That card, faintly glowing, was his student ID. It contained all his personal information and connected directly to the Tethys System, serving as Bai Mo's identification within the city.
"Come, let's exchange contact information. If anything comes up, you can find me anytime."
As she spoke, Qian Renxue took out her phone.
She had assumed that Bai Mo, who looked no older than six, surely would not know how to use such high-tech equipment, and she was just about to patiently teach him how to operate it.
Yet the next second, the expression on her face froze.
Bai Mo took the phone, expertly held down the power button, and unlocked it with a smooth swipe of his fingertips across the screen. He then precisely tapped the contacts icon before looking up at her with bright golden eyes, waiting eagerly for her to give him her number.
That entire sequence had been smoother than when she used it herself.
Qian Renxue was completely stunned.
"Hehe..." Professor Buer beside them gave a soft laugh, like a breeze brushing through emerald leaves. "I knew I wasn't mistaken. You too, child, came from another world, didn't you?"
"You... you aren't from Douluo Continent?"
Qian Renxue frowned tightly, confusion filling her gilded eyes. "But your Martial Soul...?"
Within this academy, she had seen countless people from other worlds, yet without exception, none of them possessed a power system unique to Douluo Continent like a Martial Soul.
Yet Bai Mo clearly possessed a Martial Soul, and even had the exceedingly rare Innate Full Soul Power. Why did Professor Buer say that he was not from this world?
"Senior, I truly wasn't born and raised on Douluo Continent."
Bai Mo held down Fufu's curious little paw as it tried to press the phone screen, then candidly said to Qian Renxue, "As for why I have a Martial Soul... honestly, I don't know either."
Qian Renxue did not dwell too much on the contradictory phenomenon of Bai Mo being a visitor from another world while possessing a native Martial Soul.
In this miraculous city called Sanctuary, she had already seen too many bizarre things capable of overturning ordinary people's worldview. She had long since grown used to it.
At this academy, it seemed that anything impossible could become reality.
After the two successfully exchanged contact information, Qian Renxue politely bade Professor Buer farewell and led Bai Mo away from the solemn freshman assessment center.
Inside the spacious hall, Buer silently watched the slender figure gradually recede into the distance, holding the little golden beast in his arms. Her pale, slender fingers unconsciously tapped against her soft lips as she murmured in a voice only she could hear, "That child... seems to know me."
She was certain that she had never met the child named Bai Mo in this world. Moreover, she rarely left Sanctuary Academy, so the chance of Bai Mo having seen her outside was infinitesimal.
That left only one possibility—Bai Mo came from her homeland, the world to which she had long ago given everything.
But... aside from certain extremely special beings, every trace of one called "Greater Lord Rukkhadevata Buer" should have been completely erased and forgotten by the entire world.
"What are you thinking about, Buer?"
A clear, gentle mature woman's voice sounded beside her ear, like a stream beneath the warm sun of spring, carrying a reassuring warmth.
Buer came back to herself and looked toward the newcomer, a gentle smile appearing on her face.
The newcomer was a woman dressed in a magnificent kimono.
She had long, dark-purple gradient hair, lighter at the tips, tied into a long braid that hung quietly down her back with an exquisite pink shimenawa rope.
A delicate bellflower and a small folding fan adorned the hair at her right temple.
She wore a modified furisode kimono in white and purple, carefully embroidered with lightning and butterfly patterns. A striking wide red sash was tied around her waist, further accentuating her graceful figure.
Her features were exquisite, her eyes and brows filled with gentleness and serenity. She exuded a tranquil, ethereal presence like a cherry tree beneath the moon, warm and refined as jade.
"It's nothing, Makoto." Buer smiled in reply. "I just saw a very interesting child."
"Oh?" The woman called Makoto—Raiden Makoto—immediately showed interest. "A child interesting enough for even you to notice? Then I really must learn more about him."
"I sensed the aura of dreams around him."
Buer's gaze grew distant, and a trace of compassion surfaced in her emerald eyes. "Nightmares, at that. Come to think of it, he is a pitiful child."
She gently shook her head and let out an almost imperceptible sigh.
"Dreams?" Raiden Makoto looked surprised. "Isn't that your domain? With your personality, didn't you help him?"
She knew this colleague's character very well.
Calling her gentle and kind was only the most superficial description. Buer possessed a compassion and mercy nearly divine in nature, overflowing with maternal radiance.
If that child truly was troubled by nightmares, Buer would absolutely have been the first to help him.
"I tried." Buer shook her head, a rare hint of helplessness in her voice. "But I couldn't do it. The source of those nightmares... I couldn't reach it, much less dispel it."
"What?!" Raiden Makoto's gentle violet eyes widened instantly. "A nightmare that even you cannot dispel... could it be 'her'?"
"Not necessarily."
Buer did not rush to a conclusion. She regained the calm of a god of wisdom. "In the vast universe, there are countless extraordinary individuals. There are also many beings stronger than I am in the realm of dreams. Perhaps there was such a powerful person in his original world."
"Whether or not it was her doing, we must remain on guard."
The warmth faded from Raiden Makoto's face, replaced by the gravity and decisiveness of a ruler. "It seems I'll need to keep a closer eye on that child."
"Mm." Buer nodded, then added, "However, the child himself is not a bad person."
Raiden Makoto could not help laughing. "Do you take me for someone so unreasonable, someone who sees danger everywhere? Don't worry. Since that child passed the assessment and joined the academy, he is our student. No matter whose scheme he may be entangled in, Sanctuary Academy will take it on."
"That would be for the best."
A reassured smile bloomed on Buer's face once more.
She raised her head, her gaze seeming to pierce through the transparent crystal glass ceiling of the assessment center, past the brilliance of the artificial sun, toward the dark and profound starry expanse of the universe.
