"My Mage's Heart... I finally did it!"
Merlin looked at the mage's hearts within his Sea of Consciousness. Only five remained now. Four smaller mage's hearts were scattered around the edges, surrounding a larger golden mage's heart like stars clustered around the moon.
This larger, remarkably distinctive mage's heart was the Fire-and-Lightning Mage's Heart that Merlin had just successfully fused. The two had become one, brimming with power.
"Fire!"
Merlin pointed a finger, and a ball of flame immediately coiled around his fingertip, changing shape at his whim. One moment, it became a fire serpent; the next, it swelled wildly into a roaring, ferocious fire dragon.
Then, with a thought from Merlin, the fire dragon flashed. Streaks of lightning appeared across its body, binding it like chains.

There was no conflict whatsoever between lightning spells and fire spells. In this respect, it was already little different from the Rainbow Mage's Hearts of those Archmages.
Moreover, he had just tested the mage's heart formed by fusing two elements, and its power had clearly increased considerably. It was almost as powerful as his former four-element spell fusion, nearly reaching the threshold of the Legendary level. It was only slightly weaker than the seventh form of Dark Eye.
Withdrawing his mage's heart, Merlin recalled the dangers he had encountered during the fusion. It had truly been far too dangerous. The "simulated" fusion in the Illusory World had indeed helped, but he could not take it as an entirely accurate reflection of reality.
After all, all sorts of unexpected situations could arise under real conditions. Fortunately, Merlin had drawn on
