Background / History
Shrek Academy is an academy based beside Sea God Lake, near the Golden Ancient Tree. Its highest governing body is the Sea God Pavilion, whose elders include Mu En, Xuan Zi, Song Yunzhi, Yan Shaozhe, and other senior figures. 1
The academy possesses a ten-thousand-year foundation. It has become closely associated with the Continental Advanced Soul Master Elite Tournament, which continued after Spirit Hall's destruction and is described as having been dominated by Shrek for ten thousand years. 40
Shrek operates with unusual independence for an academy. Yan Jingchuan notes that it has its own city, independently collects tax revenue, and has historically participated in wars between nations; Shrek's Inspection Corps also claims authority to hunt Evil Soul Masters throughout the continent. 4 27
Organization
Sea God Pavilion
Sea God Pavilion is Shrek's senior decision-making body. Mu En serves as its master, while Yan Shaozhe is later identified as the Pavilion Master. 1 80
The pavilion oversees major disciplinary, political, and personnel decisions, including Yan Jingchuan's cultivation restriction, Yan Feng's proposed execution, Huo Yuhao's departmental affiliation, and reserve-team selection. 1 80 108
- Mu En — Head of Sea God Pavilion; initially rules that Yan Jingchuan must not cultivate rather than condemning him solely for evil martial souls. 1
- Yan Shaozhe — Outer Court dean and Sea God Pavilion elder; later leads the proposal to execute Yan Feng. 48 80
- Xuan Zi — Elder and Rank 98 Hyper Douluo; supports Shrek's campaign against Evil Soul Masters and pursues Yan Jingchuan after his defection. 1 27 28
- Song Yunzhi — Senior Sea God Pavilion figure who organizes the reserve-team selection. 1 108
- Lin Huiqun — Elder responsible for the Treasure Pavilion. 1 77
Departments
- Martial Soul Department — Led by Yan Shaozhe; competes with the Soul Tool Department for talented students, including Dai Yuhao. 108
- Soul Tool Department — Led by Qian Duoduo and Xian Liner. It is portrayed as technologically far behind the Sun Moon Empire's soul-tool development. 1 71
- Outer Court — Handles general student enrollment, freshman education, assessments, and reserve-team selection. 48 82 108
- Inner Court — Houses more advanced students and is associated with the academy's senior disciples, including Zhang Lexuan. 40 86
Shrek Inspection Corps
The Shrek Inspection Corps operates beyond Shrek's campus and hunts Evil Soul Masters. Zhang Lexuan, Han Ruoruo, and Wu Ming identify themselves as members while intervening in a conflict involving the Sun Moon Empire and the White Tiger Legion. 27
Facilities and Resources
- Sea God Lake — The lake beside which Shrek Academy and Sea God Pavilion are located. 1

- Shrek City — The city associated with the academy; Shrek is stated to collect its own tax revenue there. 4 27
- Treasure Pavilion — A four-story resource-trading center in Shrek City containing Soul Bones, pills, herbs, and soul tools. It is managed by Lin Huiqun. 77 78

Treasure Pavilion VIP System
The Treasure Pavilion issues VIP cards graded from white to red, following Soul Ring color ranks. Yan Feng receives a red card that grants a forty-percent discount, an annual free selection from the Treasure Appreciation Fair, a high credit limit, and access to designated auctions. 78
Policies and Reputation
Shrek publicly presents itself as an institution that educates and nurtures people. Mu En explicitly rejects automatically labeling someone an Evil Soul Master merely because their martial soul is evil, provided they have not harmed others. 1
However, Yan Jingchuan's treatment exposes sharp internal disagreement over this principle. After his awakening of the Dark Sacred Dragon and Hell Demon Puppet martial souls, the Sea God Pavilion prevents him from cultivating; he subsequently escapes and defects from Shrek. 1 2
Shrek's members and Inspection Corps are repeatedly shown treating evil-attributed martial souls as proof of criminality. Yan Jingchuan and Du Busi argue that this practice can force wrongly judged people toward becoming Evil Soul Masters. 3 6 14
The academy charges commoners ten gold soul coins for martial soul awakening, according to Yan Jingchuan's assessment of its practices. 40
Student Assessments
Freshman Assessment
The Freshman Assessment is held three months after enrollment. Students compete in three-person team battles, and only those who pass may remain at Shrek. 82
Yan Feng is arranged to fight a higher-year team as part of the assessment. 82
Advancement Assessment
The Advancement Assessment is the key examination for Outer Court students entering their second year. Students select and battle soul beasts in the Beast Arena; scores are based on the beast's age, combat performance, and method of victory, with 150 points as the maximum score. 99
Reserve-Team Selection
Selection for the Continental Advanced Soul Master Elite Tournament reserve team is conducted as an all-out melee: the final seven students standing earn reserve-team positions. 108
The resulting new Shrek Seven Monsters Reserve Team consists of Yan Feng, Cao Jinxuan, Ning Tian, Xu Jiujiu, Jiang Nannan, Lan Susu, and Lan Luoluo. They are permitted to accompany the main team to Star Luo City for the tournament. 110
