Jennifer slammed her book onto the desk, braced both hands against it, and leaned forward until she was almost face-to-face with Edward.
Her eyes curved into crescents like a sly little fox's. "Hey! Edward, an awesome band is coming to town this weekend. Want to go see them together?" She blinked those astonishingly bright eyes, anticipation nearly spilling out of them.

(Jennifer—Jennifer's Body)
The gazes of several boys nearby snapped toward them like searchlights, filled with envy and jealousy. "What's so great about him..."
Edward lounged against the back of his chair, lifted his eyelids to glance at her, then gave an exaggerated shrug.
"Sure."
He dragged out the word, wearing the infuriating expression of someone saying, I'm only doing you a favor.
"Not like I've got anything better to do than grow mushrooms." ╮(╯_╰)╭
"Then it's a deal!" Jennifer clapped excitedly, as if afraid Edward might change his mind.
"Mm." Edward answered simply.
"Ring, ring, ring."
The entire classroom instantly came alive with clattering desks and chairs and a roar of voices.
The students poured out of the classroom in small groups, as though fleeing a disaster.
Edward blended into the crowd and slowly wandered out through the school gates.
He set off down the road home. As he walked, he could not help recalling his bizarre transmigration experience.
As an upright, model citizen of the twenty-first century, he had somehow transmigrated because of something as ridiculous as going to the bathroom without bringing toilet paper.
Whenever he thought of that goddamn reason, Edward wanted to flip the heavens the middle finger. ┐(´д`)┌
Over the past few years, Edward had finally figured out the world he was living in. It was practically a hodgepodge of horror movies.
The town where he lived was called Derry Town. That was right—the place haunted by the terrifying clown Pennywise.
Fortunately, Edward had never come face-to-face with that horrifying clown.
Near the town was Crystal Lake Camp. He had heard the scenery there was beautiful, and that an unkillable mama's boy had been soaking at the bottom of the lake for years!
Oregon had The Stanley Hotel, steeped in an eerie atmosphere. The news in California reported from time to time that a serial killer was committing crimes everywhere.
Then there was Elm Street in Springwood Town. The property prices there had probably fallen through the earth's core by now. Who the hell would dare sleep there?!
The more Edward thought about it, the more his head hurt. Fortunately, heaven never blocked every path. At the crucial moment, his system had appeared. Edward silently thought, "Open the system panel."
A virtual panel immediately appeared before his eyes:
[Name: Edward Connor] [Gender: Male] [Age: 18] [Main Quest: ???] [Backpack: Ebony and Ivory, Silver Cross] [Abilities: Photographic Memory, Pure Yang Body, Charm] [Pet: None] [Achievement: [Reverse Scamming]—Successfully made a ghost trip over you 3 times] [Coins: 999] Lottery: Low-tier 10-pull: 1,000; Mid-tier 10-pull: 100,000; High-tier 10-pull: 1,000,000; Ultimate 10-pull: 100,000,000
Looking at this system, which could not have been any simpler and did not even have a proper hint, Edward felt utterly helpless.
To survive in this world full of danger, he could only rely on the pocket money he had painstakingly saved through frugality, drawing little by little until he had finally obtained a few fairly useful things.
As he walked, Edward could not help calculating in his mind, "I only need another ten dollars before I can do another 10-pull.
I really hope I get something good this time, something that'll give me more protection in this horror world.
He looked up at the sky. The sunset was as pale and bloodless as a dead man's face. ㅍ_ㅍ
"I'm home!" The moment Edward stepped through the front door, he raised his voice and shouted into the house.
His voice echoed through the somewhat empty house. Then he headed straight to the bathroom sink to wash his hands.
At that moment, a gentle voice came from the kitchen. "Edward, go call your sister down for dinner." The speaker was Edward's current mother—Sarah Connor.
Edward still remembered how excited he had been when he learned his mother's name, thinking he had landed in the world of The Terminator.
He had even pictured Arnold's classic scene, imagining him saying in a stern voice, "I'll be back."
Sadly, reality soon shattered his fantasy.
His father was also named John Connor. That coincidence left Edward torn between laughter and tears, making him realize he had only gotten excited for nothing.
Edward dried his hands as he headed upstairs.
When he arrived outside his sister's room, he gently knocked on the door and said, "Lily, dinner."
After a faint rustle, the door slowly opened, and his sister Lily Connor walked out of the room.
For some reason, whenever Edward saw Lily recently, a strange feeling would rise in his heart. He racked his brains, yet he could not say exactly what felt wrong.
(Lily—Case 39)
After dinner, their mother took Lily out for a walk. In the spacious kitchen, only Edward and his father remained to clean up the dishes.
As Edward wiped the water from his hands, he turned toward his father, who was washing dishes by the sink, and said, "Dad, give me a hundred dollars."
John paused mid-motion and turned his head slightly. "Son, what do you need that much money for?"
Without the slightest hesitation, Edward blurted out, "A band's coming here to perform this weekend, and I asked Jennifer out."
He deliberately stressed the name "Jennifer."
"I can't exactly embarrass myself in front of a girl, can I?"
John smiled helplessly, stopped what he was doing, rubbed his hands on his apron, and said awkwardly, "Son, you know your mom controls the household finances..."
Before his father could finish, Edward cut him off with a smug look and said confidently:
"The false bottom of the living room vase, the base of the guest room chandelier, and page thirty-six of the atlas in your study." Edward calmly listed the three locations, smiling at his father. "Dad, what do you think Mom would do if she found out?"
He smiled like a little demon. ⌓‿⌓
John was stunned for a moment before saying, "Good son, is two hundred enough? Don't lose face in front of your friends."
Edward's eyes lit up, and the smile on his face widened. He took the two hundred dollars his father handed him, happily hummed a tune, then turned and headed back to his room with light steps.
John watched his son's retreating back and shook his head helplessly. "When did this kid find out where I keep my secret stash? I'd better move it somewhere else soon, or he'll clean me out sooner or later."
With that, he lowered his head and continued washing the dishes, though a doting smile still lingered on his lips.
Back in his room, Edward casually tossed the two hundred dollars onto the desk and eagerly opened the system panel.
Edward took ten dollars from the money he had just received and topped up his account.
With a crisp "ding," his coin total finally reached the desired 1,000.
Looking at those hard-earned 1,000 coins, Edward's eyes brimmed with anticipation as he silently prayed that this draw would give him something truly useful.
