Background / History

Before the apocalypse, Xiao Hui attended college with Chu Wenfeng and Chen Xu. While accompanying Chen Xu to buy rings for a confession, Xiao Hui secretly bought a matching thorn-and-rose pair for himself and Chu Wenfeng. Too embarrassed to confess, he passed Chu Wenfeng the rose ring while claiming it had been bought by mistake. 177

After the apocalypse, Xiao Hui worked at Dawn Base’s registration point, where he recorded Shen Bai’s information and recruited ability users. He later became the Red Zone’s base director, using Shen Mo’s donation of 1,000 tons of supplies to stabilize morale and secure food for the base. 133 146 148

Wolf Shadow attempted to seize the Red Zone by exploiting its supply shortage. Xiao Hui openly resisted him with his psychic ability, then organized the verification of Shen Bai’s supplies and proved that the donation was real. 146 147

In a prophetic dream, Xiao Hui was lured outside the base, ambushed by Wolf Shadow’s forces, and tortured to death. Even while dying, he planted a psychic seed in Wolf Shadow’s mind to help Chu Wenfeng remove the threat later.
