Background

Following a serious illness, Cheng Heng realizes that he has transmigrated into the body of a frail scholar. He discovers the fate Heaven Rewards Diligence, which promises achievement through unceasing effort, and resolves to learn martial arts as his route out of poverty and instability 1.

His grandfather's household refuses to fund his training, having already spent its resources on cousin Cheng Qi.
