Background and History

Adoption of Ye Fan

Jing Hongchen brought Ye Fan to Mingde Hall, adopted him, and personally oversaw his Martial Soul awakening. Ye Fan initially addressed him as “Grandpa Jing,” while Xiao Hongchen and Meng Hongchen already treated the boy as family. 1

When Ye Fan awakened the Death Angel and Life Angel Martial Souls and demonstrated unprecedented innate Level 30 soul power, Jing Hongchen’s gamble in adopting him was vindicated. He immediately asked Ye Fan to become his disciple and received a formal kneeling salute in return. 2

Jing Hongchen subsequently escorted Ye Fan, Xiao Hongchen, and Meng Hongchen into the Star Dou Great Forest to acquire Soul Rings. His concern for Ye Fan’s safety led him to personally accompany the group and keep the younger members close after Ye Fan’s first-ring incident. 3 6

While traveling on the Douluo Continent, Jing Hongchen faced Xuan Zi of Shrek Academy. He refused to yield despite being on foreign territory, deploying his Martial Soul and a formation of soul-tool cannons before Zhang Lexuan de-escalated the confrontation. 7

He accepted Zhang Lexuan’s proposal to determine ownership of the Human-Faced Demon Spider through a duel, but openly rejected Xuan Zi’s appeal to Douluo Continent custom with the declaration that he was not from that continent. 8

Jing Hongchen later defended Mingde Hall against Zhongli Wu and the Holy Ghost Cult. He mobilized the Sun-Moon Royal Soul Engineer Corps, ordered a linked defensive formation, and sought support from his teacher, Kong Deming, when the conflict escalated. 22 24

Continental Soul Master Tournament

Jing Hongchen made Ye Fan the Sun Moon Royal Soul Engineering Academy’s top seed after intervening to stop Ye Fan’s dangerous duel with Ma Rulong. He also ordered everyone present to keep Ye Fan’s Soul Spirit confidential, seeing potential to eventually promote the Soul Spirit system through Mingde Hall. 31

Before the Continental Soul Master Tournament, he equipped the academy team with protective soul tools, including three fifth-tier Invincible Barriers for each member and three sixth-tier barriers for Ma Rulong. 32
