Background / History

Na'er found Fufu outside on a snowy day. Bai Mo named her after her cry, which sounded like “Fufu,” and confirmed that she was female only after receiving several scratches from her claws. She lived with Bai Mo and Na'er in their Blackstone Village hut, where she was affectionate toward them but avoided everyone else in the village. Although she ate little at home, she frequently went outside and returned with a full belly, apparently having found food for herself. 1 2 3

When the One-Horned Demon attacked Bai Mo and Na'er, Fufu placed herself between Na'er and the demon, bared her teeth, and growled in defense. The demon was instinctively terrified by her golden eyes, likening the pressure to the life-level suppression of a Twelve Kizuki. During the confrontation, the vertical mark on Fufu’s brow opened halfway like an eye before closing again. 7

Fufu became unusually quiet and hid in Na'er's arms after Natsuki Minamiya arrived, suggesting that she recognized the danger or authority of Natsuki's presence. She later left Blackstone Village with Bai Mo, traveling with him to Sanctuary Academy and settling into his Elementary Division villa. 12 15 17 24

At the academy, Fufu remained close to Bai Mo through his assessment, daily life, and first meeting with Xu Xiaoyan. Bai Mo consciously chose not to investigate Fufu's hidden origin, believing her attachment to him and Na'er to be genuine. 22 25 27

Fufu is a puppy-sized golden-furred beast whose small body and mannerisms resemble a miniature lion cub. 1

She is also wary and territorial around unfamiliar people. Villagers cannot approach within three yards of her, and she growls at the village chief. She similarly evades Qian Renxue’s attempt to pet her, hides against Bai Mo, and warns the older student away with bared fangs. 3 21

Despite her small size, Fufu is fiercely protective. She immediately defended Na'er when the One-Horned Demon attacked, and her behavior consistently shows strong dependence on and loyalty to Bai Mo. 7 25
