Alice stared, dumbfounded.

Where had he gone? Where had such a big person disappeared to?

She knew Xiao Miao possessed some strange abilities, but what she had just seen still opened her eyes.

A living person turning into red light and merging into someone else's body was far beyond Alice's imagination.

"Come out," Xiao Miao called softly. The katana pattern on his wrist transformed back into magic power, flew into the cabin, and became Saeko Busujima.

She was still wearing her original clothes, which, like her body, were entirely formed from magic power. In theory, Saeko Busujima would never need to buy clothes again. She could simply create whatever style she wanted with magic power.

But theory was theory. Xiao Miao would not truly be that heartless.

Saeko Busujima had been willing to trust him after knowing him for only a short time, giving up everything to become his slave. Naturally, Xiao Miao would treat her sincerely and cherish her as his woman.

"This feeling is so amazing!" Saeko Busujima raised both hands and grasped at the air. Her strength had not changed much, yet everything felt completely different from before.

At the very least, the period that had started yesterday no longer bothered her at all.

That was nice. From now on, she could drink cold beverages all 365 days of the year without worrying about her period.

A body of magic power was completely different from a human body, and Saeko Busujima needed time to explore it.

Xiao Miao had just paid 50 Fate Points for the stay, and the one-hour countdown had only just begun. He could return immediately, but he did not want to waste money.

He might as well let Saeko Busujima get familiar with her body during this time.

Alice planned to circle around at sea, land in Korea by boat, then fly back to the United States.

Considering that he had successively experienced Resident Evil 2, I Am Legend: Prologue, and Highschool of the Dead, Xiao Miao felt that Alice would likely encounter Train to Busan in Korea, so he warned her.

Alice was completely fearless. "It's fine. After seeing those incredible abilities of yours, I feel like something inside me is brewing. Maybe one more crisis will make it fully awaken."

Xiao Miao knew what she meant.

He had finally drawn the Alice character card he had been longing for, but it bore an Unawakened tag. It was bad news amid good news.

Xiao Miao was fairly satisfied with the draw results, since they were all quite practical. He had originally prepared himself to draw six pieces of trash.

Well, except for the Blood Queen's dudou. Xiao Miao truly could not imagine what it could be used for. Even without Saeko Busujima, he would not have any lewd thoughts about it.

Half an hour later, a missile streaked across the sky. The three people aboard looked up, and two of them instinctively tensed all over—Xiao Miao and Alice.

"A lone missile launched from who-knows-where at a city suffering a zombie outbreak. This plot feels awfully familiar," Xiao Miao muttered as he wiped away sweat.

"Yeah." Alice nodded. She thought it looked familiar too.

Their guess was quickly confirmed. Before long, a blinding light erupted on the distant horizon. The clouds high above were swept away by a terrifying shockwave, followed by a black-and-red mushroom cloud.

"It really was a nuclear bomb."

"An airburst nuclear bomb. It's detonating far too high. Something's wrong."

The Purple Wisteria family knew nothing about the nuclear bomb. Xiao Miao had only just remembered that a nuclear bomb really had exploded in the original story.

The bomb had detonated in the upper atmosphere and caused no direct casualties, but the EMP it released instantly destroyed every electronic device in Tokonosu City.

Thinking about it now, this seemed more like a test conducted by Umbrella Corporation, simply to observe how long humanity could endure against the zombie virus weapon after losing electronic products.

Xiao Miao wiped cold sweat from his forehead. Thankfully, he had escaped quickly. Otherwise, if he ate two nuclear bombs in less than half a month, he really would become a nuke magnet.

Xiao Miao shared his guess. Alice deeply agreed, while Saeko Busujima listened silently, her fists tightening tighter and tighter.

"Umbrella Corporation!!!"

The words were practically squeezed out through Saeko Busujima's clenched teeth. She abruptly looked up at Xiao Miao. "Xiao Miao... Master, will I have a chance to come back and take revenge?"

Her father had died in Raccoon City. Her classmates and friends had also been ravaged by the zombie virus. Umbrella Corporation had, in effect, forcibly destroyed every friend and relative Saeko Busujima had.

Xiao Miao nodded. "Don't worry. We'll come back."

Saeko Busujima stood and gazed toward Tokonosu City. After a long while, she voluntarily transformed into crimson magic power and entered Xiao Miao's body.

With Xiao Miao's permission, she could observe outside information through the slave contract. Staying inside Xiao Miao's body was no different from being outside.

Rather, compared to remaining outside alone, she preferred the state of merging into Xiao Miao's body. She felt warm all over, as though she were being nourished.

The hour passed in the blink of an eye. The countdown ended, and Xiao Miao confirmed his return.

"Alice, we'll meet again if fate allows."

"See you!"

White light filled his vision. Xiao Miao instantly lost consciousness, and when he came to, he found himself back in the rundown little house in the 18th Ring Shantytown.

"Is this where Master used to live?" Saeko Busujima's voice sounded through the contract.

"It was, but it won't be from now on."

As he spoke, Xiao Miao looked around, frowning deeply. "And my place wasn't this messy. We've been robbed."

Though his life as an orphan had been poor, he was not a slob. Even while struggling to make a living, he cleaned regularly. At the very least, the tables, chairs, stools, and trash can would not be strewn all over the place.

A conversation drifted from outside the bedroom. Xiao Miao softened his footsteps as he approached the bedroom door and pressed his ear close.

"Boss, isn't this a little wrong?"

"Yeah. What if this kid got lucky and awakened some powerful talent? If he comes back and sees what we've done to his place, won't he come after us?"

"You two idiots, how could a newcomer's first crossing possibly take this long? It's already been over ten days!"

"Boss, you mean..."

"That's right. That brat probably encountered a safe world during his first mission, cut off the connection, and defected. Orphans with no ties are all like that!"

"Damn it, I'm so jealous!"

"Ah, we don't have that kind of luck. We can only survive by living off the property these traitors leave behind. Second, search the bedroom again. Don't leave behind anything that can be exchanged for money."

"Got it, Boss."

By then, Xiao Miao understood. The Corpse-Eating Gang from the shantytown had come knocking.

Footsteps approached. A sharp-faced man pushed open the bedroom door and immediately saw the youth who had appeared out of nowhere inside.

A figure flew out of the bedroom and crashed heavily at the feet of the people in the living room.

Xiao Miao walked out of the bedroom, his gaze sweeping across the four people who faced him as though confronting a great enemy.

"Everyone, the hundred million Hu coins I hid under my bed are missing. Do you have any idea where they went?"
