"Dean, how are you?"
No longer paying any attention to the Ice Emperor's impotent rage, Yan Jingchuan checked Jing Hongchen's condition.
"I'm fine. I won't die for the time being..."
Collapsing onto the snow, Jing Hongchen looked at Yan Jingchuan with an exceedingly complicated expression.
He had witnessed Yan Jingchuan's confrontation with the Ice and Snow Empresses in its entirety.
Yan Jingchuan's courage and methods had deeply shocked Jing Hongchen.
At such a young age, he had faced the Ice and Snow Empresses, two of the three great rulers of the Extreme North, without changing expression. Not only had he dared to threaten them, he had even dared to insult them—and the Ice Emperor had been forced to swallow her anger.
Most importantly, despite being at a disadvantage, Yan Jingchuan had successfully negotiated with such an unyielding attitude.
Previously, Jing Hongchen had only regarded Yan Jingchuan as a remarkably gifted student. When Yan Jingchuan absorbed a soul ring beyond his level, Jing Hongchen had believed that he was destined to become a Hyper Douluo, with perhaps even a chance of reaching Limit Douluo.
But now, he suddenly felt that as long as Yan Jingchuan did not die young and could grow smoothly, he would at least be capable of leading an era.
With his temperament, methods, and top-tier talent, it was fortunate that such a genius had come to the Sun Moon Empire. If he had been in the Original Douluo Three Kingdoms, Jing Hongchen would not have been able to sleep peacefully. Shrek truly had been blind.
Jing Hongchen did not yet know that Yan Jingchuan possessed twin martial souls. Otherwise, he truly might not have been able to resist going to Shrek just to mock them.
"Where are Xiao and Meng? Where did they go? How are they now?"
Asking three questions in a row, Jing Hongchen was deeply worried about his grandson and granddaughter.
"Dean, don't worry. They've already left. We'll reunite with them soon."
Taking out the last few Milk Bottles to restore Jing Hongchen's soul power, Yan Jingchuan covertly glanced at the Ice and Snow Empresses not far away.
Jing Hongchen was no fool. He immediately understood what Yan Jingchuan was guarding against and raised his hand, using the little soul power he had just recovered to block outside detection.
"Say whatever you need to say. I'm already at the end of my strength. I can only rely on you now."
Yan Jingchuan carefully explained what they needed to watch out for later, especially telling Jing Hongchen to keep hold of the Level-Nine Fixed-Installation Soul Cannon at all times.
The moment their private discussion ended, the Ice Emperor impatiently shouted.
"Hey, human! When are we leaving? Don't even think about stalling for time. If there really is no Ten-Thousand-Year Dark Ice Marrow, obediently accept your deaths!"
Yan Jingchuan did not even look at the Ice Emperor. He merely replied.
"You're noisy."
He walked before the Ice and Snow Empresses, completely unafraid that they might suddenly attack him. Yan Jingchuan looked directly at the Snow Empress.
"If you want to see the Ten-Thousand-Year Dark Ice Marrow sooner, find us some heavenly treasures that can heal injuries."
The Snow Empress frowned and had not yet had a chance to say anything when the Ice Emperor cut in first.
"What trick are you trying to play? You humans are insidious and cunning. This emperor will never trust you."
Yan Jingchuan leisurely cast the Ice Emperor a sidelong glance, his tone brimming with contempt.
"What a coincidence. I don't trust ugly, hot-tempered, brainless soul beasts either. If you don't heal my dean, then we'll just stay here and wait."
Hearing her own words returned to her exactly as they had been spoken, the Ice Emperor felt as though she were about to explode from rage. She was one of the three great rulers of the Extreme North and had lived for hundreds of thousands of years. Never once had she been this furious.
"Sigh!"
The Snow Empress sighed, soothing the Ice Emperor, who was on the verge of exploding on the spot, while agreeing to Yan Jingchuan's request.
In the Snow Empress's territory in the Extreme North, there were still quite a few precious heavenly treasures in the lairs of these rulers.
Although they were not especially suitable for Jing Hongchen, they could still help him recover from some of his injuries.
Afterward, Yan Jingchuan led the way toward Dragon City in the north of the Heavenly Soul Empire.
Crossing the entire Extreme North was not difficult with the cultivation of the Ice and Snow Empresses and Jing Hongchen.
With Yan Jingchuan in tow, the two humans and two soul beasts quickly arrived at Dragon City.
Before entering, the Ice Emperor was forced to take human form. Her appearance as a little girl with twin ponytails and a scorpion-tail hook left the worldly inexperienced Jing Hongchen quite astonished.
The contrast was simply too great. Who could have imagined that the majestic and gorgeous Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion would take such a form in human shape?
After entering Dragon City, the first people Yan Jingchuan sought out were Xiao Hongchen and Meng Hongchen.
