The Blackfire Monarch himself was a Mental Power User who had reached the second step of the Illusion Realm, and he understood illusions extremely well. He knew that Merlin's illusions were already far beyond his own.

There was a drawback, however: he could not sustain it for long! Merlin could only keep the illusory world active for a short time.
