barrett M82A1 anti-materiel sniper rifle from his storage space.

He swiftly loaded an armor-piercing round.

Alice stared blankly at the massive sniper rifle Zu Hao had suddenly produced, but she understood that this was not the time to get to the bottom of it.

"I'm counting on you!"

With that, Alice took a deep breath, made a running start, and suddenly leaped off the five- or six-meter-high overpass.

While still in midair, Alice held a submachine gun in each hand and unleashed a frantic barrage at Nemesis.

Alice's aim was extremely accurate, and most of the bullets struck Nemesis's torso and head precisely.

However, after Umbrella Corporation's modifications, Nemesis possessed an incredibly durable body and wore specially made bulletproof leather armor. Ordinary bullets could not penetrate it at all.

Even the few bullets that hit its head only left shallow marks on its skull and could not inflict fatal damage.

After that volley, Alice had successfully drawn Nemesis's attention. She rolled as she landed to cushion the impact, then burst into a sprint, intending to get close and deliver a heavy blow.

But Nemesis reacted far faster than expected. Its enormous arm swept out, violently hurling Alice toward a bridge pillar.

"Ugh!"

Alice grunted and slammed hard into the concrete pillar.

Before she could catch her breath, Nemesis had already raised the Gatling gun and aimed its muzzle in her direction.

Alice hurriedly darted behind the pillar. The next second, dense bullets poured down like a rainstorm, blasting stone chips from the pillar.

Alice was forced to curl up, minimizing the risk of being hit.

Just as Nemesis focused all its fire on Alice and its attention was completely occupied, Zu Hao quickly reached the edge of the bridge.

He steadily braced the Barrett sniper rifle loaded with armor-piercing rounds, its scope firmly locked onto the back of Nemesis's head.

He adjusted his breathing, calmed his mind like still water, and pulled the trigger.

Bang!

The armor-piercing round left the barrel at tremendous velocity, tore through the air, and accurately burrowed into Nemesis's skull.

The next instant, Nemesis's head exploded like a watermelon stuffed with firecrackers, red and white matter splattering everywhere.

Its headless body swayed twice before crashing heavily to the ground, and the Gatling gun's roar abruptly ceased.

Putting away the sniper rifle, Zu Hao shouted to Jill behind him, "Meet up at the end of the bridge!"

With that, he leaped without hesitation from the several-meter-high overpass. Landing lightly, he immediately ran toward Alice.

Bella came to the edge of the bridge with her camera and filmed Zu Hao's retreating figure, unable to stop herself from exclaiming, "He's practically Superman!"

"Let's go."

Though equally shocked, Jill remained calm.

Zu Hao met up with Alice.

The two quickly searched Nemesis's body and found that the Gatling gun still had more than three thousand rounds remaining. There was also a shoulder-fired rocket launcher and five rockets.

That was serious firepower, enough to punch through even a tank.

After looking around and confirming there were no cameras, Zu Hao said, "I'll hold onto these for now."

As he spoke, Zu Hao put the rocket launcher, rockets, Gatling gun, and ammunition boxes into his storage space right in front of Alice.

Seeing this bizarre sight, Alice could not help asking, "How did you do that?"

"You can think of it as my special ability. I can only store some small things. None of that matters right now. Getting out of here is what matters most."

Zu Hao spoke as he prepared to leave.

Alice was about to follow when she suddenly saw the three scars on Nemesis's arm. Her expression changed. "He's Matt!"

Matt had been Alice's companion in the first Resident Evil, fighting alongside her. Later, he had been scratched by a Licker and taken away by Umbrella Corporation while escaping the Hive.

Alice had never expected Matt to be transformed into this.

In the original plot, Nemesis had regained part of his consciousness at the last moment and helped Alice and the others escape.

Though Zu Hao knew that, he had no intention of gambling on such a possibility.

Meanwhile, at Umbrella Corporation's temporary camp, Thomas watched helplessly as the surveillance feed suddenly turned to static, his expression instantly becoming terrifyingly grim.