The reunited grandfather and grandchildren wept with joy. Meng Hongchen cried so hard that she looked like a pear blossom drenched in rain; she had thought she would never see her grandfather again.
Amid his emotion, Xiao Hongchen noticed the Ice Emperor and Snow Empress.
Knowing that they were the culprits who had pursued them, Xiao Hongchen was both shocked and furious.
Sensing the hostility Xiao Hongchen was giving off, the Ice Emperor was about to do something when Jing Hongchen directly shoved the Level-Nine Fixed-Installation Soul Cannon into her face.
It did not take long to find the dry well Yan Jingchuan had described. The six concealed themselves and appeared together within the Earthdragon Sect.
The strongest person in the Earthdragon Sect was only Nan Shuishui, a Soul Douluo. She had no possibility of detecting their group.
"Is it down here?"
The Snow Empress made one final confirmation, and Yan Jingchuan nodded.
Ice-attributed soul power gathered as the Snow Empress blasted through the dry well with a single strike, revealing a not particularly large pit.
All six jumped down. The pit was dozens of meters deep, and at its bottom, a stone door caught in the Snow Empress's attack had collapsed. Faint traces of ice elemental aura leaked out from behind it.
They swiftly cleared away the stones and entered. Ice elemental aura rushed at them head-on.
Behind the stone door was a cave. Though the space was only around a dozen square meters, it was filled with a strange pale-blue metal.
The three members of the Hongchen Family, who frequently handled soul tools, recognized it at once.
"Ice Extreme Divine Crystal!"
Yan Jingchuan also had some knowledge of this metal. It was an extremely rare ice-attributed material.
The Ice and Snow Empresses were clearly uninterested in these metals and continued deeper inside.
One white ice pillar after another appeared before them. Deep-blue Ten-Thousand-Year Dark Ice Marrow flowed quietly within the pillars.
The Ice Emperor and Snow Empress stared wide-eyed.
"This... really is Ten-Thousand-Year Dark Ice Marrow!"
"So much Ten-Thousand-Year Dark Ice Marrow!"
Uncontrollable ecstasy surged through their hearts. With this Ten-Thousand-Year Dark Ice Marrow, they would not need to fear not only the next heavenly tribulation, but even two more heavenly tribulations.
"How did that human know there was Ten-Thousand-Year Dark Ice Marrow here...?"
The Snow Empress had not been dazzled by the enormous quantity of Ten-Thousand-Year Dark Ice Marrow before her. Her rationality quickly returned.
The Ice Emperor, on the other hand, could not care less.
"Snow Empress, why care about that? As long as we absorb the Ten-Thousand-Year Dark Ice Marrow, your damaged origin can recover. We won't have to fear the descent of heavenly tribulations so much anymore."
As she spoke, the Ice Emperor immediately moved to collect the Ten-Thousand-Year Dark Ice Marrow, but Yan Jingchuan's cold voice came from behind her.
"Wait!"
The Ice Emperor froze. She and the Snow Empress turned around to look at Yan Jingchuan.
"What are you trying to do? If you don't hurry up and get lost, are you deliberately seeking death?"
The Ice Emperor, already delighted moments ago, found Yan Jingchuan increasingly unpleasant to look at. Recalling how he had insulted her, she could barely restrain her killing intent.
Yan Jingchuan stared at the Ice Emperor, raising his voice as his words overflowed with unquestionable ruthlessness.
"You filthy scorpion, shut your mouth. I don't want to say it a second time!"
"Ahhh! Human! Die!"
The Ice Emperor flew into a rage and charged at Yan Jingchuan with a roar. She was determined to tear him apart until not even scraps remained.
Jing Hongchen instantly flashed in front of Yan Jingchuan, once again bringing out the Level-Nine Fixed-Installation Soul Cannon.
The sense of danger the Level-Nine Fixed-Installation Soul Cannon gave her instantly sobered the Ice Emperor, and she retreated several steps in succession.
Alarm bells rang in the Snow Empress's heart as she assumed a defensive stance.
The underground space was too narrow. Once that thing was used, they would have nowhere to evade, and the Ten-Thousand-Year Dark Ice Marrow behind them would certainly not survive either.
"We have already seen the Ten-Thousand-Year Dark Ice Marrow. You can leave now. What do you mean by this?"
The Snow Empress remained fairly calm, though she could not understand Yan Jingchuan's intentions.
Seeing that the Snow Empress understood she was now constrained by the situation, Yan Jingchuan curled a finger and tapped the metal shell of the fixed-installation soul cannon. The thudding sound was like the footsteps of the god of death.
"This was never our fault. It's only because you're stronger that we had no choice. I said I would give you Ten-Thousand-Year Dark Ice Marrow, and naturally I won't go back on my word. But that doesn't mean you can take all of it."
