It took the doctor less than three days to get everything ready. After Ian completed the inspection, they began to implement the plan. Clara wore a device on his head and closed his eyes.
"Concentrate... you just need to keep thinking about how to get to Gallifrey," Ian said in a soothing tone, and then looked at the doctor. The doctor also has his own device, which is a bracelet worn on his wrist.
"Let's get started."
TARDIS shook slightly, and a screen appeared in front of each of them. They saw TARDIS dragging Floating City, shuttling through the blue channel of Time Vortex. The other part of the screen showed them countless data.
"She has successfully accessed my timeline," the doctor said, surprised by how smooth the process was. This not only proved that Ian was not lying, but also showed that there was a deep connection between him and Clara.
"Clara, what did you see?"
"I saw... myself, and different versions of you. Young, middle-aged, handsome, ugly, and even a female version."
"A woman? Will my next rebirth be a woman? Damn, this is going to be interesting."
Ian glanced at him without explaining. The current doctor has not been to Trenzalore, nor has he been given a new round of 12 rebirth opportunities. Therefore, he is convinced that his life will end after the next rebirth.
"Clara, concentrate. Follow the doctor to a period of great war - that is our destination," Ian said.
"Wars? There were quite a few... too many to count."
"Go find the biggest one you see."
"Okay... okay," she replied, a look of concentration on her face.
Boom!
TARDIS shook violently, knocking everyone away. Ian reacted quickly and instantly magnetized his boots, firmly fixing him on the floor; he even had time to create a magnetic shield around Clara. With his superior physical fitness, he stayed firmly in place, but others were not so lucky.
The doctor's condition was relatively good; his constitution belonging to Gallifreyans was much stronger than that of humans. However, despite Ian's protection, Clara still suffered a nosebleed.
"Are you okay?"
"It's okay, thank you."
"You're welcome." Ian looked at the doctor, "What happened?"
"Fortunately, we took preventive measures," the doctor said, watching Clara's face gradually fade away. Then, he turned his eyes to the screen.
"Time War is a fixed time point on the timeline, so it is protected by huge time energy in the vortex. Normally, it is impossible to travel to that era, but since we only use it as a springboard to enter the pocket dimension of Gallifrey, we can get close to it."
"In other words, the violent jolt just now was because we were in a head-on collision with all the time energy?"
"That's right."
"Okay. Let's continue. Are all the equipment still functioning normally? Miss Oswald, how do you feel?"
"I'm fine. I can continue."
"There is nothing wrong with our system," the doctor added.
"Let's continue. Miss Oswald--"
"Call me Clara."
"Okay. Clara. Focus on our destination."
TARDIS and its companions walked through the whirlpool for a moment, and then bumped into something. It tried to pass through, but the process was extremely difficult.
"Ah!" Clara held his head and screamed in pain.
"Clara!" (Both said in unison)
"Her spirit cannot bear the pressure of breaking through Gallifrey Dimensional Barrier," Ian standing next to her commented. "Don't you have a plan to deal with this situation?"
"Get ready, TARDIS!" The doctor shouted, and a strange orange light emitted from the inside of TARDIS and poured into Clara's head. She stopped screaming and opened her eyes.
"Are you okay?" Ian asked.
"I... I'm fine."
"Do you want to stop?"
"What about your plan?" she asked.
"Now that we're here, it's just a matter of using extreme measures to break in."
"It doesn't matter, I can still persist."
"Are you sure?"
"Are you worried about me?" she asked with a beautiful smile.
"Of course. Since I promised you that nothing will happen to you, I intend to keep my promise."
"It turns out it's just because of this," Clara muttered in a low voice. Of course Ian heard it, but he didn't point it out. Soon after, with Clara's efforts and the protection of TARDIS's core, they finally broke through Dimensional Barrier.
"Gallifrey," after walking out of the police box, the doctor said in a tone full of awe and nostalgia. Just when he was lost in thought and Clara was looking around, a screen appeared in front of Ian whose content only he could see.
'Morgana, how is the situation?'
'I've scanned the entire planet and found where we want to be.'
'That's good.'
"Let's go," he turned to the two of them and said. They soon found themselves in a city, but everything here was frozen in time. The people, animals, flying ships, and even buildings here seemed to be at a standstill.
"I'm going to the central hub to get what I want," Ian interrupted their sightseeing mood. "After I'm done, you can decide whether to unfreeze or release them. I don't think you need my help to do this."
"... No, I can handle it myself."
Ian went to the central hub, where most of Gallifreyans's data on technology is stored. Normally, this place has the highest security level, but now it is easy to get in. The only trouble is how to extract the data while Time Stop is in his state.
Ian wasted no time and directly used his [Time Authority] to speed up the process. After that, he traveled around all the places on the planet where the core database was stored and looted all the data.
One of his first goals was the technology of TARDIS. He collected all the TARDIS from the first generation to the latest generation in the museum. After he was done, he returned to the two of them.
"Have you decided yet?"
"Give me a little more time," the doctor said, and Ian did not rush him. He returned to TARDIS, and Clara followed the doctor. In the next few days, they would come back to rest before going out again. After more than a week, the doctor finally made a decision.
He unfrozen Gallifrey, but decided not to release them from this prison.
He believed that it was not a good thing to let his people return to the universe. Ian looked at him and said nothing. As long as the Time Lords regained their ability to move, they would definitely find ways to escape from this prison.
The doctor did not go to see anyone on Gallifrey. He unfrozen the dimension through TARDIS and then left.
"Are you sure you can't stay? You can travel with us for a while," the doctor suggested.
"That's a bad idea." Ian shook his head. "Although we have many things in common, we have more differences. A short trip is okay, but a long trip is fine. Besides, like I said, there are still people counting on me. I can't stay long."
"Will we meet again?" Clara asked.
"I'm afraid the chance is very low."
Once he has processed and analyzed the acquired data, he will immediately leave for the next world.
"That's such a shame."
Ian looked at her with a smile, "I hope you have found your goal in life, and I wish you all your dreams come true."
"Thank you, and I hope you can save your people." She stepped forward and gave him a hug. Then, Ian turned her eyes to the doctor. The two shook hands tightly.
"Is there anything you want to say to me?"
"Yes," Ian nodded. "Now that you have dealt with Gallifrey's matter, I hope you can stop running away from the past and find inner peace. River Song is a great woman, and she deserves much more than what you gave her."
"You might be right."
The two hugged tightly, and then Ian boarded Netheril, rushed to the sky, and disappeared.
"Are you sure you want to leave?" Morgana asked. "This world contains huge potential."
"I know, but it's best not to have too much interaction with people like the Doctor."
If one day the Doctor invents Omniversal Travel Technology and finds his home planet, Ian will not be surprised at all. At the current development stage of the Empire, it is best to have less contact with such people.
"Let's count the spoils of this trip," Ian said with a wicked smile.
"I really like that your unbreakable habit of stealing is still the same even after all this time."
Ian blushed, remembering the ridiculous years when he traveled around the world and sneaked into Vatican and other places to steal books when he was young.
"What do you know? This is all for the pursuit of knowledge Kazuma."
"You can Self comfort me however you want. Anyway, I know you enjoy that exciting feeling."
"Shut up and show me what treasures we got."
