The man looked utterly unconcerned, but his gaze grew sharp.
By now, Merlin had guessed who he was. In the Combat Division, only one person possessed strength comparable to full beastification: the division leader, Black Bear Hert.
"So you're Division Leader Hert."
"Heh, what, lost your nerve? You weren't like this when you killed Black Bat. Come on. You've been appointed deputy leader from outside. If you don't fight me, your subordinates won't really accept you."
Merlin did not know the Combat Division's rules, but its members were all proud, unruly people who faced life and death every day. Naturally, they were harder to tame than ordinary people.
It seemed that fighting Hert was also a test for entering the Combat Division.
Once he understood that, Merlin stopped refusing. He nodded and said, "Then let me see the division leader's Black Bear King behemoth for myself!"
Hert's behemoth bloodline was the renowned Black Bear King. Even among mid-tier behemoths, it was a top-class bloodline, more terrifying than Count Stanwen's terror crocodile bloodline. Black Bat could not compare to him at all.
A Black Bear King would be a dominant force anywhere, so Merlin also wanted to see what the truly elite combat power of this world looked like.
Merlin stepped onto the arena platform and faced Hert. The platform was made from special materials capable of withstanding tremendously powerful impacts, but neither of them moved first. They simply stood facing each other in silence.
Before anyone realized it, a crowd had gathered below the platform. Even those fighting on the other platforms had stopped, a hint of excitement in their eyes.