"What's going on?"

He roared furiously.

"The signal has been cut off!"

The technician answered in panic, fingers flying across the keyboard, yet unable to restore any signal.

"Damn it!"

Thomas slammed a fist onto the console. "Immediately dispatch a reconnaissance team to the area where the signal was lost! I want to know what happened in the shortest possible time!"

Umbrella Corporation had invested enormous resources to create Nemesis, only for it to lose contact during its first real battle. If his superiors held him accountable, he would not escape blame.

Alice and Zu Hao jogged all the way and soon met up with Jill and Bella at the end of the bridge.

There were quite a few abandoned vehicles nearby. Zu Hao found one that could still start, and everyone immediately got in.

Jill sat in the front passenger seat and gave directions. As a local police officer, she knew Raccoon City's streets like the back of her hand.

Zu Hao was an excellent driver, weaving flexibly through abandoned vehicles as they sped toward Raccoon City Elementary School.

Along the way, two armed helicopters roared overhead, heading straight toward the overpass.

They were undoubtedly Umbrella Corporation's team sent to investigate Nemesis's disappearance.

On the way to Raccoon City Elementary School, aside from a few scattered zombies that were sent flying by the car, the journey was smooth.

After arriving at the school entrance, everyone got out and organized their equipment.

Once inside, Jill suggested, "Let's split up. It'll be faster that way."

Zu Hao lifted the heavy Gatling gun with one hand and smiled. "No need. Go to the basketball court. Angela is there."

Jill asked in surprise, "How do you know?"

"Special perception."

Zu Hao answered concisely.

Both he and Alice could sense the approximate locations of T-virus carriers, and the reaction coming from the basketball court was the strongest.

Jill and Bella did not understand, but they were impressed.

The group immediately headed for the basketball court.

Along the way, they encountered a group of infected elementary school zombie children.

To avoid causing too much noise, Zu Hao and Alice did not use firearms. Instead, they drew their kukri knives and worked in perfect coordination, swiftly and quietly taking care of the little zombies.

After the last zombie child fell, a timid child's voice came from a storage locker in the corner. "Are you here to save me?"

The locker door slowly opened, and a freckled little girl of around twelve crawled out.

Surprisingly, despite the corpses all over the floor, she was exceptionally calm and did not let out a terrified scream.

Alice stepped forward and asked softly, "Are you Angela?"

The little girl nodded, her tone anxious. "That's right. We need to leave quickly, before those things come."

"What things?"

Jill asked in confusion.

Zu Hao's gaze sharpened. He took the Gatling gun from Jill's hands, turned toward the door, and said in a low voice, "They're already here."

The moment he finished speaking, several zombie dogs rushed into the basketball court.

These large dogs had originally been Rottweilers. After being infected with the T-virus, their aggression had soared, and they were agile, far more dangerous than ordinary zombies.

Zu Hao raised the Gatling gun and fired a sweeping barrage. Amid the deafening gunfire, the zombie dogs were shredded to pieces before they could get close.

Alice looked at Angela. "She's infected, and heavily infected."

Jill asked doubtfully, "How do you know that?"

"Because she's the same as you two."

Angela looked toward Alice and Zu Hao.

There was a special sense of connection between them.

At those words, Jill immediately grew tense. "You never told me that."

Zu Hao said, "Alice and I are special infected individuals. We have the ability to resist the T-virus, and we won't infect anyone."

Jill was still unconvinced. "How do I know you're telling the truth?"

Zu Hao looked at Angela. "Take out the medicine."

Angela immediately handed her backpack to Zu Hao.

After opening it, Zu Hao revealed the T-virus and antidotes inside, five of each.

Zu Hao took out four T-virus injections and directly injected them into his arm.

"Motherfucker, what are you doing? Are you insane?"

Both Jill and Alice grew tense, afraid that Zu Hao would suddenly turn into a zombie.
